OT - GoFundMe for a good cause - and please help pass the word
Just wanting to share this, not soliciting, but this is a good cause if anyone is so inclined. We have been getting milk delivered from this local farm for years. Jeff delivers in any weather, holiday or no. If there is any problem, such as truck breakdown, he texts to advise of the delivery change. Jeff is a great young man running his family business which has been in operation since the 1800's. We got a text from Jeff a few days ago that the Dairy lost their entire milking and bottling buildings and they are closed down until they can rebuild. No one was hurt and most of the cows survived, but the business is lost for now. Looking at the news articles and videos below, it is apparent that the Brunton Dairy is loved and supported by the communities. https://gofund.me/07c979f2 https://bruntondairy.com/ https://bruntonmilkman.com/about-us/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064849951726 News Links and Videos https://www.cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/video/fire-tears-through-brunton-dairy-dairy-farm/ https://www.dailydispatch.com/StateNews/PA/2023/October/27/VIDEO.Massive.fire.tears.through.Pittsburgharea.dairy.farm.aspx Massive fire tears through Pittsburgh-area dairy farm Source: KDKA-TV CBS 2 Pittsburgh Published: 10/27/2023 12:00 AM A massive fire ripped through a dairy farm in Beaver County on Thursday. Officials said crews were called to Brunton Dairy on Ridge Road in Independence Township for the fire at around 5 p.m. Brunton Dairy is a seventh-generation family-owned business that serves the area. The fire destroyed its milking barn and bottling plant. It's a devastating loss for the family and their business. Brunton's milk is sold at Giant Eagle and smaller retailers around the area. "This whole community supports this family farm," said Nancy Wolfe, the mother of one of the owners. "All these residences here are considered to be part of the farm family." KDKA-TV spoke with a neighbor who saw the flames and ran to help the animals, following his gut instinct. Book - Non Fiction - The Cat Men of Gotham: Tales of Feline Friendships in Old New York ,by Peggy Gavan
The Cat Men of Gotham: Tales of Feline Friendships in Old New York by Peggy Gavan https://we.tl/t-2PvAJJ7BwF Winner of the 2019 Certificate of Excellence and MUSE Medallion from the Cat Writers Association The nineteenth century was a rough time to be a stray cat in New York City. The city’s human residents dealt with feline overpopulation by gassing unwanted cats or tossing them in rivers. But a few lucky strays were found by a diverse array of men—including firemen, cops, athletes, and politicians—who rescued them from the streets and welcomed them into their homes and hearts. This book tells the stories of these heroic cat men of Gotham and their beloved feline companions. Not only does it introduce us to some remarkable men, but we get to meet many extraordinary cats as well, from Chinese stowaways prowling the Chelsea Piers to the sole feline survivor of the USS Maine explosion. Among the forty-two profiles, we find many feline Cinderella stories, as humble alley cats achieved renown as sports team mascots, artists’ muses, and even presidential pets. Sure to appeal to cat fanciers and history fans alike, The Cat Men of Gotham will give you a new appreciation for Old New York and the people and animals who made it their home. As it takes you on a journey through the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn, it will amuse and astound you with tales of powerful men and their pussycats. Ginny Butterfield Cranberry Twp, Pa

Remembering 911
A friend shared his memories of 9/11 and asked who remembered where they were on that fateful day? I sent my reply, but thought I would share it also, It is certainly a day no one can forget! Who could forget? Oh I sure do remember! Seems like yesterday. I had a long commute to work, about 90 min one way and I went in late and left late to avoid traffic. I was pulling out of my garage when I heard a plane hit the World Trade Center... my first thought was that it was a small plane and a horrible accident. Then when I heard it was a commercial airliner , I was chilled and stunned. Hard to believe it could be an accident. Then , on my way to work, heard about the second tower and knew immediately it was terrorism... the rest of the drive was surreal like I was in a fog.... wondering what would happen next. Then the Pentagon, even more surreal! As I got to the work parking lot I heard the tower collapsed and I visualized a collapse from the point of impact and above... Had no idea till later it was the entire building then both towers. Once inside the office, everyone was in a conference room watching the TV, then we heard about Somerset, PA... totally surreal day! Something in my gut told me that the passengers took heroic action before another target was hit. Have never visited the memorials in NYC but have been to the Somerset Flight 93 memorial several times from the early makeshift memorial to almost what it is today (saw the museum but not the Bell Towers yet). We are only about an hour and half away from Somerset. Have seen the Budweiser tribute and it makes me cry every time the Clydesdales bow down in tribute. Here are the Budweiser tributes on utube in case anyonnot seen it: Budweiser '9/11 Tribute' Ad: Super Bowl 2011 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyP0JsyvYnA&ab_channel=CauseMarketing Respect 20th Anniversary Tribute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riB30oZ4Q9k&ab_channel=Budweiser And here is a link to the Flight 93 Memorial https://www.nps.gov/flni/index.htm https://www.nps.gov/flni/learn/photosmultimedia/photogalleries.htm Also sharing this link: https://www.myktis.com/2023/09/where-was-god-on-911/ It’s hard to believe that September 11 marks 22 years since the horrific terrorist attacks that forever changed the United States of America. You probably remember where you were, but many asked “Where was God?” I was able to speak with Lisa Jefferson shortly after 9/11. Lisa was the GTE operator who took the call from Todd Beamer who was on flight 93 which crashed in the Shanksville, PA, farm field. She prayed the Lord’s Prayer with Todd that morning and promised to tell his wife that he loved her before he put the phone down and said to the others “Are you ready? Let’s roll!” and he and other brave passengers are believed to have averted the hijackers and the flight that was believed to be headed for the White House. Lisa wrote a book titled “Called” and I asked her to read the poem in the back of her book titled, “Meet me in the Stairwell.” I believe it answers definitively where God was on that fateful day. ‘MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL’ author unknown You say you will never forget where you were when you heard the news On September 11, 2001. Neither will I. I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man who called his wife to say ‘Good-Bye.’ I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the peace to say, ‘Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK..I am ready to go.’ I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children. I held her up as she tried to understand his words and as she realized he wasn’t coming home that night. I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a woman cried out to Me for help. ‘I have been knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!’ I said. ‘Of course I will show you the way home – only believe in Me now.’ I was at the base of the building with the Priest ministering to the injured and devastated souls. I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He heard my voice and answered. I was on all four of those planes, in every seat, with every

