Re: Grey line not showing on DXView World Map 4.1.8

If there's an errorlog.txt file in your DXView folder, please attach that to an email message, and send it to me via

aa6yq (at) ambersoft.com

If that's not the case, please reboot Windows just to make sure we're not chasing a transient Windows problem.

If the behavior persists, then

1. on the Configuration window's General tab, check the "log debugging info" box

2. terminate DXView

3. start DXView

4. make sure the World Map window is visible

5. on the Configuration window's General tab, uncheck the "log debugging info" box

6. attach the errorlog.txt file from your DXView folder to an email message, and send it to me via

aa6yq (at) ambersoft.com

This is a new computer with a fresh load of DXlabs. I really don't remember if it happened when it was first loaded or not.

Should I just CTL-LD DXView and start it fresh?

Or would you prefer I turn on debugging?

I set up the Inbound OQRS according to the instructions and it works great. Thanks for the feature Dave.

My question is about what gets printed in the 'QSL?' field on the labels. The QSL requests from ClubLog have QSL_Sent set to R and QSL_Rcvd empty. When I print labels I get 'pse!' in the 'QSL?' field. I would expect this field to be blank if QSL_Rcvd is empty.

I have been filtering for QSL_Sent=R and then setting QSL_Rcvd=I before printing OQRS labels. I would like to eliminate this step. Is there a setting somewhere that would remove the return QSL request?

In the Options panel at the top of the "QSL Configuration" window's General tab, uncheck the "Outgoing QSLs request confirmation unless already confirmed" box

For some reason the greyline and sun position are not showing on my World Map.

I can't find any option to enable or disable it. The map otherwise looks fine in size, resolution and plotting of paths to DX. Auroral zones also show properly when enabled.

Win10, latest production lease.

What am I missing?

Has this always been the case, Jim, or is this new behavior? If the latter, when did it start? What hardware or software changes did you make around the time it started?

+++ I don't know why. Most of my old pre-DX-Keeper QSOs that I imported were set to QSL sent = N and were never changed. In my old DX Base log, from the very first QSO until about the time I converted to DX Lab, if I didn't sent for a card then the QSL-Sent field appears to be marked as N by default.

I know I switched over from DX Base in the spring of 2013. From what looks like late February 2013, most QSOs had the QSL Sent set to Y, which lasted until late May 2013--even though I know I didn't QSL a great many of them. After that date the QSL Sent field was generally left blank or set to Y when a card was either sent as a direct request or a bureau reply.

So what do you recommend I do? Is there any reason to leave those set to N? Should I just find all Qs with that QSL sent status and remove the flag altogether? I can't see any reason why I wouldn't want to confirm an old contact if I were to ever get a QSL request.

I'm thinking I should filter the log from the beginning until May 21st (when the Y flags started to disappear on all QSOs and long after the N flags were gone), then find all records where Sent Via is blank and QSL Received is also blank, then bulk remove whatever value is in QSL-S. Does that sound right? August 2001 to May 2013, anything marked Y or N where QSL-R is blank and sent via is also blank, then mark sent as blank?

*** Since QSL_RCVD = 'N' means "don't QSL" and since that's not your intention, then I suggest that you

1. backup your log (Configuration window, Log tab, Backup button)

2. filter the Log Page Display with

QSL_RCVD = 'N'

3. In the "Modify QSOs" panel on the "Advanced Sorts, Filters, and Modifiers" window,

3a. set the "Item name" selector to

QSL_Rcvd

3b. leave the "Item new value" selector empty

3c. click the Mod button

OK, so this apparently didn't work.

I received the email from Clublog with the test card requests I made earlier today. I pressed the Inboind OQRS button. It flashed, updated the date and time and I got a dialog saying "Requests received: 5" appeared, but nothing else happened.

Nothing else is supposed to happen.
I went into the QSL tab, selected 2-column labels and pressed Add Requested. DXkeeper scanned the log and only returned the same list of requested QSLs that had been there before. It did not find and tag the supposedly-downloaded OQRS requests.

I also brought up the callsign of the station in question and looked at the QSOs I'd requested cards for. The QSL Sent drop-down is still set to N.

What did I do wrong?

If a QSO's "QSL Sent" is set to 'N' - meaning "no card should be set" - any incoming OQRS request will be ignored.
Why was "QSL Sent" set to 'N' ?

What did I do wrong? Can I get these to re-download somehow, without wiping out all the other enqueued bureau cards from last month?

(I have verified that in DX Keeper QSL Configuration, Club Log tab, that I have "Inbound OQRS? set? 'QSL Sent' to 'R' checked)."

Re: OT: com-port in Win 7 SafeMode

My recollection is that serial port device drivers don't get loaded when Windows is booted into Safe mode.

Why are you booting Windows into Safe mode? The typical reason one does that is to check for interference from a firewall or anti-malware application.

OT: com-port in Win 7 SafeMode

Hello,

I'm into unfamiliar territory for me and learning as I go along.

I'm debugging trying to get fldigi and DXLab's Commander to work together.

I need to know if a "real" RS232 com-port can work in Win 7 HomePremium SafeMode.

By "real", I mean it is not the USB adapter with a FTDI-chip.

From my reading of this site "http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/which-drivers-loaded-safe-mode#1TC=windows-7", I say that it can not.

If I'm on solid ground here, is there anything I can do to get it to work in SafeMode?

TIA for any help.

Thanks. I had foolishly let MSFT?detect the printer?and install a driver. At your suggestion I went to the HP site and found a Win10 driver for this P2015dn laser printer.

All working fine now! Took screen shots of all the setup screens of DXK and Print server form definitions.

Thanks again!

When you have inbound OQRS "bureau request" or " direst request" you are notified once a day via e-mail from Clublog.

My notification comes around 830PM local every night.

Sounds straightforward enough, I guess I just need to see it in action. How am I alerted by DX Keeper?

Alerted about what?
Does it download the requests automatically or do I have to go in every day and check to see if there are new requests?

You must click the "Inbound OQRS" button whenever you wish to see if new requests are present.
Does Clublog also email me to let me know a request was made?

I have received such email messages from Club Log, but I don't know how often they are sent.
I guess that's the part I'm unsure about.

I have about 15 outgoing bureau card requests in my "add requested" queue (from my last incoming bureau shipment).

There is no "add requested" queue.
Will these added requests display anywhere else other than when I enqueue requested labels to print? If (fictitious call) XX9XXX requests a bureau card from me, will it display anywhere other than when I go to run bureau labels?

If you respond to an incoming bureau card by locating the logged QSO and setting its "QSL Sent" item to 'R', and if the "QSL Via" panel on the Main window's QSL tab is set to anything other than LoTW or eQSL, ithen nvoking the "Add Requested" function will add that logged QSO to the QSL Queue. You could define a script that filters the Log Page Display to contain only QSOs whose "QSL Sent Via" items are set to 'B' and whose "QSL; Sent" items are set to 'R'; invoking that script would then show all QSOs for which a request for confirmation via the bureau has been received.
The practical reason for this is that if I get a direct OQRS request (unlikely for a garden-variety stateside station like me) I'd like to send off a card same-day.

Then click the "Inbound OQRS" button every day.

Dave, AA6YQ
