SERIOUS problem with SC and spot sources

Just before CQWWCW I configured four spot sources in SC, dx-cluster, K1TTT, K1EU and KB1H. They were set for auto and hide. DX-cluster was configured to handle my outgoing spots. dx-cluster and KB1H worked fine. K1TTT allowed my login and the sh/dx command to work but for some reason the sh/u failed on that site. K1EU kept disconnecting me and telling me that "illegal" characters were being transmitted with my call sign and dumping me off.

Yesterday, I spoke with Mike Russo, K1EU who complained that I was clogging his cluster with disconnects caused by "invalid characters" being transmitted when my call sign was sent by SC for login. He said he had 35 pages of disconnects. He finally blocked my access to his node. He explained to me that it became almost a denial of service attack to his site because other user were having difficulty using his site until he blocked me.

As an experiment, K1EU reauthorized me and I went to the YCCC web site listing of all clusters and accessed K1EU's site through the link on that page. No problem. However, when I brought up SC, the same errors and disconnects happened. I have since removed his site from SC but that does not answer the question. Since I can get in no problem with telnet, it would appear that SC is transmitting something unseen in addition to my call sign which is causing havoc at K1EU.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Anybody have a solution?

Marty, N1HT

I'll bet you have two instances of SpotCollector running, maybe from two different machines on your network, or perhaps because a previous instance of SpotCollector did not shut down completely. If you want to run two instance from different machines on your network make sure you use different log on names on each machine, like N1HT and N1HT-1. If it's a stuck process, shut down DXLab, reboot your machine and try again. When it's fixed you'll probably have to notify K1EU so that he can reinstate you.

My instance of SpotCollector just connected to K1EU without any reports of
errors or disconnects.

On the "Spot Sources" tab of SpotCollector's Config window,

1. in the entry for K1EU in the "Telnet DXClusters" panel, do the Password
or Cmd boxes specify anything? (Both of these boxes should be empty).

2. in the "Initial Cluster command" panel near the bottom, is the Enable box
checked? If so, what is specified in this panel's Command box?.

I wasn't running two instances of the program. I was running one instance. When I cleared the password and command windows, I was able to log in fine. The initial command box was set to "N1HT".

However, when I left-click on the green button for each of the sites, only the window for KB1H opens up. I can click on the others until the cows come home and nothing happens. What's up with that?
