Tnx Dave,

understood. Great to know the answer.

I just have to make a mental note tht this may happen and/or not discard
DXLabLauncher152Archive.exe.

Probably not worth suggesting a sw option to install Launcher without the
offending files (?).

There's no way to know beforehand whether the Microsoft Installer failure
will occur. The failure rate is low - in the range of 1 or 2 per thousand
installs, so I'll continue to handle the exceptions as they arise. At some
point, I will investigate switching to another installer, e.g.
InstallShield.

Re: Cannot Sync LOTW

Thanks Dave,

Yes it was the password problem and once I put the right password in that was corrected. I regret taking your time with a simple problem however the error never said it was an incorrect P/W.

Perhaps there exists a FAQ for using DXLab and the common questions - however, I cannot find it easily on the DXLAB web pages nor in this Yahoo group. The search function of Yahoo does leave lots to be desired but if a researchable FAQ were available, I am sure it would give you more time to develop than to answer the same questions over and over.

Reqarding the message displayed as C:\DXLAB\DXKEEPER\DATABASES\LOTW_QSOS_ADI.HTM.

I would have suspected it came from ARRL/LOTW had the URL in my browser gave their URL but the URL as from my C drive - that is what confused me. I note that the file appears in the Databases directory as both an HTM & a TXT file.

I presume that these both can be deleted.

Thanks for your assistance, now if I can just get DXK to accept the import of the N1MM created ADIF logs I would be all set.

Subject: [dxlab] Cannot Sync LOTW

I keep getting message when trying to sync LOTW in DXK saying "LOTW
responded, but not with QSL data: check the page now displayed by your web
browser for an error message"

This usually means that your username or password is not correctly
specified on the "QSL Config" window's LotW tab.

I check the page that is displayed which is:
C:\DXLAB\DXKEEPER\DATABASES\LOTW_QOS_ADI.MTH - however there is no error
displayed.

I suspect you mean
C:\DXLAB\DXKEEPER\DATABASES\LOTW_QSOS_ADI.HTM

This appears to be a canned message from the text file found in that folder.

I don't know what you mean by "canned message from the text file found in
that folder"; it should be the web page with which LotW responded when
DXKeeper tried to log in on your behalf.

All of this used to work until DXLAB was undated and re-installed in the new
DXLAB folder.

The old logged was backed up prior to the reinstall and then brought back in
after the install. The log is there okay but cannot resync with LOTW.

What led you to uninstall and reinstall DXLab? Did you move to a
different PC?

Re: DXKeeper Country Issue

Same thing here Jerry.

I was able to work around the problem by leaving the entire DXCC field blank and just entering the country name - Kazakhstan in the case of the UP0L.

Have done the same thing with some others which exhibited the same sort of problem.

However, no ideal what will happen when I try to upload these to LotW or such.

Hi folks,
snipped...

Explorer; normally this is not a problem, but on a few systems the "endless
loop" defect in the Microsoft installer appears. For those users who
encounter this problem, I have a version of the DXLabLauncher 1.6.8 package

Your approach of starting with DXLabLauncher152Archive.exe and then

Re: SERIOUS problem with SC and spot sources

My instance of SpotCollector just connected to K1EU without any reports of
errors or disconnects.

On the "Spot Sources" tab of SpotCollector's Config window,

1. in the entry for K1EU in the "Telnet DXClusters" panel, do the Password
or Cmd boxes specify anything? (Both of these boxes should be empty).

2. in the "Initial Cluster command" panel near the bottom, is the Enable box
checked? If so, what is specified in this panel's Command box?.

Subject: [dxlab] SERIOUS problem with SC and spot sources

Just before CQWWCW I configured four spot sources in SC, dx-cluster, K1TTT,
K1EU and KB1H. They were set for auto and hide. DX-cluster was configured to
handle my outgoing spots. dx-cluster and KB1H worked fine. K1TTT allowed my
login and the sh/dx command to work but for some reason the sh/u failed on
that site. K1EU kept disconnecting me and telling me that "illegal"
characters were being transmitted with my call sign and dumping me off.

