Re: Moving DXLabs
Yes that can be done but without Commander controlling the frequency and mode of your transceiver, and Winwarbler keying it I don't know what you would have to log. I suppose you could do things like prepare ARRL submissions and print out QSL labels etc. without operating your rig.

Finally got it going, but now SpotSpy is giving me TONS of "13 Type Mismatch" errors. Guess I'll have to try THAT mailing list for help.

Re: Moving DXLabs
You should be able to access the DXLab files from another computer on your network just by shearing the "DXLab Suite" folder. However, keep in mind that no matter where the programs are located on your shack computer you will not be able to execute the applications successfully on your remote computer. If you want to use DXLab from a remote computer leave the programs right where they are and use Remote Desktop or TightVNC to control your shack computer from anywhere. TightVNC is a free download but I find that Remote Desktop works much better. Unfortunately, in order for your sack computer to host a remote desktop session you will need to install XP Professional on that machine. Microsoft does not include the Remote Desktop server in the home version. That holds true for Vista and Windows 7 as well.

Moving DXLabs
Phil & Anne Irons
Hi Dave...
I want to move the DXLabs folder from within the Program Files folder on my shack computer, so that I can access it from elsewhere on my network. Can you please give me a step by step? A friend suggested copying the entire folder to another location on the network, then uninstalling from Program Files, and re-installing at the root level, then copying the contents of the copied folder, to ensure that all databases, etc are intact. However, I recall that someone had problems with .ini files recently, and I'm sure there are others. My operating system is XP Home, SP3. Everything else is working fine. thanks in advance, Phil/VE1BVD Sydney, NS |
