May 11, 1975 The NYCTA closed the BMT Culver Shuttle from 9th Avenue on the West End line to Ditmas Avenue on the Culver line because of deteriorating rail condition's. It was the last elevated line in which the third rail was in the elevated position. An NYCTA worker played an accordion on the last train. May 9, 1846 The partially completed Southern Railroad of Michigan is sold by the state, and along with the former Palmyra & Jacksonburgh RR is reorganized into the Michigan Southern Railroad (later MS&NI, LS&MS, NYC). The targeted western terminal of the line is changed from New Buffalo MI to Chicago IL.

May 10, 2021 The CSX-owned Port Huron & Detroit roundhouse in Port Huron, MI is demolished. The structure was in severe disrepair with no roof and one crumbling wall. It was built in 1920 and then rebuilt in 1926 following a massive fire.
