For various reasons, usually copy/paste, a lot of the First Names in the Name Column have a Lower Case letter.

Usually it's how the person sent it in PSK mode.
Or my too lazy to hit the Caps Key when typing.

Is there a way to designate the first letter Character in the name column to be Upper Case?

I have no idea how to use the Advanced Sorts, Filter etc. feature to figure that out.

Only Cam 1 shows my Xmas Decorations, and unfortunately is too close to show the whole thing. But your all welcome to view anyway.

I've enabled the 'Chat Box', feel free to visit.

Engaged "Memory Banks"

Suddenly the "A" "B" VFO buttons and the "Dual Receive box
are all flashing. The signal strength "S" level indicator is
also flashing (not the "bar" but just the "S" number at the
top right hand corner of the S-meter indicator - opposite
where the current VFO is identified.
I can confirm this behavior ... enabling "memory banks" display
- which I have never used - causes the A and B buttons and "dual
receive" box to start flashing. It also causes Commander to
ignore the "command interval" setting and begin polling as
fast as possible (15 milliseconds between strings of commands).

Hi Dave Here is a good one

QRZ subscription works on all calls tired except one.

If I put in OD5ET and click the RST box in the DXkeeper Capture window it
goes away and doesn't come back. Application remains as "unresponsive" and
has to be stopped with task manager.

Other ODs...not problem
Name and location was filled in from my log so I changed the callsign sign
in the log and the same problem occurred ie QRZ is causing it
Any other calls I tried no problem.

Just the response to a OD5ET lookup on the QRZ data service nails DXkeeper

I should have finished the last note with the fact that this has happened

out the dxlab suite, and start it over, and then the alarm no longer pops

last three days it happens, more often than not. Most of the time, I have
figured it was a timing thing, with the availability of the connection not
happening because something else was going on.

Re: Log on two PC's??

I have a master and several ¡°slave¡± computers. I created a .bat file (remember those?) called GO.BAT which contains the following commands:

xcopy "c:\program files\dxlab suite\dxkeeper\databases\k3ll.mdb" \\cliff2\shareddocs\dxl\*.* <file:///\\cliff2\shareddocs\dxl\*.*> /y /v

pause

This file runs on the master PC and copies to one of the slaves. I placed the file in my Startup folder so that it runs every time the PC is booted. Plus it provides a small measure of semi automatic backup.

I also created short cut to the GO.BAT so that I can run it whenever I need to (like after working VK9XX!).

On the slave computers I just do a recompute in SC and I am set.

Phil,

I use a similar technique, by sharing the folder across the network. I can use a copy of DXK on a separate machine, with the database specified on that mounted drive.

I actually found it easier to remotely control the machine with DXK on it, and let it run locally. I use either VNC or Remote Desktop. In my case, I have a ¡°modern¡± and a ¡°vintage¡± side to the shack and log from either side.

When I click on pathfinder in the launcher window, the PF window comes up with the Pathfinder - a member of the DXKabs suite of free amateur radio software, last search library update 29 Aug 2009 etc. When I put my own call on the SC search call, in the PF box, and click on QRZ ubtton, QRZ.com comes up correctly. was able to purchase an external WD hard drive - 1 TB, that's 1 terrabyte or

The interfaces available are USB 2.0 and SATA. My HD DVR has a port for
the SATA interface. Just plugged it in and the "system" formatted it and
used it right away.

Just can't believe how big - and inexpensive - drives have become.

Dave,

I just noticed something odd with Pathfinder 4.6.0 probably related to the changes QRZ recently implemented. Not a big problem but strange. If I type in a callsign such as OY/DD1LD and click on the QRZ link Pathfinder displays a page titled "Name Search Results" and displays a long list of callsigns with OY in the address somewhere. If I go directly to the QRZ website and do the same it shows a link to DD1LD.

Re: Cheap Disk Drives

I found quite a few 1 TB drives for $100 or less, but many (most!) of 'em couldn't do SATA. I also didn't have to pay any shipping!

In addition to the amount of disk storage, I couldn't believe the small size of this one. I have a 500 GB MyBook and this little guy is half that size! I can feel that it's running, but I can't hear it.

For the guys wanting to know how I can do DXLabs and TV at the same time - we took the low tech approach - we have a baby monitor system with the TX in the shack and the RX wherever we want it to be. When Joe DX hollers we come a-running!

I keep threatening to make recordings to create our own Josephine DX so we have different voices - one for the wife and one for me. At the moment, our workaround is to have her version announce the callsign while mine doesn't. As soon as we hear a callsign, we know "...it's for you dear!"
