Fw: The Amazing Race RECAP- APR 23
From: Sharon Pohlman The Amazing Race Duo Makes a Grave Mistake in Bulgaria ¡ª But Did It Cost Them the Game? By Nick Caruso April 23, 2025 What¡¯s the No. 1 rule on The Amazing Race? You¡¯ve gotta read the clue! Then, you should probably read it again for good measure. Because one teeny tiny missed word could upend your entire race. Erika did read her clue, to be fair, but she didn¡¯t read it well enough. That little piece of parchment specifically said that taxis were not allowed on their second Bulgaria leg, and the mother/daughter duo broke that rule, well, every step of the way in Wednesday¡¯s episode. If it¡¯s any consolation prize (probably not), Melinda and Erika came in last place anyways and this could¡¯ve-been-major mistake wound up not affecting their placement after all. Yet, it still stands as a warning sign for all future racers: Slow down, breathe and correctly read that dang yellow piece of paper! So what else went down in Sofia, Bulgaria? Josiah and Alyssa continued to crush it. Having the privilege of starting the leg first, the married nurses had first dibs at snagging a brand spanking new Express Pass, and that they did. The task: Walking over hot coals, which Josiah claimed was his biggest fear. (He said he drinks lukewarm hot chocolate, because ¡°hot¡± just isn¡¯t his bag. Uh, that¡¯s a choice!) To his credit, he kept all 10 little piggies raised to the sky as he sucked it up and got the job done despite his reservations. He faced his fear, and for that, we applaud him! Elsewhere, Jonathan and Ana made a smart strategic decision after figuring out how to use a cipher to decode a message into English. What most teams couldn¡¯t figure out was that the English letters would appear on the bottom of the device. After Jonathan and Ana finally realized what had to be done and received their clue, they decided to tell Josiah and Alyssa to flip the cipher over ¡ª a bit of social strategy they¡¯re hoping could maybe pay them back down the road. Despite some additional teamwork that occurred throughout the episode (Han and Holden made a kind decision to tell last place team Melinda and Erika about the whole cipher sitch ¡ª a risky, yet honorable ploy!), no one could catch up with Brett and Mark who ended up winning the week after nailing the Bulgarian national dance. And even though Melinda and Erika were given a key clue and used heaps of taxis that other teams did not, they still arrived in last and were eliminated from the race. The top five open the show with a pitch-perfect performance of "More Than a Feeling." Then, the masks will be singing songs with a special meaning to them as Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora decipher the clues. One celebrity must reveal themselves while the rest will advance to the semi-finals. Nick Cannon hosts The Masked Singer on Wednesday, April 23 (8 p.m. ET/PT) on Fox. Coral The first secret celeb of the night was Coral, and this is what a former costar of hers had to say: "Coral has come so far since we joined forces six years ago. I'll never forget when we first met ¡ª it was during a huge audition ¡ª and we were both so nervous. We had to do a chemistry read, and part of that was us having to stand really close together and literally just stare into each others' eyes before the scene. So awkward! But, something really special happened in that moment. We became instant BFFs. And, we both got the parts that changed our lives ¡ª together! That same magic is happening here. I've never been more proud to see her owning this stage. I can't wait to watch her rock out tonight!"Coral sang "Sk8er Boi" by Avril Lavigne before revealing that her parents influenced the soundtrack to her life. "They've been there for me through the great times and the really difficult times in my life. I truly would be nowhere without them," she said. Nessy Nessy was up next, and his daughter gave viewers the inside scoop on the long-necked rocker before he performed: "I'm pretty impressed my dad has made it this far. Maybe it was all those high kicks! But sometimes, he can be expert-level cringe. He's constantly posting on socials. And have you seen his music videos? I almost died when my teacher played one in front of my whole class. And while there's a million things that he does that are like, eye roll, there's also a million reasons why he's the greatest. He makes the best milkshakes, he always helps with homework, and he even taught me how to drive a tractor. Dad, there's