Re: Moving DXLabs

Yes that can be done but without Commander controlling the frequency and mode of your transceiver, and Winwarbler keying it I don't know what you would have to log. I suppose you could do things like prepare ARRL submissions and print out QSL labels etc. without operating your rig.

Finally got it going, but now SpotSpy is giving me TONS of "13 Type Mismatch" errors. Guess I'll have to try THAT mailing list for help.

If you have Spot Spy installed and running.

1. Click on the Config button

2. Click on the tab labeled Alarms

3. Check the box Send E-mail (Note in the US/Canada, you probably will
never use the SMS config as is requires an SMS provider gateway)

4. In the email config, enter your "email address" of your cell phone
to send SMS messages

a. See in order to
determine your email address of your cell phone in order to send SMS
messages to it.

b. For instance if your provider is Verizon, use 1234567890@...
(replace the numbers with your 10 digit cell number)

5. Enter the email server info like you did for your PC email client
(outlook, etc)

6. You can set the alert triggers under the Alarms tab as well, in
addition to using the Needed Callsigns tab to enter specific calls, modes
and bands.

There are a bunch of other features, but that should get you started.

Spot Spy nicely complements this "multi-tasking" approach as well. Just
carry your cell phone around the house with you and receive SC alerts and
special callsign notifications on your mobile phone.

How do you use it with DXLabs?

Well not with DXLab but in addition to it. You start watching a movie
but leave SpotCollector running in the background. When an interesting
spot comes in, you pause the movie, work the DX then go back to your
movie :-)
That's what I do. Joe DX tells me when I need to go down the hall to
N5UWY to work something. :-)

Yes, priorities. One of my priorities is to limit my TeeVee watching
to stuff I like, when *I* want to watch it. I sort of knew that in
pre-DVR days, but tape management was always a hassle with the VCR.
Now my problem is that I tend to let content accumulate on the DVR
without watching it.

It's changed my viewing habits so much that if a new show catches my
interest, I have to ask if I am ready to commit to watching the new
content given what else I watch. More often than not, I say "nah".
Just said "yes" to Dr Who, though that is delivered by DVD/USPS; I
don't have the right setup to stream it directly from Netflix (their
postal distribution system works great though).

"Net net", as they say, is that we watch a lot less TeeVee. Not what
the conduit and content providers had in mind, I'm sure. :-)

But back to DXLabs. Storage is sort of a big-picture kind of topic,
but it *is* part of running DXLabs, I assure you. Understanding what
is available and potentially, what to avoid, is important.

Re-printing envelopes

While printing envelopes for QSLs the printer hiccupped a few times and DXKeeper thinks it has printed envelopes that haven't actually been printed.

I know DXK keeps track of what it has printed. How do I get DXK to reprint certain envelopes.

Thanks for your comments. The main reason I want to move the DXLabs
folder is that I originally installed it in the Windows Program Files
folder, which, although you can go through the motions of sharing it on
the network, does not allow ANY sharing from another network user. I do
have a program called LogMeIn on the shack computer, which allows
access, but it's cumbersome, and the screen image, particularly on a

DXL on my laptop, and just using the databases--but they are in Program

moving all the databases, and re-directing the DXL sub-programs...?

Do you get the same error when attempting to use the certificate
to sign an upload? If so, contact LotW support at ARRL. There
has been a problem of "false expirations" in some cases.

Re: FLDIGI

When I get to step 5 and enter the original password, I get
the an error message saying the certificate is expired.
Do you get the same error when attempting to use the certificate
to sign an upload? If so, contact LotW support at ARRL. There
has been a problem of "false expirations" in some cases.

the password. When I get to step 5 and enter the original
password, I get the an error message saying the certificate
is expired. I checked the certificate and it is good unitl

Re: FLDIGI

ARRL has had a major problem with expired certificates, looks like the
glitch has not been solved . To fix this issue for me, I changed the date
on my PC and then did a certificate update, all works fine now , even after
switching back tot he correct date.

Re: Another FLDIGI question

Do you have the "PTT" diamond selected in the RIG CAT area within Fldigi ?
