Since that initial finding in 1925, when a fisherman came upon remains inside the belly of a sperm whale, there have only been eight confirmed colossal squid sightings, and all have been postmortem, according to the Museum of New Zealand. ? Meanwhile, Farmer Jay faced growing tension between his remaining contestants, including a tearful goodbye and a fiery confrontation. Farmer John dealt with uncertainty from Samantha, while Colton¡¯s romantic moment sparked jealousy among his group. With special advice from country music star Brad Paisley, the farmers gained new insights but also more complicated feelings.Rachel quits after confronting Matt over Halleh¡¯s ¡®scandal¡¯ Farmer Matt Warren faced a major blow when Rachel confronted him over suspicions that Halleh had sneaked off to spend private time with him. Although Halleh insisted, she had simply gone out early to journal and watch the sunrise, the other women on the farm remained skeptical. Matt denied that anything inappropriate occurred and tried to reassure the group during the barn dance, but Rachel remained unconvinced. When Matt danced with Halleh, Rachel reached her breaking point. Pulling Matt aside, she declared she no longer trusted the situation and chose to leave the farm. Matt, visibly hurt, said she shouldn¡¯t stay if she had doubts, marking one of the season¡¯s most emotional departures so far.On Jay¡¯s farm, the contestants clash with T¡¯yana Farmer Jay Woods had his hands full navigating drama among his contestants. Fw: Survivor reveals third round of fan voting categories for season 50
From: Sharon Pohlman 'Survivor' reveals third round of fan voting categories for season 50 Survivor reveals third round of fan voting categories for season 50 How twisty do you like your "Survivor"? Time to vote and find out. By Dalton Ross Published on April 16, 2025 While one Survivor 48 player will win the coveted immunity necklace on tonight¡¯s episode, fans will actually be able to vote on the look of the season 50 immunity necklace, making the island jewelry the latest design element viewers can control. (Fans also decided the tribe colors in the first round of voting.) The necklace itself may not impact the actual gameplay, but the other categories open for voting will. Viewers will also vote on if the players will be given supplies like a pot, machete, and flint as in early seasons, or if they will have to earn them via a challenge, task, or some other method, as has become standard in the post-Winners at War new era of the show. The final category open for voting is sure to be the one most open to debate among fans, as the question centers around just how twisty they want Survivor 50 to be. Do they want lots of twists thrown in to shake things up, or would they prefer to see a pure, old-school Survivor experience? The third category takes aim at that, posing the following question to fans: ¡°The right twist at the right moment can change the game for players in exciting ways. But some fans prefer a more straightforward game where strategic alliances are all that matter. Which are you?¡± That question mirrors earlier categories that have asked fans whether they want more of what they have seen in the extra crispy new era, or if they would prefer a return to the classic Survivor recipe. During the last round, viewers voted on just how powerful they wanted advantages to be, and in the first round, they voted between the final four fire-making competition and Fiji-set after-show off the island and an old-school, regular final four Tribal Council and a live reunion show in Los Angeles.Of course, the players won¡¯t know what the fans have chosen until they hit the island in a few months. We have to imagine they are hoping for all the free rice and tribe supplies they can get. But will viewers oblige? Mary Live long and prosper

Fw: ¡®Survivor 48¡¯ Recap: April 16, 2025
From: Sharon Pohlman ¡®Survivor 48¡¯ recap: Kamilla calls David ¡®the biggest idiot on this beach¡¯ John Benutty Reality TV April 16, 2025 Previously on Survivor 48, Jeff Probst unmerged the 12 merged players into two groups of six and sent both to Tribal Council. In one group, David Kinne earned individual immunity and voted with four others to eliminate Cedrek McFadden, making him the first member of the jury that will decide the ultimate winner. In the other group, Joe Hunter had immunity for himself and because of a Block a Vote advantage used on her by Mitch Guerra, Saiounia "Sai" Hughley was voted out unanimously with the unlucky timing of not advancing far enough to make the jury. This week, the 10 remaining players come back together as one merged tribe and vote to send another player out of the game and on to the jury. Read on for our recap of Survivor Season 48, Episode 8, titled "A Rift Between All of Us," which aired Wednesday, April 16 on CBS. The players still competing to become "sole Survivor" at the start of the episode were: Chrissy Sarnowsky, David Kinne, Eva Erickson, Joe Hunter, Kamilla Karthigesu, Kyle Fraser, Mary Zheng, Mitch Guerra, Shauhin Davari, and Star Toomey. The members of the jury that will decide the winner are: Cedrek McFadden. "Somebody