Hello, Shirley Wyss called this evening to let us know that Jim Smith's wife passed away a week ago Thursday. Shirley asked us if we would pass the news on to classmates who we have email addresses. If you can pass the message on to others, we would appreciate it. If you would like to send a card, Jim's address is: 6022 Muffly Avenue SW, Navarre, Ohio 44662. There were no calling hours, funeral or obituary in the paper. She was a very private person. Jim had gone into Mel's to get his hair cut and told Mel. So we are using this way to get the word out. It would be nice to let Jim know we are thinking of him.
Thank you and Blessings to you all, Don and Beth Johnson

Thanks Paul and Suzanne for letting us stopping by to visit while
we are on our road trip. You were most gracious to us during our
whirlwind trip we are still on.

We had hoped to visit Pat and George Lee also but they were not
at their home during our travel time. Maybe next time we pass
through their area.

Luckily the tornado devastation avoided your part of North Carolina
while we were there.

We spent several days in Falls Church, Va (liberal hotspot close
to Washington, DC) and also Flint Hill, Va close to Shenandoah
National Park.

Now we are in Wooster, OH staying at the luxurious Rodeway Inn to visit friends and relatives for a few days.

I hope to visit with a few classmates in the Dalton metro area
before we depart.

Next destination will be Neenah, WI where we lived for 9 long years.

Then on to Allen, TX to visit our son and possibly find time to
visit Linda Freeland who also lives in Allen.

Then finally home to Boerne on April 30.

I hope Texas burning has stopped by then. The drought there is
horrible. We have had .06 inches of rain since March 1.

Sorry about all this boring detail about our trip, but you can
just skip all this trivia and I won't be offended.

As the others have said, classmates are always welcome to visit
with us at our home in Boerne, TX. Just let us know you are
headed our way. Our home has a couple of empty bedrooms and
free food. No credit cards or background checks are required.

Happy Easter y'all

Isn't it wonderful that in a Christian church we Celebrate the Life on the passing of another saint instead of the "funeral" service of just another deceased.? God Bless you Adeline and keep looking up when we will all be their together as true believers.

Re: From Cookie.....

David Yoder

Hi Gwen,
?
I'm going to try to attach the information from our pastor regarding my husband's death.? Dave was diagnosed with anaplastic astrocytoma (a type of brain cancer that begins in the brain and does not spread elsewhere in the body) after having a seizure back in October 2009.? The malignacy was not confirmed until a biospy taken in April a year ago indicating Stage 3 cancer.? This rare type of cancer has been found only in 2-3 in every 100,000.? I called 911 early Friday a.m. (2:45) after trying to stop a nose bleed that began about 10:30.? When I'd fall asleep and wake up, he had yanked the packing out of the nose, sometimes including a huge clot and so we'd have to start packing all over again.? I called 911 and by the time they got him in the ambulance, his blood pressure had dipped down into the 50's.? For a man who has?been hospitalized over the years because?of 230/120, this is quick drastic.
?
Bottom line, there must have been an internal bleed somewhere caused by the two chemo drugs he had been taking by infusion, maybe the adomon that was undetected.
If it doesn't come as an attachment, I'll forward Pastor Al's notice.
?
Just thought my classmates might like to know.
?
Addie

Then Roy got into his head about avenging his brother's death,?over the parent's objections.???? So now they have two dead sons.???? The parents took it very, very badly.......

This has been around before, but it is always good to resend.?
I am so proud that we are supporting our troops instead of degrading them as was done
during the war in Vietnam.

Click on the name and it will give details of the death
.?
Vietnam Wall

?

Vietnam Wall
First click on a state.? When it opens, scroll down to the city and the names will appear.? Then click on their names.? It should show you a picture of the person, or at least their bio?and medals.
This really is an amazing web site.? Someone spent a lot of time and effort to create it.
I hope that everyone who receives this appreciates what those who served in? Vietnam sacrificed for our country.
The link below is a virtual wall of all those lost during the Vietnam war with the names, bio's and other information on our lost heroes.? Those who remember that time frame, or perhaps lost friends or family can look them up on this site.? Pass the link on to others, as many knew wonderful people whose names are listed.

(Notice that a "Medium" is a size 14 - 16)??

????????????

Remember making an apron in Home Ec? Remember Home Ec? If we have to explain "Home Ec" you may delete this.I just don't have the energy anymore. Read below.

The History of? '
APRONS'

?

I don't think our kids?
know what an apron is.

The principal use of Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath because she only had a few and because it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and aprons required less material.? But along with that, it served as a potholder for
?removing?
hot pans from the oven.

?
It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears.
?

??

From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven.
?

When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids.
?

And when the weather was cold, Grandma wrapped it around her arms.
?

Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove.

Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.

?From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables.?
After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls.

?

In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees.

When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds.
?

When dinner was ready, Grandma walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men folk knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner.
?
It will be a long time before someone invents something that will replace that 'old-time apron' that served so many purposes.

?

Send this to those who would know (and love) the story about Grandma's aprons.
?

REMEMBER:

Grandma used to set her hot baked apple pies on the?window sillto cool.? Her granddaughters set theirs on the window sill?
to thaw.

?
They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron
.
?
I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron - but love...
??
