USACAS Awards

Finally the USA Cinematic Appreciation Society Awards (USACAS)
have been tabulated. Did you vote? I did and the results are
startling. My picks agree with the USACAS as to the top 17 awards
for the best movies ever as determined by a secretive ballot which
is so secretive even the USACAS members can't vote.

Here are the top 17 movies of all time:

17. Death At a Funeral (a real dark comedy with many twists of fate)
16. Beerfest (a challenge to drink Das Boot)
15. The Hangover (a Las Vegas bachelor party delight)
14. A Shot in the Dark (starring Peter Sellers)
13. Ed and His Dead Mother (a deal with the devil)
12. Chopping Mall (a horror delight)
11. The Proposal (Sandra Bullock at her best)
10. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (one of the all-time great flicks)
09. House of Wax (3-D movie circa 1953 starring Vincent Price)
08. My Big Fat Greek Wedding (very entertaining)
07. Grumpier Old Men (Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau classic encore)
06. Grumpy Old Men (Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau classic)
05. Zombieland (a true zombie movie complete with the hated clowns)
04. Sound of Music (Julie Andrews at her finest moment)
03. Bridge over the River Kwai (William Holden shines)
02. Gran Torino(Clint Eastwood at his best)
01. Fargo (William H Macy and Frances McDormand are the greatest)

There are also a few honorable mentions which are as follows:

Psycho
The Man Who Knew Too Much
Vertigo
The Birds
Jaws
Snow White Attacks Cinderella
Superman
Giant
Snakes on a Plane
Gidget Goes Hawaiian
The Alamo (John Wayne version)

I don't know if you saw the USACAS awards on PBS last week or not.
Because of funding cutbacks, maybe the awards were not shown yet
in your area. Stay tuned and call your local PBS station to let
them know you want the awards on your local PBS station.

Let me know if you agree with the awards. What are your choices
if you have not yet voted. Good luck at voting. The last date
to vote was 01/12/11.

Cordially,

The Moviecriticmeister J Henry, Esq.
