(OOC-?recap: to start a new message chain and to make sure Sweet William has all the information)

You know that? The Princess Amenstar?was buried with a great magic item?(the Scepter of Skyfire),?which keeps away the Sand Demon called?¡°The Xilv¡¯ozath¡±.?

You also realize that the Djinni ¡°Jassan¡± cares not for his own freedom, but only for his beloved¡¯s. The Marid ¡°Bitrabi¡± has gone mad from seven thousand years of forced servitude guarding the sarcophagus, but Jassan is certain he can calm her and prevent her from slaughtering the part of would be rescuers.

Your task is to find and enter the tomb, free the Djinni ¡®Jassan¡¯ from his imprisonment, and prevent the Sand Demon from entering the world.

The Oracle places their knowledge of the location within your memories. You see the desert under the starry night sky, and a path leading to the mountains in the West and then to the South.

Cerina is certain she can track this.

And what do you do?

/DM

¡°Let¡¯s go tonight,¡± Sweet William suggests.

Tabby smiled back at the dragon-girl. "I could see Mister Sweet as he bashed that nasty old walking bones man with his very own phylactery!". If anyone could make an litch cry for his mummy in hell, it would be the half-orc.

*

She felt really bad for this 'Bitrabi'. who had to spend THOUSANDS of years just hanging around a sarcophagus! They could have at least left him some books. Or something to help form a hobby.

She nodded as Sweet William spoke. "Only way to travel here is during the night..."

The group hears a long "Ooooooo" come from North as the quest is set into their minds "Ah - oh - oo!" he continues to marvel. "This is quite a deep story unfolding now... yes, very interesting."

"This foe is a ancient battlemage lich..." he ticks his tongue "oh yes, a grand and most powerful foe they are."

But then... he stops marvelling all at once as if he has realized something very very important.?

He turns his attention to the Oracle "Speaking of power..." he clears?his throat as he approaches her "I would be a fool to pass up the opportunity to ask you a question."

"You must be able to see things, right? Maybe find people?" he then points at his belly... "Can you tell me more about this?" and he opens his robe just enough to expose the embossed sigil that lay beneath his skin.

"I've been told to seek out the Sybil of Ethaembroe... the Gnomish Oracle divine seer..." North pulls out the?wrinkled?old book page with a map on it that the man known as 'Q' gave to him in Alaghon.

"And I was instructed to travel to Waterdeep, then journey North past Beliard to Dessarin Hills... but the Sybil's location is not known beyond that.... Do you know?" he says with a smile.

The Oracle lifts its chin slightly and North¡¯s mind flashes back to a day about two decades ago when he was in Waterdeep at the Cartographer¡¯s Guild. A colleague had recently returned from exploring ruins in the Dessarin Valley and wanted to combine their sketched notes with a professional area survey. Tabby frowned. She was a fool as she could not think of a single question to ask the all-wise oracle.

She knew a very good question would slowly climb into her mind, but that would be days later and long after they had left this place.

The cat nodded her head as the wise warrior mentioned one of her favorite things to do, which was rest.

If all are agreed, you return to the Inn where Bakosh departs, you rest during the hottest part of the day, bathe, eat, drink, and prepare your spells for the next day.

As the sun sets, Cerina takes up the mantle of Guide and leads the caravan away from One Willow Oasis and the Valley of Shade.

Cerina will post the next portion of the journey¡

North agrees. He bids farewell to the Oracle with a wave and then approaches Bakosh before leaving.

"Bakosh... I'm surprised you've made it this far in life. I really thought we would lose you at some point on this journey." He grabs his hand and nods at Bakosh.

"Here." North puts the 6 gold pieces that he had asked Bakosh for back into the warriors hands.?

"You deserve this."

After Bakosh leaves, the party prepares for their own leave taking. The nomads are more than glad to help with the checking on and packing up the camels and wagons. Several empty barrels and skins are provided for water created by "North the Magnificient" as some of the older (and single) ladies have taken to calling him. Once all is prepared and about an hour after sunset the group heads out.

Cerina stations herself about 100' ahead of the company, watching the ground and sky for signs she is leading her friends the correct way. The sky is brilliantly clear, and the light from the stars and moon lights the ocean of sands up almost as bright as the sun, just without the heat. As the sand cools, creatures can be heard coming from their lairs to hunt, mostly desert rabbits and other "vermin."?

After four hours or so, Cerina stops and dismounts. She walks to the beginning of a rise. She kneels and seems to mess with the ground then, remounts and comes back. "That rise, the ground becomes more firm. Let me head up on foot to check out the other side. One of the hunters told me there is a well out this direction. If this is it, then it might be a nice place to take a break and maybe have a snack."?

"I miss the old days." Cthulhu

Tabby sighed. The good captain didn't even react to her hug? How could anyone not enjoy a hug from a cat?

And were those random people calling Mister North, "Maleficent"?? Why not Nifty North? Or Nice Guy North? Or Naughty North The Nearly Naked Gnome?

As the usual amounts of nonsense bounce around inside the cat's tiny head, she enjoys her travels so far. This was not good.

She knew something horrible was about to happen. Undead. Snakes. Rain. Undead snakes who could control the rain.

"Oh, snacks.", This wasn't the horrible part. Unless the snacks involved black licorice, which was the worst food ever, she was told the evilest of evil drow underneath? Shadowdale invented it to punish good little drow.

Cerina moves up to the top of the ridge and hunkers down. She then stands, wiping sand off of herself, and whistles for the party to join her. On the other side of the ridge, about 100' away, is a small group of shrubs and stunted trees, there is something in the middle of them protected by the plant barricade.

She felt really bad for this 'Bitrabi'. who had to spend THOUSANDS of years just hanging around a sarcophagus! They could have at least left him some books. Or something to help form a hobby.

She nodded as Sweet William spoke. "Only way to travel here is during the night..."

She knew a very good question would slowly climb into her mind, but that would be days later and long after they had left this place.