Hank Williams, Jr repost
Hank Williams, Jr just climbed the charts with this post! Posted by Hank Williams Jr. “If you are offended by something then leave it alone. Cracker Barrel offends you, then eat somewhere else, but I like it so leave it alone. A statue offends you, then don’t go see it, but I like to see them as my history, so leave them alone. Don’t like meat, then eat vegetables but let me eat what I want to. Don’t like Gone With The Wind, then don’t watch it or read the book, but I like them, so leave them alone. I like worshipping God, but you are offended, so don’t go to church, but let me go. I read the Bible, but you are an atheist and want Bibles banned. So don’t read it, but don’t say I can’t. Leave it alone. You don’t like the names of military bases, but I do, so leave them alone and stay away from them. You don’t like the police force, then don’t call them when you are in trouble, but leave them alone so I feel safer having them. Why are the things you want so much more important than what I want? Are your demands greater than my likes? Is it because you use intimidation, blackmail and force to get your way- that you do? Let’s make a deal. I will leave what you like alone and you leave what I like alone and the world will be a better place for everyone." Copy And Paste if it so moves you to do so, but it’s exactly how I feel!! ENOUGH already people!!!WAKE UP AMERICA. I totally agree. Borrowed from a friends page. -- Ginny Butterfield Cranberry Twp, Pa

OT (Off Topic) - Beware of the 'Say Yes' phone scam
The article below by Curt the Cyber Guy has some good advice... I have gotten many of those "Can You hear Me OK?" robo calls! I never say "Yes", usually just hang up. I have less aggravation now as I do two easy things: For iPhone I changed a setting to only ring for incoming phone numbers on my contact list. Everything else goes to voice mail and missed call list. Legit callers can leave a voice message. For home phone (land line) I bought a device called "Sentry" from Amazon about 5 years ago. Been running strong on the same small battery since then. It intercepts incoming calls not previously white listed with a message I recorded saying "I do not accept solicitation calls. If this is not a solicitation call press 1". Most garbage calls are robo calls until you answer. For these, no one can "press 1" and the call goes to the proverbial bit bucket. I get a single ring on my home phone to alert to the call, but then the call disconnects. I can check call history if I really want to. However, if it is a legit call and the caller presses 1, they go to a speaker/voice mail where they can leave a message. I can hear the message and pick up. If I answer, the call is automatically white listed so the caller will never hear that "press 1" again. I highly recommend this or similar device. Mine was about $75 and worth every penny! Using the above tactics, I am virtually free from garbage, junk, and scam calls --Ginny Here is the article: How to avoid giving robocallers what they want in the common "Say Yes" phone scam. Kurt "The CyberGuy" Knutsson explains how to protect yourself. https://www.foxnews.com/tech/beware-say-yes-phone-scam Beware of the 'Say Yes' phone scam Don't give robocallers what they're looking for By Kurt Knutsson, CyberGuy Report Fox News Published August 18, 2023 9:05am EDT Facebook Twitter Flipboard Comments Print Email Beware of the 'Say Yes' phone scam Kurt "The CyberGuy" Knutsson explains how to avoid giving robocallers what they want. Have you ever received a call from an unknown number, only to be greeted with the question, "Can you hear me?" This is a common tactic used in the "Say Yes" phone scam, which has been around for a while and is once again making the rounds, according to the Better Business Bureau. STAY UPDATED WITH KURT’S FREE CYBERGUY NEWSLETTER TO GET SECURITY ALERTS, QUICK TIPS, TECH REVIEWS AND EASY HOW-TO’S TO MAKE YOU SMARTER It’s important to be aware of this scam and others like it to avoid falling victim to them. Here’s what you need to know to protect yourself. What is the 'Say Yes' phone scam? The "Say Yes" phone scam is a type of fraud where a person receives a call from an unknown number. If they answer it, the robocaller on the other end of the line will ask a question that prompts the victim to say "yes." This could be something as simple as "Can you hear me?" or a more specific question like "Is this [your name]?" or "Do you have time to talk?" The goal of the scammer is to record the victim saying "yes." Scammers can record your voice saying "yes" and attempt to use it to authorize credit card charges. (CyberGuy.com) What the victim doesn't realize is that "yes" is being voice recorded, and once the robocaller has that "yes," they can use it for whatever they want while pretending to be you. They might use it to authorize charges to your credit card or cellphone bill, to sign up for a program that you'd be charged for or something else. MORE: HOW TO AVOID BEING DUPED BY ROBOCALLS NOW AND FOREVER What if I got a call like this, and I said yes? If this "Say Yes" phone scam sounds like something you've experienced before, there's no need to panic. It's not a guarantee that your voice will definitely be used for something that will affect you negatively. However, it is important to be cautious when answering calls from unknown numbers and to be aware of the potential for this type of scam. You should also keep an eye on your bank and credit card statements and make sure that there aren't any charges on there that you did not authorize. I also recommend if you do receive a call