a million reasons I love you. Good luck out there. Just don't break a hip, okay!" Nessy sang "Million Reasons" by Lady Gaga before revealing, "There's a million reasons I love my daughter. I did this because I thought she would think it was funny or think it was cringy, but either way I'm winning." The panelists' guesses were John Popper (Ken), Uncle Kracker (Jenny), and Edwin McCain (Robin).Boogie Woogie The third performer was Boogie Woogie, whose wife shared how she helped shape the soundtrack to his life: "I have a case of disco fever watching my hunky husband on that stage. You can tell he is truly having so much fun ¡ª which is my biggest hope for him. I remember how hard he took the loss of his mother. I had never seen him so low. He channeled all of his grief into his writing and he made some of the most inspiring hits because of it. He's inspired my music, too. And, while he'd never mention it himself, I'm here to share that his work has helped so many others process their own grief, overcome illness, and, honestly, some fans have even said saved their lives. He's a light for so many people. I'm so lucky I get to stand in his glow. Boogie, baby, this is your golden hour. Now go out there and get that Golden Mask trophy!" Boogie Woogie sang "Golden Hour" by JVKE before revealing, "This song reminds me of my incredible, lovely Boogie Woogie wife. Especially when we got to sing at sunset at the White House." The panelists guesses were Daniel Powter (Robin), Charlie Puth (Rita), and Brandon Flowers (Jenny).Pearl Up next was Pearl, whose future son-in-law spilled some tea about his soon-t0-be wife's musical mom: "There was no scarier moment in my life than asking Pearl for her daughter's hand in marriage. Fw: Survivor 48¡¯ recap: APRIL 23
From: Sharon Pohlman Survivor 48¡¯ recap: Mary is ¡®willing to die¡¯ over her mistrust in Kyle and Shauhin John Benutty Reality TV Previously on Survivor 48, cracks grew among the season's dominant alliance of David Kinne, Eva Erickson, Joe Hunter, Kyle Fraser, and Shauhin Davari when David and Kyle couldn't see eye to eye about the fate of Kamilla Karthigesu. David saw her as a threat they needed to target now, but Kyle was keen on keeping his secret number one ally in the game. Luckily for Kyle, Chrissy Sarnowsky continued to dig her own grave by antagonizing at Tribal Council and the alliance voted her out 8-1. This week, Eva follows the clues on a hunt for her second advantage while David and Kyle add fuel to the fire burning at the bottom of their alliance. Read on for our recap of Survivor Season 48, Episode 9, titled "Welcome to the Party," which aired Wednesday, April 23 on CBS. The players still competing to become "sole Survivor" at the start of the episode were: David Kinne, Eva Erickson, Joe Hunter, Kamilla Karthigesu, Kyle Fraser, Mary Zheng, Mitch Guerra, Shauhin Davari, and Star Toomey. The members of the jury that will decide the winner are: Cedrek McFadden and Chrissy Sarnowsky. "Like a wombat... a bearded man standing over top of me" ¡ª Joe Hunter After seeing his name on parchment at a second straight Tribal Council, Shauhin was eager to understand whether the vote was only "unanimous on paper," suspecting that some members of the tribe may have actually wanted him out of the game. But while he stewed, David stepped in it even further by admitting to Kamilla that he floated her name as someone that should get votes in the event that Chrissy played her Shot in the Dark. The admission only furthered the divide between him and Kamilla and underscored for David that Kyle's defense of her is worrisome. The next morning, the "core six" was grouped together when Eva asked who they should go for next, suggesting Star because she is likeliest to win a challenge. At first David said he would "sit this one out," but then qualified that Mary still wants Kamilla out. Kyle used that as an opportunity to pull Shauhin aside later and, playing up his insecurity about the votes against him, said that David and Mary are targeting Kamilla as a way of undercutting Shauhin within the alliance. Noticing them away from the group, David and Mary suspected that Kyle and Shauhin are definitely calculating a move against them and attempted to alert Eva of their potential danger, but she wasn't having it. When Kyle and David finally connected to clear the air, neither was great at covering up their distrust and paranoia about the other and so it remained clear that the simmering "rift" in the alliance was