Fw: ¡®Survivor 48¡¯ finale recap:
From: Sharon Pohlman ¡®Survivor 48¡¯ finale recap: Did Eva, Joe, Kamilla, Kyle, or Mitch win the $1 million prize? John Benutty Reality TV May 21, 2025 Survivor 48 concluded on Wednesday with the jury's decision on whether Joe Hunter, Kamilla Karthigesu, Kyle Fraser, Eva Erickson, or Mitch Guerra would be named the next "Sole Survivor." When we last left off in the penultimate episode, Kamilla and Kyle manufactured a lie to convince Joe and Eva to oust their ally Shauhin Davari with the dual hope that it would undermine their loyal gameplay and relieve them of their own responsibility for turning on the alliance. In the epic three-hour finale, titled "Only One of Yous Can Win," which aired May 21 on CBS, we find out if Kamilla and Kyle's gamble paid off, whether or not Joe can fulfill his promise to get him and Eva both to the end, and how, if at all, Mitch finally makes the big move he's been waiting to make. The members of the jury at the start of the episode are: Cedrek McFadden, Chrissy Sarnowsky, David Kinne, Star Toomey, Mary Zheng, and Davari. Two more from the final five will join them and only one of the final three will take home the $1 million prize. Let's find out who outwits, outplays and outlasts the others! "I do think I deserve an Emmy" ¡ª Kamilla Karthigesu Following their "hare-brained" plan, Kamilla and Kyle were in shock that they actually pulled it off and equally shocked that Joe never fact-checked the story Kamilla told him with Shauhin directly. If Joe had, they may not have went through with voting Shauhin out, but as it stood post-tribal is that both Eva and Joe felt they can trust Kyle and believe that he'll be going with them to the Final Tribal Council. Before anyone could settle in to their path to the FTC, they were presented with an opportunity to gain an advantage in the next immunity challenge by becoming the first to decode a puzzle lock similar to the ones that unlocked the Beware Advantages earlier in the season. Once again there were symbols hidden around camp that they needed to collect in order to unscramble a six-letter word. Kyle was the first to get all the letters, but his guess of "RESCUE" was incorrect and Eva's guess of "SECURE" proved to be correct. Eva's advantage in the final five challenge for immunity and pasta reward was to get an automatic placement of her ball in a basket at the midway point of the obstacle course, instead of having to toss it in. In the running of the course, Joe, Mitch and Kyle all got to and passed this stage before Eva got to it, effectively nullifying her advantage in a challenge she didn't need to win anyway (she has a hidden idol to keep her safe). Once again the puzzle at the end of the course became the great equalizer and even Kamilla, lagging behind in the entire challenge, caught up to be only one piece behind anyone that was ahead of her. In the end, Kamilla overcame her deficit and grew a commanding lead on the puzzle to nab her second individual win and secure her own safety to reach the final four. Kamilla invited Eva to join her on the reward, wanting to fulfill her wish of having pasta. "I should have made a move" ¡ª Mitch Guerra With Kamilla's immunity win, Mitch saw an opportunity for him, Kamilla and Kyle to be on the right side of the numbers to finally get Joe out of the game. The situation placed Kyle in the middle having to yet again decide between whether sitting next to Mitch or Joe is more dangerous for his own ability to win. While on reward, Kamilla was proud to know that she successfully created a situation where no one will be able to write her name on the parchment until they vote for her to win, but she, too, was in a position of having to assess who is most dangerous for her to sit next to. She felt like Kyle would be the worst for her to be at the end with, but she found herself wanting to stick to her word that either she or him needs to be in the end and so she can't vote him out. Eventually she confessed to Mitch that he's going to be difficult to beat because everyone loves him and so she'd be voting him out. The fi

Follow our live blog below to see who advanced. The winners of MasterChef: Dynamic Duos will win the trophy, the title, and $250,000. Let's get this season started!Battle 1 Jesse and Jessica (dating) vs. Zach and Michelle (married) Zach and Michelle: Chili-Spiced Chicken Leg with Mascarpone Polenta, Blistered Tomatoes, and Breadcrumbs. Gordan calls it "beautiful" and says, "I love the color of the chicken." Tiffany says her mouth watered as she watched Gordon cutting into the chicken and it tastes "delicious." Joe calls it "an excellent dish." Jesse and Jessica: Crispy Skin Salmon with Roasted Broccolini, Aji Verde Green Sauce and Pickled Fresnos. Joe comments on the courage it takes to not put a single carb or starch on the plate. That salmon is cooked beautifully and Gordon says, "It tastes as good as it looks." Terry calls the salmon "unbelievable" but says they could have seared it just a little bit longer. Winners: Zach and Michelle Battle 2 Tina and Aivan (aunt/niece) vs. Shanda and Asa (cousins) Tina and Aivan: Vietnamese Steamed Bass with Black Bean Sauce, Glass Noodles, and Herb Salad. Gordon loves the elegance and says, "It's got 'eat me' all over it!" The bass is glistening and noodles are "perfect." Tiffany says she wishes her dish had just a little acid ¡ª maybe just some lime zest to "perk it up." Joe calls it "full-flavored and delicious." Shanda and Asa: Pan-Seared Duck Breast with Pistachio Risotto. Joe calls it "inviting" and says they put a lot of technique into it. Gordon says the duck is "juicy and seasoned beautifully," but the risotto is a little too rich. Tiffany also compliments the duck, but the risotto is undercooked.Winners: Tina and Aivan Battle 3 Azu and Javier (divorced exes) vs. Athena and Timothy (newlyweds) Athena and Timothy: Curried Lamb Chops with Mashed Potatoes, Candied Asparagus, and Mint Chutney. Gordon compliments the aesthetic and cook on the lamb. Tiffany says it's rare to cook a rack of lamb so perfectly, but the asparagus is lacking. Joe says the dish represents the love and unity of the cooks who made it. Azu and Javier: Oaxacan Chicken Roulade Stew with Rolled Chicken Breast and Tomato, Plantain, Raisin, and Almond Sauce. Gordon calls it "attractive" but says he's never seen a stew "that firm." The chicken is cooked beautifully and the sauce is "delicious," but the judges would prefer more liquid. Tiffany compliments the flavors and Joe calls it "an excellent effort." Winners: Athena and Timothy Next week With three pairs of white aprons secure, five more are up for grabs as 10 new Dynamic Duos go head-to-head for a spot in the competition. Fw: Astronomy Picture of the Day (5/21/2025): International Space Station Crosses the Sun
Astronomy Picture of the Day Discover the cosmos! Each day a different image or photograph of our fascinating universe is featured, along with a brief explanation written by a professional astronomer. 2025 May 21 International Space Station Crosses the Sun Image Credit & Copyright: Pau Montplet Sanz Explanation: Typically, the International Space Station is visible only at night. Slowly drifting across the night sky as it orbits the Earth, the International Space Station (ISS) can be seen as a bright spot about once a month from many locations. The ISS is then visible only just after sunset or just before sunrise because it shines by reflected sunlight -- once the ISS enters the Earth's shadow, it will drop out of sight. The only occasion when the ISS is visible during the day is when it passes right in front of the Sun. Then, it passes so quickly that only cameras taking short exposures can visually freeze the ISS's silhouette onto the background Sun. The featured picture did exactly that -- it is actually a series of images taken a month ago from Sant Feliu de Buixalleu, Spain with perfect timing. This image series was later combined with a separate image highlighting the texture of the active Sun which included several Sun's prominences around the edge.
