Dick Cooper Time Book - 1950s

6/4/53 work CV Junction (Cherry Valley Junction?), power 3003, through freight rate, marked on Mohawk 4:00 AM, marked off Mohawk 5:10 PM, on duty 13:10, paid $27.01 for 197 miles, Primett engineer, Cooper.

I believe this is just south of Cobleskill.

Yes, that was most likely Cherry Valley Jct although it was not the official name or office call. The Cherry Valley Branch was still in service, until 1956, with an interlocking tower, "KF." When the branch was removed, at least one crossover remained there, I think, and later a TCS Controlled Point, KF Cabin, was established. Southbound trains could cross to the left track and run around a train dragging up Richmondville Hill to DE Cabin.
?
In 1959--61, I rode Train 208 from Albany to Richmondville. Many times we would get a train order at Cobleskill to cross over and run against the current of traffic to DE Cabin, 208 had to pull south and back through a trailing-point crossover at Cobleskill, and our train crew was not real happy about that. New KF Cabin took care of that problem.
