Re: Thread dial

Re: Getting back to my Dalton
I suspect they may have been intentionally removed. Perhaps the machine was
"surplus " at the shop where the previous owner worked.
By the way. I made a first cut a few minutes ago. Nice and quiet.

Re: Getting back to my Dalton
This is a picture of the nose protector on a lathe but before I had them black oxide coated. John also note the oil cup for the spindle bearing. This is what yours would lave originally looked like.

Re: Getting back to my Dalton
I also have a box full of spindle nose thread protectors if anyone wants on. Usually ask $25 and shipping but if anyone wants on you can have one for $20. Should ship in a small flat rate box

Re: Getting back to my Dalton
John as your lathe has a 12 pitch threading lead screw it requires a 48 tooth gear to work correctly. It will work with other tooth numbers but only at one position on the rotation of the dial face

Re: Getting back to my Dalton
I spoke with Dennis today about getting his drawings for the thread dials, if I make them I'll probably make 30. I'm thinking of having them powder coated black.
