new article: Pursuing DX Marathon Awards with DXLab
Excellent article, Dave! I've been fortunate enough to win Formula and Limited multiple times, and I have been unaware of most of these tools, relying on brute force, manual labor and pure luck. These available tools within the DXLab Suite can definitely up anyone's Marathon game. Well done, good stuff!

Dave, we all recognize the brilliance of your software.? However, after two years working with it, the DX Marathon function has never been correct.? The simple test today was seeing a VE3 on 20m CW highlighted by SpotCollector as "marathon country unworked" when DXKeeper shows multiple VE's not only worked but confirmed for every mode for 2025.
?
The DX Marathon progress reports are never accurate.? Set DXKeeper for "since 1/1/2025" do a DXCC Progress report then do DX Marathon progress report and it shows much fewer countries worked.? Yes, DX Marathon settings are unlimited, mixed, 2025.? Therefore, I never use the DX Marathon function and just use the DXCC progress and DX Marathon tools to generate a view of my progress.? For 2024 this difference was > 10% as confirmed by the 2024 DX Marathon official results.
?
Otherwise, DXLab is the best general logging SW I have used in 20 years.

开云体育Art Do you have ""Include no prop" ticked in the DXkeeper - Config
Awards tab for Marathon Bands & Modes? If not tick it and then
"Recompute" and your award tracking should be fine. I have never
had any issues with Marathon real time awards tracking. 73 Greg VK3VT

I have no idea why "no prop" should be checked since there is noInternet and repeater assisted QSOs are not permitted. Prop Modes INTERNET, IRL, ECH, RPT and SAT would specifically be excluded for Marathon. If Prop Mode is blank, DXK can not be sure the QSO was not made with one of those modes. Another way to avoid the need to check "No Prop" is to set a default Prop Mode. Config -> Defaults -> Default Propagation by band ... I set HF to F2 and VHF to ES. For Marathon that should be done before the year starts. 73, ... Joe, W4TV On 2025-04-08 11:04 AM, Art - VE3UTT / W1AJT wrote: Hi Greg, |

Dave, we all recognize the brilliance of your software. However, after two years working with it, the DX Marathon function has never been correct. + Why have you not reported this issue here? The simple test today was seeing a VE3 on 20m CW highlighted by SpotCollector as "marathon country unworked" when DXKeeper shows multiple VE's not only worked but confirmed for every mode for 2025. Thanks for the quick reply. That actually fixed the problem. I have no idea why "no prop" should be checked since there is no award dependency on propagation mode. + That's not correct: "Contacts through repeaters or satellites are not allowed nor are contacts with maritime or aeronautical mobile stations. All contacts must be made entirely over amateur radio frequencies – i.e., Echolink-type, DMR, All-Star, etc. contacts do not count." - from "Frequencies and Disallowed Entries" in 73, Dave, AA6YQ |
