Top trite terms for 2009

jhdouglas59

You asked for it (or maybe not) but here is my list of top 10
trite terms for 2009:

10. Global economy
09. Carbon dioxide emissions
08. Eco-friendly
07. Going green
06. Cap and trade (should be Cap and Tax)
05. Healthcare crisis
04. Healthcare reform
03. Greenhouse gas
02. Carbon footprint
01. (Tie) Climate change
01. (Tie) Global warming

Looks like I'm out of touch with the times.

Keep driving your gas guzzlers which you forgot to trade in for the
Cash for Clunkers program.

I got my piece of the pork pie in July when I drove my 1993 Mazda
MPV to the Mazda dealer to trade in my MPV for a Mazda 5. Coincidentally, both Mazdas were made in Japan. Seems kind of weird
that the U S government let me buy a Japanese vehicle with the
Cash for Clunkers program, doesn't it? I could not find any eco-friendly vehicles from Government Motors (GM) that actually fit the
criteria for the mileage per gallon requirements for the program.

Lest you think I am not buying American, consider this:

The last time I tried to buy an American made vehicle I bought a 2003
Chevy Silverado which was made in Canada. Say what???

Eco friendly regards,

J Henry Curmudgeonmeister

P.S. I forgot to mention that I also traded in my 2002 Mazda 626
(made in America) along with my Japanese Mazda MPV to buy the Mazda 5.
I traded in 2 rice-burners for a newer rice-burner.

Alas! The shortest day of daylight is upon us today. The good news
is that spring is only 89 days away.

Enjoy the darkness and the heat I hope you all have at present to supplement the wintry blasts. Who knows what next year will bring
when the cap and trade nutcases tell the utilities to "go green".

Next year we will probably not be able to afford supplemental heat
from carbon belching power plants which will be taxed to extinction.

Sounds like a bleak future for coal miners.

Not much of a future for chimney sweepers either since fireplaces
will be outlawed because of the pollution caused by wood burning
fireplaces.

I guess that won't really matter, because tree cutting will be
outlawed also. So there won't be a source of firewood in the future.

I forgot to put "going green" on my most annoying list.

Maybe that should be the theme of top trite terms for 2009.

Cheers from your annoying pest,

Hi,
I want to share a little story on Tom Peters back in high school:
?
About 15-20 years ago, I had heard that Scott Peters (Tom's son) was stationed here at Moffett Field.???? I got his phone number from?his parents.??? So I called them up (his wife Sally, too) and I invited them to a local restaurant for lunch.???? We had the BEST time!!!!!???? During the course of the conversation, Glenn shared that as a football player for DHS, he was up against Scott's dad (remember how big Tom was?) in practice.??? Tom was on first string and Glenn was on second string and Tom really?bruised and battered Glenn.?? ??? Scott was in stitches as Glenn relayed this story.......and?Scott?told his father.???? Later that year, I ran into Tom Peters on my visit to Dalton.......and he said his son got the biggest kick out of that story........

Camille had emailed me in regard to the deaths, sorry I did not share them but ?thanks Gwen for passing it along. ? Pat and Cecil (?) Archer had lived in the house in front of ours on Terrace Circle. ?They were fine neighbors and helped out in the community and neighborhood. ?
I must make a confession regarding Patti Killian Archer. ?When we were growing up she lived in a house that was on main street next the what use to be Dr Bates office/home. ?She was always on the heavy side and she ran around with Sandra Blossfield who did not have the best reputation. ?I tried to hang around these girls but my parents forbid me to be seen with them. ?
?One of the reasons that I do not like the name Patti is because that was her name and I associated it with being fat. ?So there is my true Christmas confession in regard to vanity. ? Its not easy being human...........
I am off to make chicken pot pie. ?Enjoy the Season and don't forget the reason.

John,

?

Our seats at Charlotte were not particularly close to the stage, so beware!? Yes the earplugs work well and should not eliminate your enjoyment of the music.? Get those little cylindrical foam rubber ones.? They are fairly comfortable but do take just a little getting used to!

?

Enjoy the TSO,

Thanks for the advice. We are going to see TSO on December 26
in San Antonio at the AT&T Center (Spurs homecourt/also site of San Antonio Rodeo). At least the TSO concert is before the rodeo season
starts so we don't have to contend with animal smells--just sweating
people smells.

I imagine we will be among the oldest groupies there at the concert.

We have balcony nosebleed seats so hopefully the sound won't be
overwhelming. Do those earplugs work? Offhand, it sounds like wearing earplugs defeats the purpose of going to a live concert.
Maybe the earplugs help to reduce the loudness but you can actually
hear the concert? I have never tried the earplug routine, but maybe
I should buy some just in case.

Have a relatively ok day,

John
