Progress report
Hello Dave,
there must be something i don't know, maybe by my stupidity. I have 557 QSOs with WAB references. I have a UDI in my advance filters, captured < WAB >. Filtering? via UDI shows 557 QSOs. This morning i tried to make a progress report WAB. Surprise: using the <WAB> button shows only one single QSO in the report. The button <user> togheter with the selected UDI, shows 409 different WAB references. The button WABP works fine (10). IOTA works fine (356). DXCC works fine (263). Sota works fine (679). Etc. What am i missing? From wich source the progress report <WAB> is generated? Thanks again. Eddy ON5JK |

From wich source the progress report <WAB> is generated? + The reference documentation for the WAB Progress Report states "The WAB button generates a text report from QSOs in the Log Page Display showing progress towards the Worked All Britain awards based on each British, Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish, Guernsey, Jersey, and Isle of Man QSO's WAB square specified in its Region item." + A "WAB Square" is defined in note7 beneath the large table: + It cites the grid reference system defined on this "Worked All Britain" web page + Thus, you should 1. review the "WAB Square" format to be sure that what your recorded in the user-defined item your created complies with that format 2. filter the Log Page Display to contain all QSOs that contain a "WAB Square" in that user-defined item 3. review those QSOs to make certain that all are in Britain 4. make a backup copy of your log 5. use the "Advanced Sorts, Filters, and Modifiers" window's "Modify QSOs" panel to copy the contents of your user-defined item to the Region item APP_DXKEEPER_REGION in each QSO in the Log Page Display; see 73, Dave, AA6YQ |

I received your instructions to create a WAB report 22/07/2024. With a hughe delay, i started today with this operation, after a fresh startup of the PC. But there are questions, because i'm affrayed to mash-up things. (Not an IT'er !) I regret it. In step 2 i filtered and noticed 1342 items containing a WAB square in Britain. Then in step 4 i should make a backup copy of my log.? Knowing that a backup is created every time i close down, is it still needed at that moment? Most recent backup created yesterday at close-down of the station. If really necessary, how do i make the copy while all the usual screens are opened? In step 5, if i understand well, do i have to copy every singel QSO one by one? 1342 willtake time! Thanks for your support Dave. and as stated in the description of the WAB Progress Report in WAB squares should be recorded in each QSO's Region item: You recorded WAB squares in a user-defined item. The procedure I posted for you back in July copies copies the WAB squares you logged in each QSO's user-defined item to its Region item so that the WAB progress report will work correctly. You need only execute this procedure once: 1. review the "WAB Square" format to be sure that what your recorded in the user-defined item your created complies with that format 2. filter the Log Page Display to contain all QSOs that contain a "WAB Square" in your user-defined item; you didn't say which user-defined item you're using to record WAB squares, so I can't give you the exact SQL expression with which to filter the Log Page Display. It will look like LEN(App_DXKeeper_User_Defined_X)>0 where X is the number of the user-defined item you used. 3. review those QSOs to make certain that all are in Britain 4. make a backup copy of your log This is a step that is always taken before using the "Modify QSOs" panel to modify many QSOs. On the Configuration window's Log tab, click the "Backup Folder" panel's Backup button 5. use the "Advanced Sorts, Filters, and Modifiers" window's "Modify QSOs" panel to copy the contents of your user-defined item to the Region item APP_DXKEEPER_REGION in each QSO in the Log Page Display: 5a. set the "Item Name" selector to APP_DXKEEPER_REGION 5b. set the "Item new value" to < App_DXKeeper_User_Defined_X> where X is the number of the user-defined item you used (same as in step 2 above) 5c. click the Mod button 6. check your results in the Log Page Display to make sure you are happy with them 7. click the WAB button "Other progress reports" panel on the Main window's "Check Progress" tab. 73, Dave, AA6YQ I received your instructions to create a WAB report 22/07/2024. The UDI i use, captured "WAB", is "" LEN(DXKeeper_User_Defined 6)>0 "" The log was filtered that way, resulting in 1342 items in the filtered log. 3)Reviewed all QSO's in the log. 4)I made a backup copy of the log, and saved the Backup in a new file. 5a)The "Item Name" selector is set to APP_DXKeeper_Region 5b) The "item new value" is set to APP_DXKeeper_User_Defined 6 6)Clicked the MOD button. After filtering? LEN(App_DXKeeper_User_Defined_6)>4 i did find one eroneous notification in the WAB Column of my Log. (4 Characters plus spacings, so more than 4. After correction of the Column, WAB column seemed empty as expected. Again filtering the LEN(App_User_Defined_6)>0 showed the 1341 QSO's with a 4 Character notification of WAB. But i still do not know what was wrong with my Log and why my "modification" as proposed did not work. I'm not familiar with programms and software, i growed up with vacuum tubes, small an big, till 175 Kgr/pce. So please, i'd love to receive more about this issue, and please step-by-step instructions. I'm 84 years old, but still want to learn things. The log you sent me is a RAR file. I can't open it. Only zippig and unzipping does work with me. I did not yet replace my log by the updated logfile you sent in RAR. Step by step pse? I tried again to filter my log to see 1443 QSO's selected. Then tried to modify as you suggested. Nope. I did send you a screenshot of my problem, so you see whats'going wrong. Is the syntaxe of my settings ok ? Dave i received the WAB progress report, and saved it into my Progress folder. Thanks for that.+ Nothing was wrong with your log, other than you recorded WAB squares in user-defined item #6 instead of the REGION item + I followed the step-by-step instructions I send you in /g/DXLab/message/227329 + and they worked as expected. I sent you a zip archive containing your updated log. + When I review your report in? /g/DXLab/message/227353 + I now see that you did not perform step 5b correctly: you set the "Modify QSOs" window's "Item New Value" to APP_DXKeeper_User_Defined 6 + instead of <APP_DXKeeper_User_Defined_6> + You can either use the updated log file that I sent you, or you can perform the instructions correctly on your log. ? ? ?73, ? ? ? ? ? 开云体育Dave i'm glad you noticed the error in 5b in the screenshot that
i prepared to send. In that screenshot destinated to sent to You, i made a typo.
Forgot writing the underscore. Indeed, in step 5b i tried several times to modify the < App_DXKeeper_REGION > to < App_DXKeeper_User_Defined_6 > Same result of coarse. In DXK/Config/Logpage display there is a
column < APP_DXKeeper_REGION > that i captured (named) SCORE
WAB. That column stays empty. Do i expect to see in that column
something impossible? Always the response: < APP_DXKeeper_User_Defined_6 > is too
large for < APP_DXKeeper_REGION > whose width is 8. There must be something else i'm missing. Till now when modifying
i expected to see a copy of the info in column <from UDI_6 >,captured "WAB", into the column captured
<Score WAB >. (App_DXKeeper_REGION) The column "WAB" in my log, contains all WAB square's in 1314
QSO's. Written manually, given by the operators. Sorry for persisting Dave. Glad, by communicating here, i hope to improve my English . I,m Dutch speaking. Waitng for Your reply, 73,Eddy ON5JK Op 26/01/2025 om 18:21 schreef Dave AA6YQ:

