Two questions
Durs Koenig
Thank you Andy, the flyer states the DQ-1W has a frequency response of 20 - 120 Hz.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDurs, the DQ-1 passive crossover is set for 80 or 60 Hz and I have both the DQ-10¡¯s and the DQ-20i¡¯s, the 10¡¯s are more dynamic but the 20¡¯s are a sweeter sound, more crisp and pronounced. That is how I see it and love them both.On Jul 19, 2020, at 6:14 PM, Andy Heckl <andyheckl@...> wrote:

Bruce,
I love your set-up.? I saved the image, it brought a smile to my face.? Wish I was there.
Thanks Bruce, good info on the sounds.

re: Second question I have the DQ-20 (not the i suffix), and DQ-10 (earlier serial number). Am listening to an LP on the DQ-20 now actually. It is a tough question, which is why I still have both. I am going to invent some terms here. The DQ-10, with five drivers spread on two axes, creates more distinct points of sound at each speaker. I can hear flute there and drums in a different spot (I mostly do classical). My kids, who played different string instruments, and therefore sat in many high end high-school orchestra sessions, say the sound of the DQ-20 (one axis of drivers) seems more realistic. So the DQ-10 has more "local sound stage" and the DQ-20 makes a more accurate sound and has better "between the speakers" sound stage. I don't know if this helps - I don't have a "golden ear".so I can't give you a critical music reviewer essay. I do like my classical and jazz, and have an electronics background, I should also say percussion seems "tighter" on the 20, more realistic drum kicks. Of course, the 20 is newer, so I may be hearing component age and not original differences. Both of these impressions are with the same system: Technics SL-1200mk2 with Ortofon Concorde with stylus 30 (A KAB special), Dolan PM-1 feeding a Parasound HCA-2200ii. I have heard rumors on forums about who designed each and when Jon Dahlquist was around, but no facts. -----Original Message----- From: Durs Koenig <durs@...> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Sent: Sun, Jul 19, 2020 5:43 pm Subject: [DahlquistSpeakers] Two questions
Hello,
Anyone know the frequency specs of the DQ-1W?
Any consensus if the DQ-20's are better than the DQ-10's?
Thank you.

Well done Sherman.? Thank you for your well written thoughts.
I know it is tough to describe sound-stages.? Glad to hear your
comments about the DQ-20.?

Thank you for sending the spec sheet.? For those who didn't open the attachment,
the recommended frequency range of the driver in the DQ-1W is 25 - 1000 hz.
I got the bug to upgrade my speakers, unable to pull the trigger on anything because
the DQ-10 & DQ-1W combination is so good that I might be disappointed with new
expensive speakers.
