Hi Sig, I moved around J31 and J34 and pushed down on a couple of other connectors and now it’s working so it looks like a wiring/connector issue. I’ll keep my eye on it. Crazy! Thanks, Adam W4AJF

Thanks Sig, some excellent suggestions. Was thinking it was the PLL section but that is fine. Then I was thinking maybe the LPF unit. Maybe someone else will post that they had this problem before I pull the RF board but I’ll check the connections for now and look around, if not I’ll pull the RF. Thanks again, Adam W4AJF

I would check out the headers on the RF board and maybe the control unit as well for bad solder joints. The clue "it worked for a short time" leads me to think a solder joint issue. I did have something like this on a 757 as well where on a certain band all went dead it seemed. The voltage to switch bands probably is not getting to where it's supposed to go due to this.

Maybe look at J34 and J31 on the RF board and J24 on the local unit. You can test voltages as you switch bands - the service manual tells you the band ranges on each header pin. Or, just reflow all of the headers on the board and see if this fixes it. Maybe this helps....

Hi all, new to the group and need help please: I received in an FT-757GX Yaesu and above 24.9999mhz (25mhz + up) it's dead, no receive, no xmit and when I hook up my antenna to the SO-239 there is no change. It was dead at 25mhz and up when I got it and a few minutes later it worked for a short time and then died and won't come back. It's only on 25.0000mhz and up.

Any help please?

Why not try the 767GX group we have here?

No side tone on CW

Hi everyone - my issue is with a 767GX but the radios are similar this seems like the best bet to get help.

My 767GX won’t produce side tone from my straight key. It’s transmitting ok at full power/low SWR but is only sending a carrier and no tone. Checked with another radio and all I hear is the open carrier full quiet.

I’ve racked my brain and can’t figure it out, but I’m not super familiar with this radio yet. I hope it’s just operator error and not hardware. Any ideas on things to check? Thank you.

Hi All,

I may be able to help you. I have a pretty nice FT-757GXII that has what you all MAY find to be a minor problem, but I have to lighten my load... It has the BAIL you are looking for, PLUS a mobile mounting bracket. The radio transmits and receives in ALL modes and bands it should.... BUT...... It may have a trimmer problem or something... when listening to SSB or CW, the audio jumps up and down +/- 300ish hz randomly and intermittently.. AM receive is great, so, I guess that means it doesnt wander that much. Anyway, I am willing to let the thing go for $100 plus about $20 towards postage. I can likely come up with a manual (I think, don't recall if I have one or not. I'll look.)

But the radio is good in every other way I can tell. Controls may be a bit scratchy (I didn't do much with it before figuring out the stability problem, then i quit using it)...

Anyway, I'm legit, this is legit, I am good in QRZ, you can email me or you can even text me if you wanna talk. I figure parted out, the bail, the mount and the main tuning know alone would fetch $100 total, so think of either fixing this thing back up, or buy it for parts... If nobody wants it, i'll let it go to Fleabay.

I keep a search on ebay going for parts for my FT-757GX. Haven't seen just the bail but have seen some bottom cases with feet and bail occasionally.
Another option would be to make one using music wire (spring steel) from a hobby shop.

Bought a sad non-working FT-757GX at a hamfest. Got it all fixed up. It's ugly and beat up, but it works pretty good. The carrying handle was broken. I paid premium price for a new one from DX Engineering.

Now, I need the front support bail. Not one to be had anywhere that I can find.

Anyone know where I can find one?