开云体育Dave sorry for my insisting please. It is still impossible to create my WAB progress. (worked all britain) You wrote the WAB square should be in the "Region" column, and
not in mij UDI_6 column, captured "WAB"as? i did. Filtering the log with? LEN(App_DXKeeper_User_Defined_6)>0 results today in 1427 QSO's with UKBOTA activations. UDI_6 column contains the 4 character WAB-squares of the activators. Trying to modify < App_DXKeeper_Region> into <App_DXKeeper_User_Defined_6 > has no result. Pop-up message says: < App_DXKeeper_User_Defined_6 is too large for <App_DXKeeper_Region > It is also impossible to write manualy the 4 character square into the column "Region". Hoovering to the Region Column next to a logged UK-QSO, says < Callsign is in England, witch has no Regions> Am i missing something fundamental? Or is something not working as planned? As always, begging for more help. Eddy ON5JK Op 27/01/2025 om 18:31 schreef Dave

+ You failed to follow the instructions. You tried to copy App_DXKeeper_User_Defined_6 into each Region field instead of the contents of App_DXKeeper_User_Defined_6. + That's not correct. + Eddy, I sent you step-by-step instructions for copying the data in each QSOs user-defined-item-6 to its Region item, but you failed to correctly implement these steps. + I then asked you to send me your log, which you did. I followed the exact same instructions I had previously sent you, which correctly performed the desired copy operation, and sent you the resulting log. At that point, you could have begun logging WAB squares in the Region items of new QSOs. + Why you haven't done this, I don't know. There is nothing more I can do to help you that I haven't already done. ?de AA6YQ |
开云体育Dave i'm reall disappointed now. Maybe i better quit looking for my WAB progress. The WAB progress you've sent i have seen. But what after that date? In your mail you said:
<< 5a. set the "Item Name" selector to
APP_DXKEEPER_REGION Which i did, replacing" User_Defined_X" by "User_Defined_6 " without success. Nothing apears in the REGION column. I supposed the content of UDI_6 of each QSO would be copied into the REGION column. But it is not. Now you speak of "the contents" of App_DXKeeper_User_Defined_6 .? How to do that using the instructions you wrote above? And once the QSO has been logged, impossible to
write in the REGION Column. And if there is something i did not, that's because i dont know how to do it. (Not an IT'er) That's why i mostly ask for a step-by-step
instruction. Thanks anyway. Eddy ON5JK Op 17/02/2025 om 11:08 schreef Dave

+ I sent you step-by-step instructions, but failed to follow them correctly. + I pointed out your mistake, and explained it to you: twice. + You sent me your log, and I sent it back the same day with all of the required changes made. + Now you say "its impossible to write in the Region column". That would only be the case if you have? DXKeeper configured to require you to click the Edit button before modifying a logged QSO. + Either find someone local who can help you, or switch to a logging application that is easier for you to understand and manage. ? ? ? ? ?73, ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Dave, AA6YQ |
