DQ-10's

Hello,

It's been a long time since my DQ-10's were up and running.? Attached is a picture of them in my newly built out pool room / soon to be bar.? Pool table is a late 1950's AMF Grand Prix, restored from an MIT Frat House.? I have had the DQ's for 30 plus years.? Reformed the woofers a few years back; other than that original, mirrored pair.? I did change the grill cloth at the same time, as I liked the look better.? Love the sound!

Being powered by a Onkyo AV TX-SR503 and AudioSource EQ-One.? Would like to add a Dahlquist sub and more power but haven't quite found what I'm looking for at the right price.? ?

Enjoy the posts here on these speakers and related items.??

On a side note, I somehow "lost" the microphone for the EQ.? My understanding is the mike is a "flat response" type.? Used with the pink noise feature to tune the speakers to the room.? Any idea where I could find a replacement or similiar mic that would work?

Thanks!??

We're kindred spirits Kevin. I have my cream colored DQ-10's hooked up to a TX-SR805!

Bet you could find the mic on eBay. Rather old item so maybe someone has an orphaned one to sell, although not sure I'd trust it over your own ears (but worth the 10 minutes to experiment!)

About 45 years ago I listed after a pair but bought DCM Timewindows instead- also great speakers but chosen because they were a bit less $. Last month I was gifted a pair that were not used for 30 years but were in rough shape cosmetically. I stripped them down, and rebuilt the from top to bottom, I now have pushed aside my Wilson Sophia 3’s which are no slouch but seem to enjoy the airiness of the DQ-10’s maybe a bit more??

any opinions on how your Dahlquists may stack up when compared to other current day speakers?

Interesting, those are the first I've noticed with orange drop caps.?

I've seen another pair in the sn 15xxx range with those polyester film caps. There was at least one dealer I know of (can't recall the name at the moment) that only sold their DQ-10s after changing out the electrolytics at the time with film types and stopped when Dahlquist introduced their factory polyester caps at sn 22000. There were also several outfits selling various film type caps as upgrade kits for the model. These aren't factory caps, so they're likely from one of those two cases.
