Discount shipping services?

 

I'd like to move some stuff along on Ebay or QTH, but the shipping costs can be deal breakers.? There are some discount services like Pirateship.com and others, and they claim to offer discounts to as much as 89%.? Are they legitimate...anyone out there have experience with them?

Pirate Ship is very much legitimate but you will have a hell of a time circumventing eBay’s shipping system. I finally gave up and let them use their own (also discounted) shipping rates.?

I concur with Steve & Bill on both points. Pirate Ship has been great... multiple packages over the last several months as I've helped liquidate 3 ham? radio estates in 2024, including one lost package claim payout...that was on USPS, not Pirate ship.
If anyone on the list figures out how to bypass eBay's shipping service, please let me know.

I’ve been able to bypass ePays shipping by sending the item via Pirate Ship or FedEx. Then copy and Paste into the “add tracking information” on the sold item. ?EBay does not have the polybag or padded envelope USPS rates but Pirate Ship does.?

My wife and I have been using Pirate ship for over a year for shipping thanks to a post by Steve wedge.? A very legitimate service that saves a significant amount of money.

Have not shipped on Ebay so I cannot speak to that.

Pirate Ship is great.? I have used it for years to sell stuff on ebay... maybe 100 shipments.? There's no "gotcha".

I also have had great results using PirateShip - both for US and international shipping.?

Within the US, I usually choose to utilize USPS Ground Advantage via PirateShip.? For international, they offer a forwarding service which has worked beautifully so far.?

Saves a lot of money both ways - the maximum discount is on the international side.? I'd say it is at least 50% less than the best deal I could find on my own.

Joseph - I am interested in trying this, but how do you “ship” the sold item as far as eBay is concerned? Do you just select “mark as shipped”? (I am concerned that ebay records that the item has been shipped)
