Transfer my Win7 Laptop DXLab to new Win10 Desktop help needed.

Hi,
All working great on the Win7 laptop but want to free it up to use other places. Have new Dell win10 desktop and started to install.? Reading the instructions got a fresh install on the desktop ok to the root default directory of C:\. The Win7 is in a directory C:\Ham Log\ ---- all ok but when saved setting to Workspace on the Win7 then couldn't get the Win 10 to see it.??

Think need to list new Win10 folder as C:\Ham Log\???? like the laptop. Tried to do this in the new computer but can't seem to get it to install correctly.? Did an uninstall thru control panel and not all got uninstalled so

manually uninstalled what I thought was left. Then did reinstall with new C:\Ham Log\ and Launcher ok but all others still wanted to go to the root default.

Bottom line is there a simpler way to move the log to the new Win10?

Can I run on both computers?

Maybe stay with the Win7 Laptop?

Sorry so basic but getting frustrated.

Tnx in advance.

I don't understand. Please elaborate.

Where is DXLab installed on your Windows 7 PC?
The simplest thing to do is have the folder structure on your new PC be identical to that of your current PC, and then follow the step-by-step instructions here:

Hi,

The log on the laptop is in C:\Ham Log\ ****

The new install from the web is on the desktop in C:\ ****
Tried to get the new Desktop install to C:\Ham Log\ ****? but not all the exe files went to this when I installed the Launcher. Most went to
the default C:\ ****

How do I get ALL of the DXLab files and info off of the desktop so I can do a fresh install? The windows uninstaller says it can't remove all
components of the Launcher.
Think there are some files or register stuff still on the desktop.? If this doesn't matter let me know.? Tnx.

Standby as I read and try to see where I messed up.
Thanks and QRX

The log on the laptop is in C:\Ham Log\ ****

In what folder is DXKeeper installed?
The new install from the web is on the desktop in C:\ ****

To what does "the new install" refer?
The "pathname" C:\ **** is not meaningful.
Tried to get the new Desktop install to C:\Ham Log\ **** but not all the exe files went to this when I installed the Launcher. Most went to the default C:\ ****

To what does "the new Desktop install" refer?
By default, the Launcher installs DXLab applications in
c:\DXLab

As you direct the Launcher to install a DXLab application, it shows you the default folder into which the application will be installed, and offers you the opportunity to specify a different folder.
How do I get ALL of the DXLab files and info off of the desktop so I can do a fresh install?

By directing Wiindows to uninstall each application via the Window's Control Panel's "uninstall program" applet
The windows uninstaller says it can't remove all components of the Launcher.
Think there are some files or register stuff still on the desktop. If this doesn't matter let me know.

It's not possible to answer your question given the information you've provided so far.

Phil, there are step-by-step instructions for moving DXKeeper from one PC to another:

Many users have employed these instructions successfully. I suggest that you use them as well.

Hi,

DXKeeper on laptop Win7 is in:?? C:\Ham Log\DXLab\Keeper\DXKeeper.exe

Am currently going thru steps in referenced instructions and made it to step 3h.
In this step have gotten to the ii. Says to click "Update" button but there is NO "Update" button.
Did not proceed with this step.

Going to Step 4 on new destination desktop Win10 and downloading.
Starting Launcher Setup and changed directory from C:\DXLab\Launcher\ to C:\Ham Log\DXLab\Launcher\
Installed ok and clicked Config in Launcher window and shows Launcher
Program Path as C:\Ham Log\DXLab\Launcher\DXLabLauncher.exe.

The other paths show (as example)? C:\Ham Log\DXKeeper.exe
When I try to install DXKeeper using the "dxk" button in Launcher I get this:
"unable to install DXKeeper in specified folder because DXView is already in stalled in that folder"

I do have screenshots of Config window and "unable to install" window.
Seems like remnants of previous installations that did not get cleaned out somehow.?
New computer and no other programs installed except Firefox.

Should I just do a default install on the Desktop and manually add/mod as needed if possible.
I am an older EE and guess can't keep up.....?? Hi..
Sure glad you can put up with me so far.
73? Phil

Hi,

DXKeeper on laptop Win7 is in: C:\Ham Log\DXLab\Keeper\DXKeeper.exe

Am currently going thru steps in referenced instructions and made it to step 3h.
In this step have gotten to the ii. Says to click "Update" button but there is NO "Update" button.

That button was renamed "Save Settings to Workspace" in last week's Launcher release. Step 3h has been updated accordingly.
Did not proceed with this step.

Going to Step 4 on new destination desktop Win10 and downloading.
Starting Launcher Setup and changed directory from C:\DXLab\Launcher\ to C:\Ham Log\DXLab\Launcher\ Installed ok and clicked Config in Launcher window and shows Launcher Program Path as C:\Ham Log\DXLab\Launcher\DXLabLauncher.exe.

Uninstalling an application does not remove its settings from the Windows Registry.
Which applications have you installed on the new computer?
On the new computer, on the "DXLab apps" tab of the Launcher's Configuration window, what "program path" is specified for each DXLab application?
