Re: Dahlquist DQ-30 - amp question
I did try my Little Dot tube preamp with the carver amp and dq30's and the sound was very impressive. I went back to the carver c-2 because I needed the other inputs. But it gave me something to

Re: Dahlquist DQ-30 - amp question
Hi Mark, THis helps me too. I agree with your assessment. But had not thought of the tube-power solution. Do you know what the 30s are rated for bass-wise? I?have had as much as 200 transistor wpc

Re: Dahlquist DQ-30 - amp question
I agree with Bob. You shouldn't need more than 100 watts. The 30s are more efficient than the 10 and 20. They're rated at 91 dB compared to 85 dB for the DQ-10 and 87 dB for the DQ-20. When I owned

Re: Dahlquist DQ-30 - amp question
You DQ-30?s are the least power hungry of the line, due to their bass reflex loading of the woofer. You should be just fine unless you listen to some sonic blockbusters at

Dahlquist DQ-30 - amp question
Hi Group, I have recently purchased some very nice condition DQ-30's and very happy with them. They are being powered with a Carver TFM-15 amp, preamp is Carver C-2. The amp is 100rms into 8 ohms

Re: Clean or replace the L-Pad??
Unfortunately I spoke too soon. The second one was damaged by the person who took it apart....I won't say exactly who that was but I now need a new one. I know Regnar sells one but $20 seems a bit

Re: Clean or replace the L-Pad??
I pulled the pots apart and the issue was really a defect in manufacturing. I'm not sure how they ever worked correctly. There was glue that had squeezed up the outside when they were assembled and

Re: Clean or replace the L-Pad??
You should be able to clean them. DeOxit and then FaderLube to keep them going. Some lpads need to have the sweeper burnished or sanded VERY lighty to remove the oxidation. Cheers, Bob One of my

Clean or replace the L-Pad??
One of my pairs has some dead spots in the L-pad. I'm wondering if they can be cleaned successfully with deoxit? If not, what is the recommended replacement part? 25ohm/3 watt? I realize I'll have to

new 2 me DQ10's.."Upgradepath"?
Hi I picked up some DQ10's last week. Love the sound, but they definitely like more power. I have mine on a Carver M500 and it sounds pretty good. Have not gotten them 'naked' yet, probably do that

FS: DQ10's with stands, DFW pickup only, $375 OBO
I have a pair of DQ10's with original stands. I do believe they are still in original configuration, no modifications have been done, at least not by me. Asking $375 for a local pickup. I need to

Re: New poll for Dahlquist
Not a fair poll, as few have even heard the DQ-20's. if you own 10's, but have bever owned 20's, you'll think 10's are best there are.

Re: Beating the Dead Horse: Stacking revisited...
Dan, While that may create a real big sound I don't think you could ever get them to image properly because your respective sources would all be too far apart from each other. And the goal of the

This may sound stupid but if one were to use 4 DQ10's ( and I do if I can find the right solution) why not just stand them side by side lined up perfectly??? ? Dan

Re: Beating the Dead Horse: Stacking revisited...
Thanks Bill - there were a couple reasons for coming up with this option: * Eliminate the need for the frame * Keep the cost down (in this case there is almost none except for some minor hardware

As I look at my stack I can see what you are considering and that it does make "some" sense. It would reduce the ht. from 69" down to 51" or maybe even 49". (The driver boards are separated by 2" in
