Re: Filtering DXLab
Hi Joe, sorry about my (bad) explanation, let me try it again. ? What I want to do is this: I try to work as many DXCC entities as possible in 2025, no matter in what mode or band. So, I would like to set a filter so I can see (only) the unworked entities. I hope this is a better explanation. ? Thanks, Will K6ND ? |
Re: Marker size on google mymaps?
+ AA6YQ comments below
I, not infrequently, use the dxview capability to generate a .kml file over a filtered period of time in dxkeeper and then view the results in both google earth and google maps. This is a great feature and thank you. When I load the .kml file to google earth, the marker size (large, medium or small) selection in DXView does visually change from large, medium to small on google earth view. However, when I use the exact same .kml file at google mymaps the selection of marker size in dxview seems have no effect on marker size. + DXView is designed to interoperate with Google Earth. I'd not heard of "Google mymaps" before you mentioned it above. Marker size is always, to me, too large, in the default view, and the same size independent of marker selection size in DXview. NOTE: If I then zoom in substantially, eventually the marker sizes are more proportionate to the map scale. But, at the initial, overall view, and the first few zooms, they are seem large and non-responsive to (small, medium, large). A virus free google mymaps link to my 2025 contacts generated with DXview (marker size small) shows the issue. <;usp=sharing> My monitor max resolution is 2560 x 1400 for reference (since it may look different on different monitors). I have a screen snap below. Is there a way for me to shrink the size of the markers on google mymaps? I have read much of the google mymaps documentation and the only way I can see to do is using the scale command during the kml creation BUT I am assuming you are already doing that with size small, medium and large. + As you can see by examining the KML generated by DXView, the SCALE parameter is what DXView utilizes: <Placemark> <name>AA</name> <View> <longitude>-170</longitude> <latitude>-85</latitude> <range>20000</range> <tilt>0</tilt> <heading>0</heading> </View> <Point> <coordinates>-170,-85,25</coordinates> </Point> <Style> <IconStyle> <Icon> </Icon> </IconStyle> <LabelStyle> <color>ff0000ff</color> <scale>4</scale> </LabelStyle> </Style> </Placemark> + If you can determine how to modify the generated KML files to express SCALE in a manner that works with "Google mymaps", I'll consider enhancing DXView to exploit it. 73, Dave, AA6YQ |

Filtering DXLab
I just finished installing DXLab on a new Windows 11 computer.

Last year I had my DXLab filtering my log for the current year, than in spot collector do a "ctrl/need" and that filtered the DXCC spots of what was/is needed. It does not matter what band, all I need is working each entity one time.
I tried to do the same for this year and the filtering is working, but not the "ctrl/need"
What is/are the sugestion user have for this?

Thanks,

Editing DXKeeper Contacts
Hello,
I am interested in changing the value of some fields in DXKeeper logged contacts. There are approximately 300 contacts I would like to correct. Is it possible to select a group of contacts and make the corrections to the group? I have looked in the help file but have not seen that feature. I am under the impression that I will need to select each contact one at a time to make the correction. Thanks for everone's time. 73 AB2UL Tom |
Controlling Windows Update
Given that some Windows updates may be destructive, it is prudent to check to see what other users are saying before authorizing their installation; I use the free Perplexity AI search tool to obtain this information. To prevent Windows from automatically installing an update until you authorize that step, see the "Controlling Windows and Anti-Malware Updates" section in ? ? 73, ? ? ? ? ?Dave, AA6YQ |

Strange behavior in DXLab database storage after January 14 on Windows10
After reading online issues with the January 14, 2025 update, I am wondering if the following problem is related.
On January 14, prior to the Windows update, , the storage space at 17:42 EST indicated 191,556KB for about 177,000 QSO's.
The following day, on January 15, the next backup indicated 192,504KB and that number hasn't incremented since then, in spite of adding about 200 new QSO's. I made 14 copies after each radio sessions since then.
Yesterday, I did a recompile of the database but that did not change the MDB file count.
Is this a normal behavior? What can I do to further check the integrity of my log??

Re: Installing DXLab on Win11 machine
I did this exact same transfer 2 weeks ago; old Win 10 PC to new Win 11 PC. Of the several Ham radio related programs I moved, DXLabs was actually the easiest! I printed out Dave's instructions (5 pages), which Dave provided the link to earlier in this thread, and checked off each step as I went. At first it did look a bit overwhelming, but it wasn't bad at all. There were a number of sections that didn't apply to me since I had not made any changes or modifications to that application. I read through it, checked it off, and moved on.
?
I thought about trying to transfer files over my local network, but decided it was easier for me to use a USB thumb drive. Thanks Dave (and any helpers) for the excellent instructions and all your work for our benefit!
?
Good luck & 73,

Re: Installing DXLab on Win11 machine
I have done the "moving between PCs" process several times over the years.?? Print out the web page on Moving Between PCs, and check off each step as you perform it.? Read each step very carefully, as the descriptions of what you need to do and where you need to do it are precise.?? Every problem I've ever had (and all have been minor) was something that was easily corrected with a few emails here.?? Good luck! Pretty sure I got bit by this¡ I got a new Win11 shack PC yesterday and started setting it up. Got all the DXLab stuff and my SDR installed and working. Today I went to set up the rest of the stuff I use, and found that the audio no longer worked. Updates had occurred during the night.? Everything LOOKED fine- just no sound.
