I do want reliable PSK QSO reports. I do not want PSK reports from you, since you do not report QSO but what you can hear. Seeing someone does not mean it is workable.. please note the difference. For seeing who can be heard PSK reporter does magnificent jobs.

DX cluster is great when used to report QSO - is there a chance you can limit yourself to post whom you worked ?

Until then, I am looking for a way to filter entries specifically from you.

Dave,

Can I ask for a capability to filter out of SC spots posts by a particular call sign ? His activity was debated here already, so I will try not to mention his call sign.. but a chance to drop spots from a particular call would significantly help.

Is there a way to do it with current features in SC ?

There is indeed a way to do this already, but you just about have to "go around your elbow to scratch your nose"! HI!

If you set up the VE7CC program to "feed" Spot Collector, with no other data sources for Spot Collector, the VE7CC program can send a command to the cluster to ignore spots from particular calls. That will prevent them from getting to Spot Collector. I'm working with it now, along with SpotSpy and starting to have good results.

Re: DXLabs files on more than one PC

Phil Cooper

Hi all,

Not sure whether this may be of use (I have yet to check it out fully!!!),
but it would appear to do all we need!

It is called DropBox, and allows you to share files on your network, and
also make them available via the web.
Go to to download the utility and register (it's
FREE for up to 2GB) and then install it on each PC you want to make
available.

I have not yet tried it, as I haven't had toime to sit down and study all
the help, but at first glance, it looks as though it could help, and I
particularly like the idea of having the files available via the web, as
this could be a virtual backup!

Take a look!

Re: Moving DXLabs

Hi Phil,

You can install the program anywhere you want, regardless of operating
system. I was pointing out the Vista and Win7 pages as the way to do it.
Just point the installer to c:\dxlab instead of the suggested default and
you don't get any of the baggage of installing it in c:\program files

Unfortunately DXK didn't want to reprint what it thought was already done.
I ended up emptying the queue and repopulating it and then was able to get
the last ones out.

Until you click the "Update Log" button, you should be able to print QSL
cards, QSL labels, envelopes, or address labels from enabled entries in the
QSL Queue just as Art suggested below. Had you already clicked "Update Log"?

First time:
I just went to DXK> New and entered OD5ET.
DXK locked up, had to resort to Launcher, to shut down DXK
Got the system back up.
This time I entered OD5ET into WinWarbler, and struck the Log button.

It was transfered to DXK, corrected determined it was OD Lebanon, code 354.

But.....
It's still got the hourglass, and just now the 'Not Responding' message in the 'Title Bar'.
No wayout but close DXK.

Guess I'm lucky to have Lebanon on most bands??? LOL

When I restarted DXK, OD5ET was still in the 'call' field, but it was not saved. Striking the 'Delete' button cleared it and allowed DXK to resume.
(unfortunately I just thought I should have enabled log debugging, duh).

So I repeated and have sent Dave the errorlog.txt.

So I went to Pathfinder and tried to get it that way via QRZ.
I think I see the problem Dave.

It's his name
OD5ET
JOE TAWIL (Arabic? letters)
DICK EL MEHDI LEBANON

Can it be the Non English printing of his name???

If you have Spot Spy installed and running.

1. Click on the Config button

2. Click on the tab labeled Alarms

3. Check the box Send E-mail (Note in the US/Canada, you probably will
never use the SMS config as is requires an SMS provider gateway)

4. In the email config, enter your "email address" of your cell phone
to send SMS messages

a. See in order to
determine your email address of your cell phone in order to send SMS
messages to it.

b. For instance if your provider is Verizon, use 1234567890@...
<mailto:1234567890%40vtext.com>
(replace the numbers with your 10 digit cell number)

5. Enter the email server info like you did for your PC email client
(outlook, etc)

6. You can set the alert triggers under the Alarms tab as well, in
addition to using the Needed Callsigns tab to enter specific calls, modes
and bands.

There are a bunch of other features, but that should get you started.

Well not with DXLab but in addition to it. You start watching a movie
but leave SpotCollector running in the background. When an interesting
spot comes in, you pause the movie, work the DX then go back to your
movie :-)
That's what I do. Joe DX tells me when I need to go down the hall to
N5UWY to work something. :-)

Yes, priorities. One of my priorities is to limit my TeeVee watching
to stuff I like, when *I* want to watch it. I sort of knew that in
pre-DVR days, but tape management was always a hassle with the VCR.
Now my problem is that I tend to let content accumulate on the DVR
without watching it.

It's changed my viewing habits so much that if a new show catches my
interest, I have to ask if I am ready to commit to watching the new
content given what else I watch. More often than not, I say "nah".
Just said "yes" to Dr Who, though that is delivered by DVD/USPS; I
don't have the right setup to stream it directly from Netflix (their
postal distribution system works great though).

"Net net", as they say, is that we watch a lot less TeeVee. Not what
the conduit and content providers had in mind, I'm sure. :-)

But back to DXLabs. Storage is sort of a big-picture kind of topic,
but it *is* part of running DXLabs, I assure you. Understanding what
is available and potentially, what to avoid, is important.

Peter