reaching a boiling point. That night, Eva waited until the rest of the tribe was seemingly asleep to follow through with the "taco reward" clue that directed her toward the latest advantage in the game. When away from camp, Eva found a game to play to risk her boon for a more powerful one. Starting with an Extra Vote that would be hers to keep, Eva could risk it by choosing between two options, one of which would be the Safety Without Power advantage and the other would strip the Extra Vote from her. Having risked it and successfully gained the Safety Without Power instead, Eva was given a second chance to risk in a one of three choice to gain a fully realized immunity idol. Because she already has an idol and not wanting to be greedy, Eva stepped away from the game and kept her advantage that is good through the final seven. At this point, however, the risk that Eva didn't know she had taken was that when she left camp, Shauhin was awake to see her leave and immediately woke Joe to fill him in on her absence. "When Jeff calls me, I promise the next time Jeff sees me I will be a swimmin' pro" ¡ª Star Toomey First thing in the morning, Eva confided in Kyle, Shauhin and Joe about her clue, the journey she took at night, and her successful claim on the advantage. Her admission confirmed for Joe that Eva is the "team player" he thought sh

Fw: "Did not do well" - American Idol judge Lionel Richie reveals Carrie's struggles with voting contestants out
From: Sharon Pohlman Soap Central "Did not do well" - American Idol judge Lionel Richie reveals Carrie's struggles with voting contestants out "Did not do well" - American Idol judge Lionel Richie reveals Carrie's struggles with voting contestants out By Preksha, American Idol's April 21 episode, which that released on Monday, Lionel Richie has been vocal about selecting the Top 20 contestants and how hard it was, especially for Carrie Underwood. The rookie judge has joined the show this season. However, she graced the stage herself 20 years ago and won season 4. This makes her empathetic towards the contestants now that she is on the other side, as she understands what goes on with them. This empathy has been creating roadblocks for her when it comes to eliminating the singers with whom she has connected. Lionel said that her first time saying no to someone was disastrous, as they "almost had to stop the show." After the deal was done, she asked Luke Bryan, a fellow judge on the American Idol panel, whether she had to do it again, and he advised her that there were 100 more times to go. According to judge Lionel Richie , Carrie Underwood is not "vicious" at all and brings a loving and caring energy to the show, which has not been seen for decades. He says that she is every bit as sweet and compassionate as her reputation says. In a recent interview with ET, when asked about the challenges with her trying to make a list of the Top 14, Lionel said,"She did not do well. Carrie did not do well. We kept saying, 'Carrie, you have to vote.' She says, 'But I like this one, I like that one.' I said, 'Carrie, you have to vote now.' We took her fingers off of the others, one nail at a time, but it's difficult. The first time, you fall in love with all of them. But then you know you've got to start eliminating, it's terrible. She'll be alright. She'll be okay. Maybe."American Idol judge Lionel Richie opens up about having Carrie Underwood on board with them Lionel and Bryan have never experienced the sweetness that Carrie brings with her on American Idol. Recalling an incident when it was her first time meeting with them for filming, Lionel said that Carrie had brought a basket of goods for them, which had "stewed okra, pickles." At the time, he thought that Carrie must have stopped at the market to pick them up, and it was sweet. However, he later found out that the goods were all homemade, and it was "kind of different" for them. As for Luke, talking to Billboard Magazine, he shared about Carrie saying,"When you look at what she embodies with ¡®American Idol,¡¯ she¡¯s a big time representative of what America¡¯s sweetheart is supposed to be, and she maintains that so amazingly, and she does it by caring like she does and having the kindness with the kids." Welcome to The Lanesborough Stepping into The Lanesborough feels akin to turning the pages of a cherished Jane Austen novel. Each room narrates stories of elegance and romance, a treasured chronicle of a more refined era. Originally built as the home of