Hello everyone,
I’ve tried emailing Regnar, without response and just tried calling, but, get an operator. Are they still open for business, does anyone know?
Thanks,
John

Hi, Bill,
Two rheostats for the DQ10’s and their corresponding knobs, if possible.
Thanks,
John

You know those Regnar folks are strange. I know they do great work. But the lack of communication is not very professional. I wonder why they act that way. Aren’t there other vendors out there?

I had a good Regnar experience about 20 years ago, I dealt with a fellow named Joe. They first sent me collapsed empty boxes, I sent the speakers in and they sent them back via freight. The work was excellent.
But it always seemed like I was dealing with an enterprise that was teetering on collapse, I can’t exactly put my finger on it but that’s how I felt. Communication was spotty at best.
And they still have a poorly designed webpage that hasn’t had a real upgrade in a millennium.
YMMV I’m sure…

I had my crossovers restored by Renar on my Dahlquist 909’s and they did a great job. But I had to remove the crossovers and ship them to their shop. I life in Long Island and wanted to drop the entire speaker off but they wouldn’t allow walk-in’s. I wasn’t
comfortable taking the crossovers apart but Joe told me how to do it. Overall everything worked out but there is a weird feeling you have after it’s all over. Like visiting the wizard of oz or something. Anyway the speakers sound great!?

I haven’t had my 10’s in probably 35 years but joined the group because I considered buying a pair five or ten years ago but doubt I ever will. I did accidentally make contact with I think a Grado engineer named Bruce Chen ten years ago. Former Dahlquist employee who said at that time Jon was still alive but in poor health and that he had spoken with him in the last week. But that’s been a decade. He said he still had a pair of 10’s in his office. But back to the topic. That Regnar deal. It sounds like they sort of work if they feel like it or if people show up. Maybe they have other gigs making money from it. If I need work on my house, I can get it done for 20 cents on the dollar and I usually will. But it’s often a deal where people have so much baggage, like drugs/alcohol or other issues that depending on the job I might just say the hell with it and find someone more legit and maybe pay 50 cents on the dollar. I want them in, out, and gone. I have heard people mention a place like Millersound? On here. Don’t know if they do parts/service or both. But I would grow frustrated dealing with Regnar and their turnaround time. But that’s just me.?

I've been trying to contact them for weeks, via email, with no response and so I called them, Regnar, yesterday and the operator would answer, each time, telling me that "your call cannot be completed as dialed, please check your number ... " I'm assuming the phone number is no longer valid.?

Well, their website is still up and apparently functional, but I guess all that proves is that their website looks like it is functional.? I walked partway through the purchase of a supertweeter, just to see what would happen, and lost interest when I reached this message: ? ??NOTE:?For Security & Verification Purposes,?Once Your Order Is Placed, ??????????????????????????????????????????????A Representative Will Call To Process Your Order (During Business Hours).?Thank you. ? None of what they offer is unique to my knowledge? Simply speakers sell both new are refurbed woofer. There’s plenty of replacements for other drivers. I have several boards as they come up on eBay .btw complete sets can be bought for 300$ so ?prob least exp way to obtain drivers??
There are at least 3 cap and parts list in fikes as well as complete restoration instructions from wires, caps, resistors.?
Regnar is a one or two person operation servicing a 1976 model line?

Thank you, Richard.?
While I can see the obvious benefit of bypassing the rheostats, there are times when I’ve had to manipulate the tremble to accommodate a source; I’m not sure that bypassing these would be practical, at least maybe not in my case.?
Again, thanks,
John?

I had a good Regnar experience about 20 years ago, I dealt with a fellow named Joe. They first sent me collapsed empty boxes, I sent the speakers in and they sent them back via freight. The work was excellent.
But it always seemed like I was dealing with an enterprise that was teetering on collapse, I can’t exactly put my finger on it but that’s how I felt. Communication was spotty at best.
And they still have a poorly designed webpage that hasn’t had a real upgrade in a millennium.
YMMV I’m sure...

Use you amp/pre controls which are far more accurate in controlling just the freq you want. The global potentiometer is very poor design as it not decree sensitive.?

While I can see the obvious benefit of bypassing the rheostats, there are times when I’ve had to manipulate the tremble to accommodate a source; I’m not sure that bypassing these would be practical, at least maybe not in my case.?
Again, thanks,
John? ?
This is what regnar uses. Frankly most people bypass this!! On Sat, Dec 18, 2021 at 11:46 AM John Boros < jsjb@...> wrote:
I'm looking for a new pair of rheostats - is there another source for them??

What do u need them for. All the parts are listed in the files section and they don’t make ANY PARTS! They buy and resell at much higher prices
This is the real answer. They have all the business they are willing to handle, and have decided that being polite and/or professional is not worth the bother.

Just saw this on their site: IMPORTANT NOTE: We are backed logged with items. Call us for a shipping appointment. Any items shipped to us will be refused without a shipping authorization number. Thank you.

?I haven’t had my 10’s in probably 35 years but joined the group because I considered buying a pair five or ten years ago but doubt I ever will. But that’s just me.

I had my crossovers restored by Renar on my Dahlquist 909’s and they did a great job. But I had to remove the crossovers and ship them to their shop. I life in Long Island and wanted to drop the entire speaker off but they wouldn’t allow walk-in’s. I wasn’t comfortable taking the crossovers apart but Joe told me how to do it. Overall everything worked out but there is a weird feeling you have after it’s all over. Like visiting the wizard of oz or something. Anyway the speakers sound great!
