¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI dont understand why you would even think about extending support for potaThe pota folks contacts are all tracked on the pota data system activators have to submit logs, those chasing them dont have to do anything... 73 Bob, KA9JAC PS way to dang many of them upload garbage to lotw... I have to agree with Bob. The thing that people might want to track for POTA is the park from which they operated?from. You can do that currently with "my QTH's". If people did it correctly, their uploads to LotW would show the correct location. I use "my QTH's" to track my SOTA activations. The other thing you might want as a chaser of POTA or SOTA is a beam heading of the park or summit. I currently do this for chasing SOTA by opening the ?(you have to be?logged?in to get the correct heading) and then click on the summit to get the heading. I then enter the heading manually?into DXView. I don't know how to find?the heading for a park. Is there a way to find a Maidenhead grid or beam heading for a park easily? The POTA app does not provide that info. The current way SpotCollector displays SOTA info is great, you click on the spot and the summit reference?is entered into the DXK capture window and logged. I think DXLabs is the easiest?way to chase SOTA. Thanks 73On Sun, May 18, 2025 at 3:42?PM KA9JAC via <ka9jac=[email protected]> wrote:

I dont understand why you would even think about extending support for pota+ There are awards for working stations in parks: + DXLab could identify active stations in unworked parks. + Similarly, there are awards for working SOTA activations. ? ? ? 73, ? ? ? ? ? ?Dave, AA6YQ |

Dave Yes, I use it to see POTA stations also. However, if I double click on a POTA/SOTA spot the beam heading is for the operators home QTH. It would be great to have a way to show the correct beam heading to the park or summit in DXView. My question is, what are you proposing for DXLabs as far as POTA/SOTA? My question is, what are you proposing for DXLabs as far as POTA/SOTA? + I haven't proposed anything; I am assessing interest levels. 73, Dave, AA6YQ |
Unworked parks is not the only thing sought after. There are also awards for working parks and activators multiple times. Each award has multiple tiers. That's not even considering the various activator awards.

I am fairly sure there is a file for SOTA summits. I don't know about POTA.? I have heard that portable operations are the fastest growing part of ham radio. Thanks 73 Kent N6WT On Sun, May 18, 2025, 18:48 Dave AA6YQ via <aa6yq=[email protected]> wrote: + AA6YQ comments below |
Dave? Here is the file for all the SOTA Summits. Thanks 73On Sun, May 18, 2025 at 7:36?PM Dave AA6YQ via <aa6yq=[email protected]> wrote:

POTA and SOTA seem to be polarizing to some parts of the ham community. Live and let live. If Dave is gracious enough to put fields in Spotcollector to support these public-facing parts of the hobby, good on him. I will strain my few remaining brain cells to make use of the new tools. (Mainly PoTA. I'm too out of shape for summits, even in Va.)

SpotCollector inspects the notes fields of incoming spots, recognizes POTA, SOTA, and WWFF tabs, and inserts them into Spot Database Entries. ?
