DXLab Launcher Question
Mel NZ0O
Dave, AA6YQ
I noticed last week that the type face for the launcher program is gray instead of black. SEL button is not active. I found I have 2 Launcher programs installed on my computer, one dated 2013 and the other 2023. It does have an Error Log. It does work, but it is not right. Thanks, Mel, NZ0O |
Re: DX View Not Following MYQTH
+ AA6YQ comments below
I have set myQTH and saved it to my workspace.? After shutting everything down and restarting with the correct workspace DX Keeper shows myQTH correctly.? The problem is DXView shows a different Latitude and Longitude for my QTH therefore making the headings 20 degrees different than they should be.? The displayed Latitude is off by ~ 9 degrees and the display Longitude off by ~2.5 degrees.? Even taking into consideration true North the headings are still incorrect.? E.g. the BA5 region of China is 0 degrees true North of my QTH yet DX View shows it at 340 degrees which is close to the heading for JA. + Ultimately, I had to review DXView's source code to remember how this works: unlike most DXLab application settings, the Latitude and Longitude in the QTH panel on the Configuration window's General tab are only saved to the Windows Registry when you click that panel's Save button, which is at the panel's extreme right. + Why? It's occasionally helpful to set DXView's QTH to a location other than your own, either to see what signal paths look like from a DX station's perspective, or to help a friend who lives in another part of your country with a propagation forecast. You can type in a different latitude and longitude, or you can click on the desired location on DXView's World Map and then click the QTH panel's Position button. When you're done with this exercise, you can restore your saved QTH by clicking the QTH panel's Recall button. +This is described in the Reference documentation
+ to reduce the probability that someone else will fall into this hole. + Many thanks to Art VE3CT for patiently working through this with me. ? ? ? ?73, ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Dave, AA6YQ ? ? ? ? ? ? ? |

# more AA6YQ comments below
+ Neither Club Log nor QRZ publish lists of current participants. But QRZ log has a select setting available, after the fact, that all the user to view those entries that are for actual qrz users. It's the "QRZ Log User" check box, available to user by setting up the display options they wish for their log view. # That's not a programmatic interface that provides a list of all current participating callsigns, as is provided by both eQSL and LoTW. 73, Dave, AA6YQ |

Re: Sync QRZ QSL's
+ AA6YQ comments below
I did invoke the "Upload to QRZ" button and it uploaded my log to QRZ.+ Do all of your QSOs logged in DXKeeper now specify a "QRZ LogID" item? When it completed, there were 11 more log entries at QRZ than in my DXKeeper. I searched through the log's and found some of those extras at QRZ were dupes,? but each dupe had a different LogID number. I think this happened because I had a log entry with one LogID number and there was a log entry at QRZ with a different LogID number. In addition, both entries were attached to awards, keeping me from deleting the mismatched entry. I need to give a list of which dupe and its LogID to QRZ support and ask them to delete the record.+ You can directly delete QSOs from your QRZ Log. Hopefully this will correct itself soon and LoTW will be back in service. Then I can work on matching my rebuilt log to what was uploaded there.? + There are significant differences between the 4 supported electronic QSLing services. Club Log and QRZ permit you to delete a submitted entry; eQSL and LoTW do not. Thus the "Upload to eQSL" and "Upload to LoTW" functions work from the QSL Queue so that you can easily review what you're uploading beforehand, whereas the "Upload to Club Log" and "Upload to QRZ" functions work directly from your logged QSOs. + In my experience, configuring DXKeeper, WinWarbler, and SpotCollector (I use the direct interoperation with WSJT-X) to automatically upload each QSO to all 4 QSLing services as it is logged simplifies the process. Every week or so, I invoke all 4 "Sync" functions to update my logged QSOs to reflect new confirmations received. Maybe it would simplify things if uploads only occur when the qso party was an actual member of the qsl service being uploaded to?+ Neither Club Log nor QRZ publish lists of current participants. I would still like to have access to some form of user training for the DXLab produces. I would be worth the price as well as the time. + I suggest that you start here, as it explains how to go about traversing the DXLab learning curve: + All questions are welcome here, no matter how many times they may have already been asked and answered, or how obvious the answers may be in the documentation. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?Dave, AA6YQ |
