开云体育I ran into Dick Bodager when I was in Dalton earlier this month and asked him about Connie.? He said that she was having some kidney problems and would probably be on dialysis (Sp?) soon.? She has homes in New York and Florida.? It’s sad to hear when any of us have serious medical problems. ? Barb |

I am sad to hear about Connie B.? She was a really neat kid.? There are a few girls I had secret heart strings for and she was one of them.? Her and Dutch moved into our neighborhood in AZ in the 70's.? If anyone has her address please forward it.
I know Dutch passed of cancer awhile back, what about her son and daughter?? I guess we are getting to the?age where most of us are spending more time at the doctors and dropping those pills.? Because of my active physical life I am now suffering from arthritis and cancer.

To all:
I'm really sorry to hear the news about Connie. I owe a special thanks to her for efforts to introduce me to my wife Rose. Connie and Rose were friends and Connie told Rose "let me introduce you to this weird guy Weasel; you would make a perfect match". Connie was right. Here's a brief story of the encounter. Cash and I went to a festival (maybe even the Dalton Street Carnival, or maybe it was the Calamoutier Festival in Holmes County). Anyways, Cash and I threw pingpong balls into a fishbowl with a live goldfish in each bowl. It was probably some kid's game, but we played the game and unlikely as it seems, I actually won the fishbowl--including the live goldfish. Now what was I supposed to do with a live goldfish anyways? Well, the obvious solution was to give it to some kid. No takers. So Cash and I left the festival and decided to go to El Rancho Grande in Wooster (close to the old movie drive-in theater). So what do you do with the goldfish? Big dilemma. Do I leave it in the car, or do I take it inside El Rancho Grande? We decided to take it inside. I think Dutch Martin, Lyle Royer, Jeff Slusser?, et al were playing some tunes with the band they formed (can't think of the name). Anyways, we also saw Connie inside with some of her friends. One of the friends was Rose Gochnauer of Orrville who was celebrating her 19th birthday. Big whoopee! So Connie saw Cash and me and introduced me to Rose. So there I was with this stupid goldfish with me. Not knowing what to do, I spooked and asked Rose if she wanted this stupid goldfish. Cool move. Rose took the goldfish, named it Larry and the fish lived happily everafter (until it croaked). And the rest is history. Connie's efforts were rewarded with Rose and me hitting it off real well that summer of 1963. We eventually got married in Monroe, Michigan by Clarence F Miller, Justice of the Peace (who was a plumber on the side--at least that's what the sign in front of his house stated). The witnesses were friends of Clarence's who were at his house playing cards. By the way, we were married on Feb 14, 1964, and didn't even realize it was Valentines Day. The good news is that it is easy to remember our anniversary. The bad news is that it is so difficult to celebrate anniversaries because everyone else goes out to eat on Valentine's Day. It's a long story, but it's my tribute to Connie and how fun loving she is. Rose and I will put her in our prayers and write to her to tell her of the old times we had and to wish her well. By the ways, does anyone know if they still have a festival in Calamoutier (which Cash and I pronounced it as Calamooch)? Also is El Rancho Grande still in operation? Ah, the good old foolish days.
