Re: OLD OHIO SCHOOLS - ORGAN RECITAL

Hi - Linda here...
So, although, nobody said for sure, but maybe John did - that was the one we started our "readin, writin, and arithmetic" in.? It just didn't quite look the same.
?
Addie:? Your organ recital sounds wonderful.? Wish I could be there and hear "the sweet Adeline" music that you can produce.? I know it will be great.? What wonderful people the Lord has caused to cross your pathway and from all over the world.
?
I'm meeting some pretty wonderful people myself in doing my "Patsy Cline" visits lately.? I just did my 55th performance yesterday morning, since I started out with one in February of 2009.? I give the Lord all the credit for opening these doors for me!
?
All have a great week -I'm off all the rest of this week - so maybe I can get some housework done!

Re: OLD OHIO SCHOOLS

jhdouglas59

Looks like Orrville wins the prize for mass destruction of its schools.

I can't believe the number of schools closed or pending demolition on the list of Wayne County Schools.

Word has it that Orrville is planning a megaschool (maybe reverting to the one room school concept--only on a bigger scale).

In re: Dalton grade school closed in 1953/1954 I think the reason it said the location was on Lincoln Highway was that was before the duals
were setup as US 30 as it bypassed Dalton. I remember the truck traffic on Lincoln Highway before the bypass as the traffic came roaring past our house on East Main Street next to Nussbaum's filling station where I could buy a Grapette for a nickel.

So I guess the relative location of the old grade school was Lincoln Highway (aka Main Street).

I guess the photo could also have shown the location as Dalton Cemetery since that was nearby.

Maybe they used the old school rubble for recycled tombstones for
the cemetery.

You know...dust to dust, ashes to ashes.

Too bad they leveled the old grade school. It was probably built better than the schools that followed. Nothing like breahing in asbestos for eternity. Some say that asbestos wsrps your mind.
Somehow it did not affect me.

Question. Why don't they list some of those old one room school houses that surrounded the Dalton metroplex? I vaguely remember there
were some around there..just not sure where they were located or their names. Anyone have an idea where they were located or their names?

Have a day.

Prevent Swine Flu

patricia lee

Thanks to my sweet friend SUSAN...............I am forwarding thanks to you for putting it all together?for me...pjlee

Have been told this information but in one ear out the other was the case so i am glad that someone thought to send it to me. ?I know that many of you are against flu shots and now the h1n1 junk and all the talk about pros and cons. ?we each have to make our own decisions but i believe that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure so I am sending this along to all of those that I care about. ?FYI....I am also printing this out so I can remember it.....perhaps a copy for each room in the house! ? neti pots can also be ordered from frontier natural products.

?

Prevent Swine Flu - Good Advice

? ? ? ??
Neti pots and sinus rinse kits are available at the drug store and relatively inexpensive¡.under $15. ?
? ? ? ?
Dr. Vinay Goyal is an MBBS,DRM,DNB (Intensivist and Thyroid specialist) having clinical experience of over 20 years. He has worked in institutions like Hinduja Hospital , Bombay Hospital , Saifee Hospital , Tata Memorial etc. Presently, he is heading our Nuclear Medicine Department and Thyroid clinic at Riddhivinayak Cardiac and Critical Centre, Malad (W).?
? ? ? ?
The following message given by him, I feel makes a lot of sense and is important for all to know?

? ? ? ?
The only portals of e ntry are the nostrils and mouth/throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible to avoid coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.?
? ? ? ?
While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps, not fully highlighted in most official communications, can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to sto ck N95 or Tamiflu):?
? ? ? ?
1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).?
? ? ? ?
2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap).?
? ? ? ?
3. *Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). *H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected o ne. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.?

? ? ? ?
4. Similar to 3 above, *clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water . *Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but *blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.*?
? ? ? ?

5. *Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). *If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.?
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ??
6. *Drink as much of warm liquids (herbal teas, warm lemon water,?etc) as you can. *Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.
? ? ? ??

I suggest you pass this on to your entire e-list. ?You never know who might pay attention to it -- and?STAY ALIVE?because of it.

I am checking into the Holiday Inn! With the average cost for a nursing home

care costing $188.00 per day, there is a better way when I get old and feeble.

I have already checked on reservations. For a combined long term stay discount

and senior discount, it's $49.23 per night. ?That leaves $138.77 a day for:

Breakfast, lunch & dinner in any restaurant I want, or room service, laundry, gratuities

and special TV movies. Plus, they provide a spa, swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge & washer-dryer, etc. Most have free toothpaste and razors, and all have free shampoo and soap. ?$5 worth of tips a day will have the entire

staff scrambling to help you. ?They treat you like a customer, not a patient.

There's a city bus stop out front, & seniors ride free. The handicap bus will also pick

you up (if you fake a decent limp). To meet other nice people, call a church bus

on Sundays. ?For a change of scenery, take an airport

shuttle bus and eat at one of the nice restaurants there. ?

While you're at the airport, fly somewhere. Otherwise, the cash keeps building up.

It takes months to get into a nursing home. ?Holiday Inn will take your reservation today. ?

And you're not stuck in one place forever, you can move from Inn to Inn , or even from

city to city. Want to see ?Hawaii ? ?They have a Holiday Inn there, too.?

TV broken? ? Light bulbs need changing? ?Need a mattress replaced? ? No problem.

They fix everything, and apologize for the inconvenience. ? ? ?

The Inn has a night security person and daily room service.

The maid checks to see if you are ok. If not, they'll call the undertaker or an ambulance. ?If you fall and break a hip, Medicare will pay

for the hip, and Holiday Inn will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.

And no worries about visits from family. They'll always be glad to find you, and

check in for a few days mini-vacation. the grand kids can use the pool.

What more can you ask?

(Wow!!!? Talk about dancing...this is 2 1/2 minutes long...I don't think I could've danced like this even through my college days, without "Collapsing" afterwards---AMAZING PIANO and DANCE TEAM!!!!)
?
This is a pianist from Switzerland who plays some of the best Boogie Woogie anywhere. He is so BIG over there, they hold a week-long Boogie Woogie contest every year and all the best players in the world are invited. In this video he is joined by 2 amazing dancers.
Turn up the volume, watch and give it a listen! If you experience any trouble tapping your foot to the beat, you had better hurry and schedule an appointment with your physician.
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T REMEMBER, HERE IS HOW THE BOOGIE WOOGIE WAS DONE!

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN GUILTY OF LOOKING AT OTHERS YOUR OWN AGE AND THINKING, SURELY I CAN'T LOOK THAT OLD?

WELL...YOU'LL LOVE THIS ONE.

MY NAME IS ALICE SMITH AND I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST. I NOTICED HIS DDS DIPLOMA, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME.

SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A HANDSOME, DARK-HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME NAME HAD BEEN IN MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS SOME ?-30-ODD YEARS AGO.

COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN? UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT.

THIS ELDERLY BALDING, GREY-HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS WAY TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE. AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD EVER ATTENDED MORGAN PARK HIGH SCHOOL .

'YES. YES, I DID. I'M A MUSTANG,' HE GLEAMED WITH PRIDE.

'WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?' I ASKED.

HE ANSWERED, 'CLASS OF '76. WHY DO YOU ASK?'

'YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!', I EXCLAIMED.

HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY.

THEN, THAT

UGLY,

OLD,

BALD,

WRINKLED,

FAT

GREY-HAIRED,

DECREPIT, * ASKED:

'WHAT DID YOU TEACH?
