WA8AJS, Jeff's Mod for TR7 to Lower Power Output

 

Has Anyone ever tried this Mod and How well does it work?

I did it to both my TR-7 and my TR-7A last summer while they were in the shop for a tweak and a tune-up.? It works very well!

It seems technically sound but IMO it is a solution in search of a problem. For decades hams have just reduced output by turning the mic gain down and it works fine. A separate power level control can encourage overdriving of the low level stages if you are not careful with your settings. I considered it and chose to not.
