XTAL help is needed
NICK SV1VS
开云体育Hi To ALL. I have a technical problem and I want some advices and/or help. I have a very old radio , hand made from a German man , The KARL BRAUN model SE 401 dig , it is a 10w fm/ssb/cw transceiver and in the fm simplex there is no transmit due to an xtal oscillator? malfunctioning. I need to replace the 10.0874 MHz xtal in the HC49 OR HC51 OR HC48 CASE? and it is impossible to find any ware nearby a place to order the xtal. SO I will be more than happy if anybody has any ideas about where to order , or to by this xtal , I want to have this radio in working order due to sentimental reasons ( it is my? first radio as a radio ham back to 1976. Thank you all. With my best 73's DE Nick SV1VS P.S. if anybody has by any chance this xtal and want to sell it to me OR CAN ORDER IT FOR ME? just let me know. ? |

In Mid 2021, Quartslab (UK) decided to stop its activities. |
开云体育Quartslab was a subcontractor for Klove that manufactured crystals on their behalf.? Quartslab suspended orders about two years ago.? ? Klove is still operating and manufacturing crystals in HC-6/U holders.? Last year, I purchased a pair of BFO crystals for a Hallicrafters Cyclone III.? Klove’s contact information appears below.? Be prepared for price shock. ? As I recall, neither Steve Johnston at AF4K nor Bomar could supply typical BFO frequency crystals in a HC-6/U case.? I made the purchase from Klove primarily because I didn’t want to diddle with any other option. ? Paul, W9AC ? ---------------------------------------------- Guy Peeters ? 开云体育P.S. ? I should add that Klove obtained the amateur and consumer crystal database from Quartslab.? They should be able to make a 10.0874 MHz crystal in a HC49, HC51, or HC48 case based on make and model of the radio. ? Paul, W9AC? |
Have you ever considered to ask Quarztechnik Daun GmbH in Germany on ? I ordered crystals from them in very good quality for a KF166 2m transceiver. May be it is an alternative for you.

What you pay from the EU supplier could be offset somewhat by cheaper shipping.? Just a thought.? Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. Sent from for iOS On Mon, Mar 25, 2024 at 09:22, Karl du Roi, DK7AL <dk7al@...> wrote:

开云体育Jeff, ? With shipping, the total for BFO pair from Klove came to EUR 230 or about USD $250. ??Each crystal is EUR 85. ? Paul, W9AC ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Jeff AC0C

Shipping between EU and US is obscenely high. That’s why Nick could make out better buying from within the EC.? Steve Wedge, W1ES/4 Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. Sent from for iOS On Mon, Mar 25, 2024 at 09:51, Paul Christensen <w9ac@...> wrote:

开云体育Hi to all. In the beginning I want to thank everybody for the reply to my problem and for the help. I have just got a reply as follows: Price is 45 EUR? , ex VAT and shipment Lead time : 5-6 weeks Shipment cost by courier to Greece : 40 EUR ? Total price , shipment by courier and VAT included :? 102.85 EUR If shipment cost is too high , we can ship also by regular post for 10 EUR but this is not traceable. Total price with shipment by regular post , VAT included ?:? 66.55 EUR ? I think that it is a reasonable price for? one xtal. ? Thank you again everyone foe the effort. ? I wonder how hard it would be to design a "fake crystal"? Something with a synthesizer chip say an
si570 or si5351a and a little tiny CPU to program it? USB socket at the top - you'd plug it into your computer and designate the frequency, then unplug and plug the whole thing into the rig's crystal socket. Of course, it would have to be powered somehow... and an oscillator outputting into a crystal socket isn't *exactly* a crystal - and the required current might be too high, and.... - Jerry, KF6VB |

I've done this for another application. Check out the Prog Rock from QRPLabs.com On Mon, Mar 25, 2024, 1:04 PM jerry-KF6VB <jerry@...> wrote: I wonder how hard it would be to design a "fake crystal"?? Something |

The March/April 2024 issue of Electric Radio has an article about using a ProgRock "programmable crystal" in the restoration of a Heathit HX-1681.? Interesting information on how to program it and integrate it into the circuit.
