I have two DQ-10a, two DQ-1w. and an LP1 crossover. I am the original
owner. I purchased them directly from Dahlquist. I was able to do
that because, at the time, I worked for an electronics magazine that
covered audio and other topics. So, I had industry connections.

The rule of thumb that I have always followed is that stereo
loudspeaker systems should form either an isoceles triangle with the
prime listening position, or an equilateral triangle with the prime
listening position.

This page,
<>,
recommends an equilateral-triangle arrangement.

Over the years, I have had my Dahlquists in several different rooms. I
have generally used an isoceles-triangle arrangement. The spacing has
depended upon the dimensions of the particular room in which the
Dahlquists were mounted at the time.

What do u do in this environment ? I have a wall on left side the captures sound and reflects it out. Left speaker always dominates the right in volume?

That is a difficult situation. You might be able to compensate, at
least to an extent, with the L-R balance control on the preamplifier,
integrated amplifier, or receiver. There is a lot of furniture in that
room, and most of the chairs are in non-ideal positions. The only one
that comes close to a good placement is the one in the midle along the
long side of the table closest to the camera. I would not attempt to
do serious listening in that room other than with headphones.

My DQ-20s as well as my my amp/player have been not used for the last 7-8 years. I was listening to music using my bedside "headphones setup".? Recently, I decided to do a "closet remodeling" in my bedroom.? I'm waiting for 2 subs (Rythmic F12s) to add to this this setup. I'll place them either in the corners of my room or between DQ20s. I have no idea which placement is better but I just need to wait and check out which position is the best. I'll appreciate any suggestions from you guys anyway. Thank you.

The placement of subwoofers is generally not as demanding as the
placement of full-range speaker systems. Our ears are not far enough
apart dor our auditory system to be able to act as an interferometer
and to discern direction at bass frequencies. Placement in a corner
can result in more acoustic loading. That may be advantageous or
disadvantageous, depending on the particular situation, what one is
trying to achieve, and how demanding the listener is.

Thank you. DQ-20s will be set to "small" in the Oppo bass management. Yes, I'm not sure if the placement the subs in the corners or "inside the DQ-20s" is optimal. It will look good but I do not want to a "good looking setup." I need to have a setup which will sound good.?

As the Romans said, "Experientia docet." In other words, try them in
both positions, and hear what results you obtain.

Good luck,

Thanks. May I ask how far apart you set them apart?? My position will be about 15' from the TV/speakers.

In their current positions, the two DQ-10a are ~ 10 feet (three metres)
apart from each other, and are ~ two feet (60 cm) in front of one wall
of the listening room. The two DQ-1W are adjacent to each other and
are in the center, between the two DQ-10a. Neither of the DQ-10a is
close to a corner of the room. The listening location that I use most
often is ~ 12 feet (3,6 metres) away from the speaker stacks, and is
centered left to right with respect to the stacks. The two DQ-10a are
angled somewhat toward the listening location.

Can you send a photo/ drawing of you potential room?

Thank you John. My DQ-20 are about 6' apart and about 1.5' from from the wall right now.

I have my DQ20s 8 feet apart and 4 feet from the back wall. And they are slightly toed-in. Just 5 or 10 degrees.?
