Fw: Nautilus Live (4/21/2025): ? Two Weeks Until Live Ocean Exploration Begins!

Two Weeks Away from 2025 Expedition Season in Unexplored Areas of the Western Pacific Ocean

In 2025, Ocean Exploration Trust and its partners will explore deep-sea habitats in the Western Pacific using E/V Nautilus, its mapping sonars, ROV systems, and other exploration technologies brought aboard through the Ocean Exploration Cooperative Institute. Join us in characterizing deep-sea habitats in the Mariana Islands, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Solomon Islands, and the Pacific Islands Heritage Marine National Monument. The 2025 E/V Nautilus expeditions are primarily sponsored by NOAA Ocean Exploration via the Ocean Exploration Cooperative Institute.

Catch Up With E/V Nautilus

Congratulations 2025 Science and Engineering Interns!
After reviewing hundreds of competitive applications, we are excited to announce the 15 participants season as part of the Science and Engineering Internship Program!

eDNA Ashore: Studying Ocean Biodiversity
Onboard E/V Nautilus, we use many different tools to collect water at various depths to search for eDNA. , we follow samples ashore and visit colleagues at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to see what happens with eDNA after an expedition.

Seafloor Mapping Progress Update: 54% of US EEZ Complete
The Interagency Working Group on Ocean and Coastal Mapping¡¯s recently announced? 54% of U.S. ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes waters are now mapped! OET is proud to annually contribute data toward the goal of better understanding our shared ocean.

Bring the excitement of deep-sea exploration LIVE to your classroom, science center, museum, aquarium, or community event. Live ship-to-shore interactions with E/V Nautilus allow students to engage in a unique two-way, live dialogue with the educators, scientists, and engineers of the Corps of Exploration. Live interactions are available free to classroom and community event audiences and pre-scheduled to match your teaching schedule.?