Yesterday, I spoke with Mike Russo, K1EU who complained that I was clogging
his cluster with disconnects caused by "invalid characters" being
transmitted when my call sign was sent by SC for login. He said he had 35
pages of disconnects. He finally blocked my access to his node. He explained
to me that it became almost a denial of service attack to his site because
other user were having difficulty using his site until he blocked me.

As an experiment, K1EU reauthorized me and I went to the YCCC web site
listing of all clusters and accessed K1EU's site through the link on that
page. No problem. However, when I brought up SC, the same errors and
disconnects happened. I have since removed his site from SC but that does
not answer the question. Since I can get in no problem with telnet, it would
appear that SC is transmitting something unseen in addition to my call sign
which is causing havoc at K1EU.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Anybody have a solution?

It is probably something I did, since I cleaned off some old unused

I have checked HRD 5 and that still works, so the connection to the

Any suggestions?

I have 18K QSO's in Logic, are there any issues converting these to DXLab?

On the Main window's "Import QSOs" tab, set the "ADIF style options"
panel to Logic before you import. Just above this panel, you might also
check the "Record import errors in error file" box. If DXKeeper runs into
any difficulties while importing your QSOs, it will report them. If you have
any questions about this process, don't hesitate to post them here.

My advice is to contact Microsoft support and ask them how to re-install WSH on your system.

if by "other devices" you mean things I am controlling via commander as
"Device 0, Device 1, or Device 2" then no, I am not using any other
devices with my K3.

If on the other hand, you mean other things connected to my K3 that use
other non conflicting serial ports, the answer is yes, I am using a
RigExpert Plus, and an SCS Pactor 2 modem, both via USB cards, on different
ports (virtual) from their USB drivers).

The K3 is on a "real" serial port.

Hi folks,

I had (once again) to relocate DXLab to a new PC under win xp pro, sp3. Last
time it was a breeze.

This tome I was unable to install Launcher from the "install launcher"
button on www.dxlabsuite/download.htm: When processing urlmon.dll (3 of 3)
install stopped and wanted me to reboot win xp because of unspecified files
being more recent than those on the system. Reboot worked ok, but
afterwards: same story, etc., endless loop.

I discovered that I had downloaded DXLabLauncher168Archive.exe.

When I tried to install DXLabLauncher152Archive.exe (which was still on the
old PC) that worked, afterwards I was able to upgrade to DXLabLauncher168
and all subsqequent installs/upgrades without a hitch.

Remembering that we used to install the lates full release before upgrading,
I wonder: Could it be that said button links to an upgrade, not a full
release?

The problem is that DXLabLauncher168Archive.exe includes the libraries
urlmon.dll and wininet.dll, which are used by the Launcher for downloading
information via the internet. Version 1.5.2 of the Launcher used a different
(less reliable, I discovered) means of downloading. Urlmon.dll and
wininet.dll are often already installed, as they are used by Internet

Hi Dave,

I just completed a batch of QSL cards. I printed them yesterday and updated
the log today. The QSL sent date was posted as yesterday. In this case one
day difference doesn't make a difference. But what if I had a batch that I
was working on over a period of time. (I've seen posts on this list where
users do just that.) Then the date difference would be significant.
Shouldn't the date sent be the date the log is updated. If you agree could a
change where "the date the log is updated be the date sent" be added to the
enhancement list?

The "QSL Sent Date" is set based on the date the QSL or label is printed.
Normally, one reviews the printed cards or labels and, if there are no
problems, invokes the "Update Log" function to clear the QSL Queue; the only
reason this isn't done automatically after printing is to provide the
opportunity to reprint selected cards or labels if there were paper feed
issues or if you ran out of ink mid-batch. Thus there should not be long
delays between printing and log updating. There might be a long delays
between printing, envelope stuffing, and mailing; one could update the
affected QSOs' QSL_SENT_DATE items en masse if desired.

Re: SERIOUS problem with SC and spot sources

I'll bet you have two instances of SpotCollector running, maybe from two different machines on your network, or perhaps because a previous instance of SpotCollector did not shut down completely. If you want to run two instance from different machines on your network make sure you use different log on names on each machine, like N1HT and N1HT-1. If it's a stuck process, shut down DXLab, reboot your machine and try again. When it's fixed you'll probably have to notify K1EU so that he can reinstate you.