Viscount Lanesborough on the edge of Hyde Park, the property spent most of its life as the site of St. George's Hospital. Renovations during the 1800s under William Wilkins, the architect behind London's National Gallery, brought the structure's sweeping, understated elegance to further life, and when the hospital relocated, the space was reimagined as a hotel, reopening most recently under Oetker Collection in 2015. Set a stone's throw from iconic London sites like Buckingham Palace, Harrods, and Hyde Park, The Lanesborough offers cosmopolitan vibrancy and aristocratic elegance. The hotel's grand halls, adorned with hand-painted gold leaf and crystal chandeliers, whisper tales of royalty and display a long history that beckons you to write your own chapter. This edition was photographed by Matteo Milan At a Glance Location: London, England, United Kingdom Rooms: 93 rooms and suites, including the 4,840 sq ft Royal suite Dining: The Lanesborough Grill, Library bar, Bridgerton Afternoon Tea Wellness: 18,000 sq ft Club & Spa offering with resident doctors. Art: 2,000+ pieces including Sir Joshua Reynolds portraits from 1750 Unique Feature: Houses one of the world's oldest cognac collections dating back to the 1770s Website | Book Your Stay | Instagram Room is aristocratic Each of the 93 rooms and suites at The Lanesborough transports you back to the romance and elegance of the Regency era. Restored by designer Alberto Pinto, the rooms exude a tangible charm, from delicate pastel shades of pink, yellow, and blue to the intricately embroidered canopies and rich mahogany furnishings. The expansive Royal Suite evokes a sense of aristocratic splendor found in classic literature, sprawling across 4,840 square feet ¡ª bigger than an NBA basketball court ¡ª and featuring lavish bedrooms, grand living spaces, and a stately dining room. Around-the-clock butler service attends to your every whim, echoing the meticulous care of a royal household. Luxurious touches like heated bathroom floors, sumptuous bedding, and intuitive room tablets blend historic elegance with modern convenience. Dining is society's finest Dining at The Lanesborough feels like sitting down to a Regency-era feast. At The Lanesborough Grill, Chef Shay Cooper crafts exquisite modern British dishes using seasonal local ingredients. In the Library Bar, where leather-bound books line mahogany shelves, mixologists pour cognacs that have been quietly aging in French cellars since George III sat atop the throne. These spirits, some dating back to the 1770s, are transformed into cocktails that tell stories of their own, served to the gentle backdrop of live piano music. Indulge in the Bridgerton Afternoon Tea, a sumptuous tribute to the Netflix show that is more than just a themed meal. Crafted by pastry chef Pierre Morvan-Benezet, this experience transports guests directly into the pages of a period romance, featuring delicacies inspired by beloved literary characters, paired with the Bridgerton Blend Tea, rich with the sweet notes of rose petals and fruit. Art is gilded history The hotel's extensive art collection, curated by VISTO Art, serves as a living gallery of British artistry. Over 2,000 pieces adorn the walls, but perhaps most remarkable are the circa-1750 portraits b

Fw: Astronomy Picture of the Day (4/23/2025): An Almost Everything Sky 2
Astronomy Picture of the Day Discover the cosmos! Each day a different image or photograph of our fascinating universe is featured, along with a brief explanation written by a professional astronomer. 2025 April 23 An Almost Everything Sky Image Credit & Copyright: Koen van Barneveld Explanation: This surprising sky has almost everything. First, slanting down from the upper left and far in the distance is the central band of our Milky Way Galaxy. More modestly, slanting down from the upper right and high in Earth's atmosphere is a bright meteor. The dim band of light across the central diagonal is zodiacal light: sunlight reflected from dust in the inner Solar System. The green glow on the far right is aurora high in Earth's atmosphere. The bright zigzagging bright line near the bottom is just a light that was held by the scene-planning astrophotographer. This "almost everything" sky was captured over rocks on Castle Hill, New Zealand late last month. The featured finished frame is a combination of 10 exposures all taken with the same camera and from the same location. But what about the astrophotographer himself? He's pictured too -- can you find him?
