Tilt or not

I have my DQ 10¡¯s sitting on top of subs , toed in slightly to my position. It just occurred to me that perhaps tilting in might screw with timing of phased array ? Thought?

Not...I reversed my original stands with the lip to the front to tilt them....bad idea as the speakers were no longer beaming at ear level and sounded lifeless.

Depends on? your listening position,?I think. Try it and see how it sounds.?

My listening position is low...maybe a new armchair is needed...but not now.

I saw this post and think tilt is worth investigating.? I have been scheming to build something that would let me move my DQ-10s about without me leaving my listening position.? I don't have a memory that lets me remember in great detail how different the speakers sound from tweak to tweak.? Toe-in, distance from wall, distance apart, and tilt were all on my list.? If you could just move a control back and forth to test, I bet you could really dial them in.?

I say do not fool with the phased array magic. Tilting will change the arrival time of the sound coming from the various drivers. This is how Dahlquist elevated a collection of nothing special garden variety drivers into a truly special speaker. ?

+1!

Hi John.? Different seating heights would in fact qualify as a tilt of the speaker relative to the listener.? Might need tilt control to get back to the original intended relationship.? Just my two cents :)

Exactly, I lowered mine and? they seemed to come alive. I think you nailed it, they have a Sweet Spot and If and that's a big if. You can find that spot? Brother they sing. I have mine slightly toed in. Saweet?
