Yes indeed, I have already done it and will do it on a regular basis.

Question re: Linux & Wine
Has anyone had much success employing Wine on a Linux platform for installing, updating, and using the DXLab Suite?? I use Linux Ubuntu 14.04 and have installed Wine 17.x, and have been able to install each of the Suite's elements, though not via DXLauncher, but via individual installs into my ".wine\c_drive." ?All of the individual installs are elderly versions of each element and require updating.? That's as far as I can get. Attempting updates via DXLauncher-DXView suffers the same process halting error as is witnessed when trying to install an element via DXLauncher, as mentioned earlier. ?Without the current versions of the elements, configuration of all elements is a nightmare.? Perhaps the answer might be found in Oracle's VirtualBox? Sure would like to put the problematic Windows issues behind me and run all on the Linux platform, but……… Just asking to see if any other bravehearts are out there.? 73 de Paul, DU2/K8SQ? |
SpotCollector Source Problem
开云体育One of the sources I connect to is VE7CC.net, port 23.? Starting yesterday SpotCollector would connect, but I would only get announcements and no spots.? The same thing has happened today.? Just for the heck of it I started the CCUser program and I see spots being displayed there.? I haven’t made any changes or installed anything.? Any ideas, my other three sources appear to be working fine. ? 73, Bob KB4CL |
See what DX entities I still need a real card from
I know I should be able to figure out an SQL query for this, and I searched in the DOC also, but not sure how best to proceed. I'd like to have at least one card from each country I have worked (I know some will be difficult), so I am trying to run a report so I can see which countries I worked that I still need a card from, even if I have an LOTW confirmation. This way, when I am making contacts, I can click the QSL requested box during capture and know that this is one to send a card to and try and get one back Do you get what I mean? Whats the best way? Thanks! Paul WB2JVB |
Re: This is Weird
I was following all you said and then this morning I found a spot for
Australia in 20M CW. The interesting part is I have VK confirmed on 20M SSB, 15M SSB, CW, and RTTY and on phone a couple other places. But following the logic below I should see the spot for him on 20M CW. That's alright though, I'm good, just thought I would let you know and I have seen this same thing in the past which is why I was questioning why I wasn't seeing the 12M CW spot last night. Guess this falls into the "Don't worry about it" category. Have fun. 73, Bob KB4CL From: dxlab@... [mailto:dxlab@...] Sent: Monday, March 07, 2016 8:04 PM To: dxlab@... Re: DXLauncher Crashing/now working
I had the same problem with Launcher crashing my computer. I spent hours trying to understand why Launcher would suddenly start crashing my Windows 10 Professional system. Turned out it was some new conflict with Avast Professional antivirus. I've used Avast for the past five years without issue, but the latest update must have created issues with Launcher and probably other programs as well. I did try going back to my last restore point but that didn't fix the issue. Finally I uninstalled Avast Professional and went to Windows Defender. Everything seems to work now so I've created a new restore point and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Oh, and the Avast/Launcher issue wouldn't let me shut down or restart the computer once I attempted to launch a DXLab application. My only resort was to force a shutdown. 73, Jerry, KG6TT |

Report request
Hi Dave,
Would it be possible to either create a report that could enumerate how many QSOs you've made with each entity that's displayed in the log? After the ARRL contest last weekend I was curious how many JAs I worked in the contest. I could set up a SQL filter to display a date range (or in this case, use the Contest_ID field and year) plus the DXCC prefix, but that would only work for individual entities. I'd like to have a report that I could see at a glance, for any given contest or time period (or the whole log) how many JAs, DLs, EAs, etc, without having to do each one at a time. Thanks. |

I have not been able to get inside Avast free version to see what is allowed etc. If you know how to do that please pass that along. With the below info, I just might un-install avast and see what happens. 73, Pete N4KW On 3/7/2016 6:35 PM, 'Dave AA6YQ' aa6yq@... [dxlab] wrote:

Re: Memory problems
开云体育Did you try looking at Task Manager under the processes tab to see how much memory the various processes are taking? DXKeeper will show up as DXKeeper in the list. It's about 14.9M on my WIn7 system. The Launcher is about 2.8M on my system.SpotCollector can be a killer at times but it can be fixed by adjusting the config. SC can collect a lot of data especially during a contest and can take a fair amount of CPU to update its database as lots of spots come in. Shortening the time to spot deletion can help some of that. 73, Larry? W6NWS On 3/7/2016 7:18 PM, wa3mej@...

Re: Memory problems
开云体育If it has been working it still should.
4GB of Memory should be fine. You might want to look at task manager and see what is utilizing memory Which apps do you have running? currently I see DXKeeper at 52M, DXVeiw at 43M, Spot collector at 37M, Commander at 13M on my machine On 3/7/2016 6:18 PM, wa3mej@... [dxlab] wrote: ? |
Memory problems
Good evening everyone, I am having a problem that is a recent occurrence. DXLab has been working for about two years now on my laptop and I have had no problems with it running. ?The computer is 2400MHz ?single processor with 4GB of memory. ? Recently I have noticed the free memory decreasing to the point where I now have (at times) no free memory left. ?? II am wondering if someone can give me an idea approximately how much memory DXLab takes in total and if my computer should be sufficient to run ?DXLab.? I am currently doing an extensive scan for viruses etc to make certain I dont have a problem in this area. ANy and all comments welcome Jim? |
