Hi Terry Yes the Daltons Lot 2 3 4 and 5 use the 3C collet. The Lot 6 and Dalton 9 can also use the 3C but also use the 4C with the proper nose tooling and adaptor for the draw

Interesting Rick never thought of that. That's kind of a first for these old lathes. If I remember correctly the 9L and 10 inch uses 15 change gears like the Dalton. Dennis [email protected]>

The lever is for change gears. I think there's only seven change gears needed along with the 3 positions with the lever. I'll have to look at the threading chart and count how many gears there are.

Yes I can see that's not a Champion overhead drive. Also Rick what does the lever on the front of the head stock do. My 10 inch does not have this feature. I always figured it was something to do

It has a hand lever that's on a cam, so you can loosen up the belt in 5 seconds and move it to another pulley size. I think the serial number of the overhead drive was in the two hundred range.
