I see Ragnar doesn’t have them, Madisound may have something simalar. But would have to change both speakers. Not as many dq20 made for parts! That could render them not economical to fix? Between caps and two mid drivers.?

John is right.? Film capacitors have no polarity.? Electrolytic capacitors are usually polarized, but film caps are not.? If you still want further instructions then do this: solder them so that the label is on the top, and you can read it left to right.? That way you know what you’re looking at twenty years from now when you think about refreshing them again.
As for the sound, it all depends on how much the old capacitors drifted from their original value.? You should generally expect them to sound “accurate” after a recap, by which I mean closer to how they were expected to sound by Dahlquist at the factory floor.? And since this is a pair of DQ-20s, that should mean they’re going to sound great. ?

Re: DQV-OX40CA-B Center Channel
Thanks Rich.? It was $30 plus like $18 shipping, so I bought it hoping it is as good as their other speakers.? Guess curiosity got the best of me!? I just picked up a set of early DQ-10s this weekend.? It looks like some work has been done to them, so the next step is the investigation to see what.? Amazed by the sound!

Re: DQV-OX40CA-B Center Channel
I just came across a DQV-OX40CA-B center channel speaker.? I find no reference to it anywhere on the internet is quick search.? Anyone know anything about it?

Some great songs to appreciate your speakers...
Came across this site and have enjoyed the songs very much. See what you think. :-)

Lots of variables mentioned : another is the power of the sub amp! Another the recording!?

Thanks for your input. I spent some time yesterday playing around and realized it can be very music genre dependent. I'm at 5.5, 0, 65,56, 0, 5.5 for the time being.
?
I actually have the original manual.

Re: DQ-LP1 settings query
This will be completely room and woofer placement dependent. It takes some work, but you will know the right settings when you hear the subs contribute to the solidity of the music and ?become omnidirectional.
?
I started at (from left to right) 6, 0, 65, 65, 0, 6. I then dialed them in to where the subs disappeared as sources. For me, this is currently 4, 0, 65, 62, 0, 6.
?
My subs are on same wall as my sofa, in the corners facing the DQ-10s, and at unequal distances ?to the my ideal listening spot. I will sometimes up the level half a dot or so if I want the bass to pound and annoy my wife.
?
Do you have the LP-1 manual? I believe it is here in the files section. I found it invaluable in my set up efforts.?
|
|
Quick question for those running DQ-10s and 2 DQ-1 woofers through the DQ-LP1. What are your preferred settings?
Cheers