eat with me!" ¡ª Mitch Guerra With the split Tribal event behind them, Joe and Shauhin got together for a debrief on their lessons learned. Shauhin saw his name written down for the first time, but explained to his closest ally Joe that he didn't believe Kamilla and Kyle were ever seriously considering getting rid of him instead of Cedrek. He did, however, feel like he got a glimpse into just how close David and Mary are and passed along David's wish that they continue to work with Kyle and bring Mary in as a sixth. Shauhin recognized that he prefers Kamilla because he has a personal relationship with her and not Mary, so bringing in Mary would give David the leg up on them. At no point did Joe's own closeness to Eva (also in their alliance) come up as a concern for Shauhin, though. The next morning (Day 15), tree mail arrived to announce a "new era" classic where the players would have to compete in pairs decided upon prior to the challenge. While the group was hesitating to initiate the conversation on who would be paired with who, Joe smartly saw an opportunity to state the obvious -- that the challenge matters for their individual longevity in the game and they shouldn't worry about hurting feelings -- with the actual intention of encouraging people to team up with their allies so that he can "start picking apart alliances." His prompt triggered what he may have expected: Shauhin called Kamilla and David called Mary. Kyle tagged in with Chrissy next, highlighting not that they're close but instead continuing the cover on how close he and Kamilla are. Joe then paired off with Eva, leaving Mitch and Star as the final pair. For the players outside of the visible large alliance of "strong players," the pairing decisions underscored how much of a disadvantage they are already in within the tribe dynamics. Chrissy was frustrated that Joe and Eva became a pair because she thinks they're too powerful and Mitch was concerned that "all these new relationships" left him with a "big uphill battle" going forward. Mitch likened the experience to the new school year cafeteria politics of your friends deciding to eat lunch with their new friends, forgetting the friends they sat with last year (relating to the division of Kyle and David away from the original Civa players). Wanting to make a big move, Mitch brought Kamilla along for a conversation with David and Kyle where they pitched using David's relationship with Mary to form a new six that "for one vote" can turn the tides of the game and vote out an original Lagi player next. My Spidey senses are tingling in the worst way possible" ¡ª Mary Zheng In the immunity challenge, the pairs ran an obstacles in stages where two were eliminated after the first stage and then a third eliminated in the second stage. Here's a colossal clue to dive into." As Coral's intro package concluded, Anonymouse (Demi Lovato) appeared on stage. Coral sang "Ain't It Fun" by Paramore before revealing in her quick-fire Q&A with the panelists that her connection to Lovato is "the happiest place on Earth," she was born on a Tuesday, she's not friends with Rita, and she's not from a famous family. The panelists' guesses were Rachel Zegler (Jenny), Selena Gomez (Ken), and Brittany Snow (Robin).Paparazzo The fourth performer of the night was Paparazzo, who had this to say about his true identity: "Man, if you had told me that this little guy would still be standing here, I'd say you're crazy because I've never sang before. And ¡ª big spoiler alert ¡ª the next song is the biggest hint to my identity yet, so listen closely. But first, focus on this colossal clue." As Paparazzo's intro package concluded, actress Danielle Fishel (Boy Meets World) appeared on stage. Paparazzo sang

Fw: The Amazing Race: Recap April 16

From: Sharon Pohlman The Amazing Race: A Gnarly Leg in Bulgaria Brings the Heat - and Another Double U-Turn Story by Nick Caruso ? Self-driving and a needle in a (literal) haystack challenge? In the same leg? Brutal. Wednesday's episode of The Amazing Race tested the teams' patience like never before, delivering a gripping hour which included the season's second double U-Turn and yet another surprising finish. And car issues, they were aplenty! At one point, Erika and Melinda drove a few kilometers in the wrong direction, but that wasn't even close to the biggest car snafu in Sofia, Bulgaria. Jonathan and Ana lost hours of their race after the former got their car stuck in a ditch. Mark and Brett stopped to try to help them, as did a bunch of kind locals, but even though they were out of commission for what felt like forever, the married parents' still wound up placing third. As for Carson and Jack, those dudes got lost. Like, supremely lost. Other teams were halfway through the leg while the poor fellas were still aimlessly driving around the country. They kept their spirits high, though, and it paid off - mostly thanks to another double U-Turn which followed the leg's exhausting detour. Teams had to choose between finding a bracelet in ginormous haystacks and delivering heaps of heavy wood via backpack and wheelbarrow, and both tasks turned out to be feats of strength. While