After several hours in town, North returns to the Astorio Manor. He finds Flynn there preparing for their departure, and shortly thereafter Sweet William arrives as well.

The stable is large with a dozen stalls on each side of a surprisingly clean walkway. The left side stalls have camels and domesticated hybrid camelorps (a type of short necked camel milked like a cow), and the right side stalls have more exotic creatures such as ostrich, horses, an elephant, and something resembling a type of gold and orange striped lion with six legs.

Just outside the stables, four camels have been hooked up to draft sleds. The sleds are piled high with rations, waterkins, and folded yurts, amongst other supplies.
