53rd Class Gathering for DHS Class of 1959

jhdouglas59

Anyone interested in a class gathering sometime between Aug 28 to September 5? We will be in Ohio staying at the Rodeway Inn in Wooster.

Excluded days are August 31 and September 1 due to a scheduling conflict with Rose's 50th Orrville class gathering.

Paul and Suzanne Sturpe have the same scheduling conflict since
they are also part of the Orrville shindig.

Also excluded is August 30 since we may go to see the Cleveland
Indians lose a game at Cleveland Municipal Stadium for their 12:05
pm afternoon game that day.

Other excluded days are August 28 the day we arrive via Southwest
Bags Fly Free Airline and September 5 when we leave via Southwest
again.

So I guess that would make the gathering hootenanny occur on
the dates August 29 or September 2, 3, or 4.

Any ideas of where to gather? Maybe the Subway in Dalton? Or perhaps
The Grand Ranch (old El Rancho Grande) in Wooster? Or maybe an all-time
favorite place Brady's Pink Cottage in Massillon (if it still exists).
Or maybe Clay's Park. Or how about the Canton Zoo to see if the toothless lion still lives. I would suggest Hank's Tavern in East
Greenville but I think that the place burned down a couple of decades
ago.

Anyone interested in the project can arrange all the details. I don't
want to get involved.

Let me know how I can help not arrange the details.

Good luck in your dedicated planning abilities.

All those interested in the gathering should let me know so I can
assign the details to anyone who volunteers to help.

All those not interested in the gathering can ignore this e-mail
just like all the other mundane e-mails I send to the group.

See you'ns someday.

A pleasant reminder:

to reign forever.

Suzanne and I are interested in getting together with as many Dalton classmates as possible while we are in town.

Unfortunately, the only date/time that we can consider is Friday, August 31 for lunch or brunch. Yes there is an activity scheduled on August 31 for the Orrville group, but not until 5 pm., so a lunch or brunch should work out.

Does this date/time fit with anyone else's schedule? Does anyone have a suggestion of a place that would be suitable to meet? Is anyone other than John, me and our spouses interested?

I’m sorry but you’ll have to count me out.? I was just there for my father’s funeral and will be back there on August 1st.? We have a lot of work to do cleaning out his things and getting the house ready to sell.

John, Paul - sounds like fun.? I had my turn at coming to Dalton 6/19 through 6/17.? Got to talk w/Eunice (missed seeing her), but did see Joyce Miller, Shirley Moser, Karen Eckard, Cookie Shane and had some wonderful family reunion time.
?
HAVE FUN!

Too bad you didn't suggest this coming weekend. We are there now visiting family, leaving on Sunday morning? ?Sorry, August is out for us!

John,
i've been to Kidron 3 times since July 1 so August is out for me too.? Just buried my oldest brother, Ivan C. Amsutz, father of Sen. Ronald D Amstutz on July 16.? Appears that Class of '59 still returns to home base but on their own family terms.? Let's schedule something for the 55th class gathering.? That should be far enough in advance to mesh our various commitements.

LOL you are one crazy boy!? I vote for the sale barn in Kidron....many memories there.? Hope there will be some response to this profoundly written invite.? not sure what our schedule is for fall but do know that we get to go to FL this next weekend to see if its as hot there as it is here.? Our oldest granddaughter turns 13 which is a once in a lifetime event!? thanks for trying to round up the group.? I have had little to no success stirring the Facebook group to unite all the classes that have had their 50th already......any ideas anyone......I am more than willing to work on some if we can get a general consensus....pj lee