those at the front of the pack opted not to use the U-Turn, Melinda and Erika, who were feeling the pressure after taking forever at the haystacks, opted to U-Turn Nick and Mike, wrongly thinking they were the only team nipping at their heels. Nick and Mike then had no choice but to U-Turn Holden and Han because literally no one could have ever believed that Carson and Jack were that far behind. Melinda and Erika felt bad about their decision, which caused a chain reaction for the teams at the bottom, but their decision ultimately helped Carson and Jack survive the leg. Nick and Mike spent a whopping six hours searching through the haystacks, and in that time, Carson and Jack caught up, delivered their wood stacks, and were able to finish the leg in last place. Nick and Mike never even made it to the pit stop; Phil sadly showed up at the haystacks to put them out of their misery. OTHER RACE REFLECTIONS: * When the season first began, we didn't spend much time with Alyssa and Josiah, but the married nurses are stepping up to become one of the season's biggest and best competitors. Alyssa is a joy to watch, smiles plastered all over her face, and I'm also admittedly here for Josiah's dad jokes and mishaps. (No, my man, Sofia Bulgaria is not the name of the actress who starred in Modern Family!) The other teams better keep an eye out for these two. * Wasn't the 102-year-old Bulgarian grandma just lovely? I'm not sure if I've ever had sheep's milk yogurt before, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it's way more delicious than the sugary, chemical-laced dairy products we have in the States. Milking a sheep though? Hard pass. (Unless there's a million dollars on the line, of course.) Six teams now remain: Alyssa and Josiah, Han and Holden, Carson and Jack, Jonathan and Ana, Melinda and Erika, and Brett and Mark. With the race more than half over, who are you rooting for? Let us know in the comments below! Mary Live long and prosper

He felt such an alliance was necessary to prevent the attack of the two major Roman Catholic powers, France and the Holy Roman Empire, against Protestant England. On January 1, 1540, Anne arrived at Deal on the east coast at 5 pm to be greeted by Sir Thomas Cheyne, Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. She was escorted to the newly built Deal Castle, one of three new fortifications built to protect the Kent coast from invasion, to rest but as it was a small garrison fort, it was deemed more appropriate that she should spend the night at Dover Castle which had been sumptuously refurbished for her arrival. She was introduced to the Duke and Duchess of Suffolk, who would become her friend throughout her life, and Richard Sampson, the Bishop of Chichester, who were to escort her along the coast to more suitable accommodation. Exhausted from her whole day¡¯s voyage she was grateful to arrive at 11 pm and have the next day to rest before continuing her journey. Henry was waiting for news at Hampton Court, anxious that all should go well on his bride¡¯s journey up to London where they would officially meet for the first time. The weather was foul on 29 December 1539 but Anne refused to be put off and once all her baggage and train was assembled, she set off for Canterbury. Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, and Cheyne reported to Henry in the evening that even though wind and hail blew ¡®contynuelly in her face¡¯, Anne was ¡®desirous to make haste to the King (¡¯s Highness) that her Grace forcedfor no nother, which (we) perceyvyng were very gladde to set her G(race) furthwards, considering if we should h(ave) lost this day¡¯. Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury, met Anne halfway on the sixteen-mile journey to Canterbury at Barham Down. He had worried that the pouring rain would put off the gentlemen of the county. He detained one of Cromwell¡¯s servants to help rally attendees. But whether she noticed a smaller group or not, Anne was anxious to continue the journey and get out of the driving rain. After being presented with a cup full of gold coin, she was escorted to St Augustine¡¯s Abbey which had been refurbished and new queen¡¯s lodgings added especially for her visit. James Needham, Surveyor of the King¡¯s Works, had been in charge of ¡®350 craftsmen and labourers on the site¡¯ who had worked through the nights using ¡®31 dozen candles¡¯. As well two new ranges of chambers, Anne¡¯s arms were placed in the waiting chamber, two in her presence chamber and one over the stairs as well as the stained-glass windows carrying depictions of her badges alongside Henry¡¯s. All for just a one night stay. Anne must have been overwhelmed by all the new places and people, especially as they were all talking to her in a language she did not know. None of the nobles had sent back any reports to Henry that depicted Anne in a harsh light but in Rochester she would meet Lord and Lady Browne who would supervise her maids. Lady Browne was appalled by what they saw. Perhapsknowing the king¡¯s taste Lady Browne despaired of the wedding to come and felt that ¡®the King should never heartily love her¡¯. Continue reading...
