I can't help you with this line, at least at this time.? It has no known connection to my O'Daniel, Daniel, Daniell lines in SC. Don't know how much gen research experience you have, so I'll offer a couple of suggestions if I may. 1.? Were you familiar with or work with folks in the DANIEL List on rootsweb, com?? Ancestry.com bought out Rootsweb and terminated this terrific collaboration site.? You can still access the Daniel-L Archives on rootsweb and search for data there.? Much was shared and archived on numerous Daniel lines. 2.? Kevin Daniel is the project manager of the Daniel DNA Project.? Reach him at If you haven't had an appropriate gen Y-DNA test on a direct male descendant, Kevin can advise what you may need go get.? A basic Y-DNA test of 12 markers is totally worthless for discovering family lines, 67 markers and higher 111 markers are more likely to help.? Problem is that unless someone directly related to your Daniel line has tested, there can be no match. They would have to be from Robert Seth's brothers, if any, or from descendants of Robert Seth's uncles, if any. He is also moderator of the new free Daniel research site at email address:? Daniel groups.io You will have to join the group, but it's free and you may find help from contacts there. 3.? There are many records available online at the SC Archives at Large amounts of info there including land grants and old last wills and testaments.? Search by surnames, places. 4. I have a copy of "S. C. WILLS" an Index to "South Carolina Wills 1670 - 1853 or later" Tell me what districts or counties Robert Seth lived in early SC and I can check for surnames county book and page info.? Nothing else in the book, it is an index only.? You may be able to find it in a library, author Mary Bondurant Warren. Angus Patterson is listed in Barnwell County Book 2 Page 236. I did find Seth Daniel and A. Patterson listed as witnesses in the 7 June 1835 LW&T of William Owen, recorded 19 Mar 1836 in Barnwell Will Book "C", Page 157. As you may know, I did have family in Barnwell District, SC. Best regards, Bob Daniell On 8/24/2020 3:47 PM, Eleanor Daniels wrote:

Hello Ms. Bateman --
I am looking in to Robert Seth Daniels as it appears we may have found a connection to him through YDNA testing.? Although I can't do the YDNA test, I have connected with a couple Daniel(s) descendants through research.? I have a cousin who also descends from my 3rd g-grandfather John M. Daniels (born abt. 1803, possibly in South Carolina, parents unknown although mother is presumed to be a daughter of William Causey) and he has a YDNA match with someone who descends from Josiah Jonas Daniel (born 1793, parents unknown), and another male YDNA match to a Daniels who descends from Robert Seth Daniels. It is possible that you and the last person I mentioned are related as all of the names you mentioned are in that person's tree.? Yours makes 4 Daniel(s) families that I know of whose family information stops from the 1790's to early 1800's, and I think at the very least John M., Josiah Jonas, and Robert Seth were cousins, if not even more closely related.? It would be wonderful if you had a male Daniel(s) who could take the YDNA mentioned above.? Are you on any of the genealogy sites like Ancestry, Family Tree, MyHeritage, GEDmatch, etc., where I can see if we have a DNA connection? Wendy (James) Lovgren |
