Drake repair service
I'm in need of a vintage repair service that is familiar with Drake radio's. I have a Drake 2-NT that has lost it's output. I have changed all the tubes but no joy. Looking for recommendations.
Thanks in advance.

开云体育Can you please share what you learn and what's quoted as their hourly rate, please? I have a TR-3 that's been giving a buddy fits (he can usually fix almost anything). It's been on and off his bench for 2 years and still isn't working right. Thanks, David KD4E On 1/17/25 13:45, Peter K8PT via

开云体育Jim!I hope you are not talking about ME! I have NEVER told anyone an item was not repairable and then offered to take it from them for next-to-nothing. In the case of SOME Ten Tec Orions and Omni’s with bad CPU’s I have bought radios for parts, but only because the CPU parts are not available for them. As of today, there are no unobtanium parts for Drake radios other than ones for which I do have spares. Gary W0DVN

Gary do you repair TT Orions? Do you repair Drake gear as well? Tim

I can surely fix your 2NT. Estimate is $100 plus any shipping. Gary W0DVN

Thanks Gary I fixed my L7 that had an issue but for future reference do you repair the L7 and L4B? I have an original Orion, I really think the problem from what I am experiencing and reading on The Internet the issue is the A9 board, but not sure of course. Thanks Gary Tim WB8UHZ

开云体育I do not have a web page. I like doing work on radios (keeps me sharp) but I don’t want a deluge. I think a webpage would bring about such a deluge because there are so few folks still working on this stuff.Gary W0DVN

Right Gary for sure you would get over loaded. In the past I purchased some Parts from you but glad to know that if I get stuck I have back up. Tim

Jim I'm not familiar with Scott, what is his YouTube "name" so I can look at the L7 matter you noted. Thanks Tim

Scott Mitchell? (KB!SEL)? owns? amprepairguy.com? ?and also Harbach Electronics.?
Here is the L4B in question.? He has 448 video's on there of repaired amps from various? amp manufactures.? ? The playlist has different amps in their own categories.? ?
Here is the main url for his amprepairguy.com site.? ?
He bought out Harbach last spring.? ? Later.... Jim? ?VE7RF |
Interesting video but his glitch diode configuration has me puzzled. He complains (rightly so) that the B- was returned to the chassis but connects a reversed diode pair in which one of the diodes returns the B- to the chassis? The glitch diode implementations I have seen use only a reverse biased diode from B- to chassis ground. Am I missing something?
/g/DRAKE-RADIO/files/Glitch%20protection%20D_a_02.pdf At any rate, it does look bad for Ron. The eHam reviews after 2022 are brutal. I hope he is doing OK.
