Name change

Adeline Amstutz Yoder

yes, Addie is the same person as Adeline Amstutz. When I went to
college I preferred to be called Addie although it was hard for some
of the professors who knew my older siblings had a musical sister by
the name of Adeline. They soon learned. Some of my older cousins,
and definitely aunts and uncles, still call me Adeline and I sign my
checks as Adeline. I learned that in India. In fact, there it is
better to just use your first initials because according to their
laws, Addie Yoder is a person completely different from Adeline Yoder.
Not even related!

After 5 years at Goshen College (I took an extra year so I could take
some extra classes at the seminary located at the end of campus and
also to give an organ recital in addition to a piano recital). From
college I wanted to go directly to India to teach music at the
international school, Woodstock, north of Delhi. But my visa did not
come. I taught Jr Hi general music courses and HS choir in Wauseon,
Ohio for one year. The agreement with the school board was that I
would teach there until the visa came.

I went to India, via Germany(to visit a cousin studying in Bonn)
Switzerland (to visit Amstutz origins)and a 24 hr stay in Terehran
before landing-staying for 6 years. I was secretly engaged to Dave
Yoder, whom I met in Goshen before I left. He went to Oregon to do
his 2 years of alternate service by working at a Mennonite H.S. in
Salem. The mission board heard of an opening for a history teacher at
Woodstock, got him a visa, we were married in 1967 and our daughter
was born in 1970. We returned to the states in 1971. When the two
most important things in our life, getting married and having your
first child, happen in a country, a little bit of your heart stays
there. We were able to take Karmen back with us to visit the school
in 2004 when they celebrated their 150th anniversary. In fact, on
Karmen's 34th birthday, she was able to visit the hospital where she
was born. It was a shock for her to see the primitive it was, but she
loved the week we had in the Himalayan mountains. The views were
still spectactular. Her comment "And you guys got to see this every
day for all those years!". I was there a total of 6 years and Dave
for 4 and Karmen for 8 months!

We moved to Indianapolis in 1990 but have lived in Ohio, South
Carolina (where Dave got his Masters of Divinity at a Lutheran
Seminary and I got my Masters of Music in organ performance) and North
Carolina-Winston Salem for a year of internship and then in Reidsville
serving Holy Trinity Lutheran church for 8 years.

That's enough for now.

I want to thank Paul for being so patient with a computer illiterate
person! He finally got me signed on for dalton 59. Go pink and black.

Lutz, Florida? Dave's very best friend in seminary took a position at
a Lutheran Church in Lutz, Florida. We visited Rick and Molly Malivuk
several years ago. Dave's brother and wife live in Sarasota so we
occasionally drive south.

Oops - - Big Mistake -- !!!

Hi Classmates:

That last post was for a return email to Corrine - guess not anymore!

Oh well, check out "High School Reunion" for yourself - on TVland

Deanna is my sister Cheryl's daughter and a former "Daltonite."

I'll be careful the next time!

Everybody have a great week!

Re: Our Sympathy to Pat (Dearolf) Lee - Her Brother, Danny Passed away

Hi Corrine:
So glad to hear from you!? I think I started to write you a pretty long email before and then went to a different screen and lost the whole darn thing!? I never did start over - sorry!? How are you?
?
Well, come on down here to Big D sometime and visit.? Lots of stuff to do.? I have an extra bedroom - not a good mattress - but at least I have room for overnight guest!? I'm not working right now - finished a contract assignment on 2/29 and taking a few weeks off for just relax.? I redid a company's whole file room (an HR Dept) and my back, neck, shoulders, ankles have not been the same since.? My 2 girls are on their way up to my house and we are going out to lunch and for some fun!!!? They are both teachers and are on spring break.
?
I was going to post this on group website and may after all...speaking of High School Reunions - if you like reality shows.? My sister, Cheryl - do you remember her?? Her daughter, Deanna, is like the prominent star of a new reality show last Wed. night on TVland cable channel - 10 Eastern - 9 central - High School Reunion.? It's not a Sunday School picnic show, but pretty neat to see your niece on TV like that - she's beautiful and does a great job.? Her name is Deanna - check it out on????
The high school they are featuring is where all 3 of my kids went and 2 graduated from there - J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Tx.??This is the class of 1987 and it's their 20 year reunion.? Also Cheryl's stepson, Steve Troyer, is on the show and not liked at all.? He had an affair with his best friend's wife, and that girl frequents my church from time to time.? Her name is Lana and I used to sit right behind her.? She has no idea the things I know about her and her life.? She is a beautiful girl and think she has turned to the Lord to straighten out her life.
?
Gotta run, - girls are here!
Great to hear from you,
Linda (Fahrney) Freeland - have a great week!

Yes, had a great visit with Pat and George.
Just one clarification - there was only me that started in Dalton for six months.? Then we moved to Kidron and then I returned to Dalton for the eighth grade.? There should be pictures somewhere of the early years of those of us that were at Kidron.

Hey all:
At least someone wrote down some names thanks Elizabeth!
?
I do remember that kid being Bill as Billy and I think he was a bully!
Also I think it was Gary Campbell now that you mention Gary.
?
Louella Mast does not ring any bells but if you say so it works for me.
Sue Ann Lehman is agreeable to all and Barbara Elsie (I thought it was Barbara haney) is ok with me.
I think that we decided that mavis martin was not in our class so that would still be a mystery.? But gee thanks for the updates ....now to get them on paper!
?
Just spent about 2 hrs with Keith Goudy and his sweet wife Sharon.? I was so elated to see someone that I had not seen for 48 years.? Will post pictures soon....We had a great time chatting and catching up on life.? He did solve one mystery for me and that was that a lot of us started out in the first grade and then a batch went to
Kidron school (which included him)? it would be good to know who else was on that list)? he said then most of them came back to Dalton in the 8th grade.? I had not remembered that ....
?
We are hoping that everyone would start on a journal of their last 50 years now so we could all have that in a booklet form when we meet in may 09.? So lets get going on it now as then fill in the blanks as we go along............heard from charlene hostettler dean who now lives in Dallas GA.? So my cup is full and pouring over with joy as we one by one reunite as classmates.? As always our door is always open here in Tampa and we will be going back to n Ga in may Lord willing and hopefully spend part of the late summer in Ohio.? Love to all.

Just got back from the storage unit. I was able to identify some of
those missing names Top row - between Jeff and Chuck is Bill
Bonheimer; 3rd row next to Merlin is Louella Mast; 4th row next to
Bonnie is Sue Lehman (confirming Betty Falb Hochstetler's); 6th row
next to Karen Eckard is Barbara Elsie. 7th row next to Danny is Gary
C. That is all I could make out after all these years for some reason
it faded out and I could not confirm Mavis Martin at the end of row 4.

After 17 1/2" of new snow last week (Wednesday and Friday) I'm ready
for Spring. Anxious for snow to melt so that we can start excavating
for the foundation of our new home.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next year and possibly catching up
with some of you when I come to Ohio this spring.
