AT&T ending email to text on June18

For me this will mean no more SpotCollector emails to my iPhone via SMS alerting me to a potentially needed and workable spot.
?
OTOH I still get notifications from HamAlert to the HamAlert app on my phone.

+ According to the Perplexity response appended below, you can configure your iPhone's email client to alert you when an email message from SpotCollector is received. Please give this a try, and post your results here.

Yes, an iPhone email client can be configured to alert the user when a message from a specific email address is received. Here are the methods:

Using Apple's Mail App

1. VIP Feature: Add the sender's email address to your VIP list in the Mail app. Go to the Mail app, tap "VIP," then "Add VIP," and select or enter the desired contact. Enable VIP alerts in *Settings > Notifications > Mail > Customize Notifications* and turn on notifications for VIPs only[4][8].

2. Custom Sounds: You can customize notification sounds for VIP emails in *Settings > Notifications > Mail > Customize Notifications*[7].

Gmail App

1. Labels and Filters: On Gmail's web interface, create a label and filter for the specific sender. Apply the label to emails from that sender. On your iPhone, enable notifications for that label by going to *Settings > Manage Labels* in the Gmail app[5].

2. Priority Notifications: Mark emails as "important" or use the "star" feature to prioritize notifications for specific senders[2][5].

Using Third-Party Apps

1. Outlook App: Add the sender as a "favorite" in Outlook to receive notifications exclusively for emails from that sender[3].

2. eNotify: This app allows advanced customization, such as continuous alerts until the email is addressed[9].

These methods ensure you receive timely alerts without being overwhelmed by notifications from other emails.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll give them a try. AT&T was getting really bad in delivering the mailed texts sometimes nearly 12hrs late.

+ Are they delivering SMS messages late, or email messages late?

+ This is the URL that Perplexity cited as the basis for its claim that you could specify favorites in Outlook on an iPhone:

Hi Jim,
I had similar unreliable email to sms service from Tmobile, and then Gmail. I found an Android app called Pushover. It costed like, $2.99 for lifetime use. I got an address to send my emails, and it sends me an SMS. It is nearly instantaneous and works very well. Don't know if there's an iPhone version.

Looks like the one-time license fee is now $4.99 per
platform (Android, iPhone/iPad, Desktop) for up to 10
devices. They have a 30 day trial.

I use the method of sending email to my phone.number@.... (txt.att.net) The delay time to receive these is highly variable and up to 24hrs late.

Not sure if that answers your question.

Email to my Gmail address arrives via ATT if I'm not on WIFI and seems to be delivered promptly. And delivery by WIFI is prompt as well.

Thanks
