AC-4 Cinch Jones Drive Pin Removal

Just got a AC-4 and the bias line (green wire) is not continuous from PSU to Cinch pin 9.? I never dealt with Cinch plugs before but got the datasheet and see replacement part for the 300 series "drive pin".? Does this just get tapped out with a thin punch?? I don't want to damage the connector and hate to rewire a new one -- just hoping its an easy solder fix once I can figure out how to open it.

I don't have the specified punch. I use something like a drill bit to knock it out about 1/8 inch. Then I use a small wire clipper to pry it out enough that I can get a small needle nose pliers under it and then work it out slowly with the pliers.

Yup
I just work them out with needle nose pliers and then a small pair of side cutters.

It helps if you twist them a bit. They do have a twist on the through pin.

Once I remove the drive pin- I throw? it away. The hole size for the drive pin? is? spot on for a #2-56 tap. After tapping? both sides, I use SS 2-56X 1/4"? hex head? screws to fix the hood to the plug.

I have made up several cables for ICOM gear.? With the price of Molex pin removal tools, this option is a remarkable bargain! Thanks for the tip!!

I did not know this until recently but you can buy pin removal tools at auto parts stores.

Not cheap but they won't break. A local handed be two different flavors of these one day without comment. I looked at them for a moment and the light bulb went on. "I know what these are!" I thanked him profusely. Subsequent internet searches revealed the source (and value).
