Re: Using Dxlab to submit more DXCC entities to total

HI Joe.....I tried your SQL line on my log and somehow it is showing only 4 qsos (out of 14k qsos) with LOTW_QSL_RCVD = 'V'
How does this happen? I thought I had never downloaded my credits as the download screen
showed a last date downloaded of "never"??? What happens if I tried to download all my 200 dxcc credits again??
Will it screw up these 4 Qs somehow?? Is a download of credits from ARRL the only way that setting changes to a 'V' normally?
Any answers appreciated as it appears I never did download the credits even after applying for the awards.
Thanks
Ted VE3SS

Hi Dave....I used the link you provided and checked the process for
verifying the original submission I made
4 years ago. I had done this entirely through LOTW submissions and I
followed the instructions on page 5 of your doc Where I was in the
Check progress tab and submission tab, checked the LOTW contribution
box, hit the verify submission button And nothing happened that I saw.

+ Clicking the "Verify Submission" button is only effective if you had
+ assembled a Submission - a set of QSOs whose "QSL Rcvd" or
"LoTW QSL Rcvd" items were set to 'S'. If there no QSOs in your log
whose "LoTW QSL Rcvd" items are set to 'V', then there weren't any
QSOs whose "LoTW QSL Rcvd" items were set to 'S' when you click the "Verify Submission"
button.

When I check the DXCC progress report, first section verified Honor
roll countries shows 5 mixed.
Next section Confirmed DXCC countries shows 265 mixed (whats the
difference
here?)

+ "Honor Roll Countries" do not include now-deleted DXCC entities,
+ whereas
"DXCC Countries" do include them.

How do I find out what I got credit for 4 years ago from ARRL??

+ By directing DXKeeper to download your DXCC award credits from the
+ ARRL
and link them to your logged QSOs, as explained here:

So, if you do not have an image backup from before the update, then what? Even if you do you are going to have to update any app changes you made SICE THEN THAT YOU WAT.
+ It should be standard practice to direct Windows to create a system restore point prior to installing an update. You can also direct Windows to uninstall an update - which is probably implemented by reverting to the system restore point that Windows Update created before installing the update.

Is it safe yet??

I have paused the updates for about 8 weeks now.

+ Not according to Perplexity, with whom I consult when considering a Windows 11 update. The only updates I've been applying are those for Windows Defender.

Perplexity's report on Windows 11 version 24H2 is appended below.

"Are you feelin' lucky?"

73,

Dave, AA6YQ

There have been several adverse reports regarding the reliability of Windows 11 version 24H2 (H2 2024 update), highlighting various issues that users and Microsoft have acknowledged. Below is a summary of the key reliability concerns:

### Major Issues Reported

1. **Blue Screens of Death (BSOD):**

- Incompatibility with Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) drivers on 11th Gen Intel Core processors has caused BSODs.
- PCs with certain Western Digital SSDs and Z890 motherboards (e.g., MSI, Asus) also encounter BSODs[1][3].

2. **Internet Connectivity Problems:**

- Users report losing network connectivity due to invalid IP addresses, which cannot be resolved by updating drivers or resetting network settings. Using static IPs has worked as a workaround in some cases[1][3].

3. **Audio and Bluetooth Issues:**

- Conflicts with audio devices and Bluetooth connections have been common, especially after the January 14 Patch Tuesday update. Devices with Dirac Audio technology are particularly affected[1][3].

4. **Printer Compatibility:**

- ARM-based Copilot+ PCs face issues with printers from manufacturers like HP, Canon, and Brother, rendering them unusable after the update[1].

5. **Gaming and App Conflicts:**

- Some modern games fail to work due to conflicts with Easy Anti-Cheat and AutoHDR features[1][5].
- Citrix components and specific camera applications also face compatibility problems[1][3].

6. **Update Installation Failures:**

- Certain ASUS devices fail to install the update, leading to blue screens during the process. Additionally, using media created with October or November 2024 updates can prevent future security updates from being installed[5].

### Microsoft's Response
Microsoft has released multiple patches to address these issues:
- Updates in late 2024 and early 2025 have resolved some bugs but introduced new ones.
- A compatibility hold has been placed on affected devices to prevent further issues during installation[1][3][5].

### User Feedback
While some users find Windows 11 stable overall, others report sluggish UI performance and unreliable taskbars in version 24H2, even on capable hardware[8]. Many recommend waiting for further fixes before adopting this update widely[2][6].

In conclusion, while Microsoft is actively addressing these problems, Windows 11 version 24H2 has faced significant reliability challenges that may impact its usability for certain users and configurations.

So I built a simple mechanism that made it easy to add corrections as they were reported. It's been a long while since logging a QSO with a U.S. station has resulted in DXKeeper reporting an invalid county name that it couldn't correct.

QRZ.com and the US Postal Service list a particular Louisiana Parish exactly as Saint Tammany.? In contrast, countyhunter.com, HamCall.net, and DXKeeper Capture use the spelling of "St. Tammany".? That works out well for my county chasing. ?Numerous county spelling differences occur nationally.? QRZ.com XML is used by me.My question: what magic does DXKeeper do to actually make this spelling adjustment from QRZ.COM to DXKeeper Capture when logging a contact?? Or something else is in the mix.? Any comments will be appreciated
?
+ DXKeeper applies several spelling corrections to all U.S. county names in order to comply with the county names specified with countyhunter.com, the web site associated with the sponsor of the USA-CA "Worked All U.S. Counties" awards:?

+ A candidate county name is converted to upper case, an then check against these rules:

1. remove the word County from the end of the name

2. ST => St.

3. SAINT => St.

4. MC => Mc.

+ DXKeeper also applies state-specific spelling corrections. It applies these 7 for counties in Louisiana:

5. LA,EAST BATON, LA,EAST BATON ROUGE => LA,E. Baton Rouge"
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ??
6. LA,EAST CARROLL => LA,E. Carroll"
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ??
7. LA,EAST FELICIANA =>LA,E. Feliciana
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ??
8. LA,ST. JOHN THE BTS => LA,St. John the Baptist
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ??
9. LA,WEST BATON, LA,WEST BATON ROUGE =>LA,W. Baton Rouge
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ??
10. LA,WEST CARROLL =>LA,W. Carroll
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ??
11. LA,WEST FELICIANA? =>LA,W. Feliciana

+Rule 3 above is what put Saint Tammany into proper form.

Re: Edit drop down box?

Is it possible for a user to edit the drop down box list of the active satellites. I realize you can type a non listed name in the box. The new SO-124 satellite has been added to the ARRL list for LOTW credit. Will a new version of DXKeeper add it to the list in the "Propagation/Satellite/Name" dropdown?

+ Yes, as Bob and Joe have pointed out, you can edit the file from which DXKeeper loads satellite names into its Satellite selectors, and then restart DXKeeper.

+ The next version of DXKeeper includes SO-124.txt in its DefaultSatellites.txt file, so it won't disappear when you upgrade.

+ The time between releases is a bit longer than usual as I'm extending DXKeeper and SpotCollector to provide realtime award tracking for the new IOTA HF and VHF award categories.

If you are not seeing updates, either the operator of your
