Re: Commander Configuration not recognizing K3

Joe, The configuration is a K3 with the RS232 connection to the PC.
?
Following your suggestion, I stripped the station down to just the K3 and PC. ?The only connections are the K3 to the RS232, the computer to the internet, and an antenna connected.
?
When I try to load the Commander App, I get a message "Commander will Terminate" and it does. ?Sometimes I get a brief glimpse of the Commander configuration screen... for about 1 second.
?
And by the way the K3 utility does show the K3 connecting to the computer.

When I invoke CTL/Lotw I end up with two QSOs? that apparently did not sync. It is not a big deal, but if I can resolve that, I would like to. I just don't know how to proceed.

I have no concept of your control system nor can I identify
"remote" site and "control" site. Further, I don't know
if you have a K3 with RS-232 interface, an "upgraded" K3 with
KIO3B (USB) interface, or a K3s since you have not made that
clear.

However, if the K3 Utility sows that no ports are available,
it can be one of several things: 1) with RS-232 the cables
are disconnected, 2) the serial port driver (USB or RS-232)
is not installed of functioning, 3) the K3/K3S KIO3/KIO3B
board has suffered a failure, 4) you are trying to access the
radio via the RRC system and its serial drivers are bad of
not installed, 5) your RRC network connection has failed (or
is being blocked by a firewall).

Since you're running a remote system, you're on your own!
Strip it down to the base "one radio, one computer at the
same location" and start from there.

Startup issue

Every time I start up DXView now I get the following error message:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<kml xmlns="http://www.opengis.net/kml/2.2" xmlns:gx="http://www.google.com/kml/ext/2.2" xmlns:kml="http://www.opengis.net/kml/2.2" xmlns:atom="http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom">

? ? ? <refreshMode>onInterval</refreshMode>
? ? ? <refreshInterval
>10</refreshInterval>
? ? </Link>
? </NetworkLink>
? </kml>

Sometimes, the map (w/DXAtlas) will open, but the DXView info window won't, until I click on the flashing error message icon at the bottom of the screen.? After that, it seems to run okay.??
But I have other issues with the computer/Windows, too.? After allowing a Windows update last night, I came in to find the blue screen with "Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart" message, showing a "Stop code" of System Thread exception Not Handled."
It's a relatively new Dell I9 with lots of Ram, plenty of storage, but it occasionally just crashes unexpectedly, when all I'm running is DXLab
any recommendations?

Thanks,? Steve? K4WA

+ As documented in

+ a WAB square is 4 character in length.

+ The "Region item" into which WAB squares are to be specified can accept up to 8 characters.

+ When DXKeeper attempted to copy the contents of each QSO's user defined item #6, it encountered a QSO whose user defined item #6 contained more than 8 characters, resulting in the error message.

+ To find all QSOs whose user defined item #6 contains more than 4 characters so that you can correct those items to properly specify a 4-character WAB square, filter the Log Page Display with this expression:

LEN(App_DXKeeper_User_Defined_6)>4

OK. Here's what I see. I'll use one of the fields as an example.
The user field has a drop down list of my amplifiers. For years, I've selected the specific amplifier used used during operating sessions. After the crash and reload of the operating system (Win 11) and last saved log before the crash, and after some struggle (see my prior posts, above), I finally got the drop down list of amplifiers to appear in User Field 1. The problem is that all contacts in the log now show the same amplifier (KPA1500), including all contacts going back to my very first contact as a Novice in 1959, when, obviously, I used no amplifier. The default setting for the field should be "None" or the field should be empty. The .mdb log file is correct but the display in the log user field is incorrect. With thousands of contacts over many years, fixing this individually is out of the question, so I'm wondering whether this is even remediable. If I need to start over, how can I wipe the fields clean and re-configure them to represent accurately what's in the .mdb file?

+ If the user-defined items in the .mdb file are correct, which I assume you know because you used Microsoft Access or equivalent to check, then

1. there's nothing to "fix individually"

2. my guess is that the entries is your amplifier list don't exactly match what's logged in the user-defined item of each QSO.
# If you like, you can place you log .mdb file in a zip archive, attach it to an email message along with our your amplifier list, and send the message to me via?

Don't forget that you can add additional filters to individual nodes that can be more definitive than what is provided in SC.? ? For example, you can limit spots on a node to be from your state versus just East, Central or West USA.
?
For example:
?
?I do not want to see spots about US stations. ?I only want to see spots that originate from the Texas and Arkansas. ? I want to see spots?
about my call.
?set/dx/filter Call=AB5K ?or (Cty<>k and (SpotterState=TX or ?SpotterState=TX))
