WTB: new chuck for Lot 5

Hi guys,

The chuck on my Lot 5 seems to be on its last legs. Can anyone recommend a modern replacement that is affordable and able to be easily mounted to my spindle? Seems like the one I have has a 3-jaw setup with a plain back that threads onto the spindle. Seems like there are a few options from Bison, but not sure if anyone has tried mounting these before.

Any suggestions welcome. I use my Lot 5 almost every day and really need something that can reliably hold my work. Bushings and spindle are all running well. Just need a new chuck.

Thanks!

Hy Ryan

As to chucks the Lot 4 lathes came with a 4 inch three jaw and a 5 inch four jaw.? As to 5 inch 3 jaw chucks the Bison is as good as they get.? I have?used them for over 30 years.? The Polish make good stuff.? As to mounting you will need a plain back chuck whatever?brand you get.? The spindle on your Lot 4 is a bit of a bastard as there are no threaded backplates available for them.? You would hope that you could use the one that your chuck is currently mounted to.? I hope this helps a little bit.

Sorry Ryan? I should have said Lot 5 not 4. The lot 2 3 4 and 5 all use the same spindle nose that being the 1 1/4 - 12.

Hi Terry
As to steady rest the only one I have is on one of my display lathes and as such I don't want to get rid of it just yet.? As to a base are you talking about? legs and a chip tray or a cabinet style base?? Not sure just what you're wanting.
