PLJ-8LED debacle and Amazon

I distanced myself from Amazon a few years ago when they switched to a format where you couldn't identify the vendor before or after the sale. ?Even before that you couldn't tell if something came from an Amazon "warehouse" or a vendor; the number remaining in "stock" was never accurate with the online readout.

Too, when doing a search, I've found prices can be significantly lower on eBay or some of the ham sites that allow free ads.

Happy Easter Sunday to all.

FWIW the only thing I have ever bought through Amazon was the obscure SCR for the PS7 crowbar, and that was from American Microsemi which I knew to be a good vendor. Otherwise life is just fine without Amazon.

I eventually went to eBay hoping to find one. The AliExpress website has been taken down and every other seller was in China. None made any commitment to ship date or delivery date. Things have really changed in just a few weeks.

I had a strange experience with Amazon recently.? I went looking to buy a new magnetron for a microwave oven.? On Amazon, it was about $345.? On eBay, several sellers listed the same unit for about $70.? Each seller said it would take up to five days to process the order before shipping.? I bought from an eBay seller located in Texas.? About a week later, the magnetron arrived in an Amazon wrapper from an Amazon warehouse in New Jersey!??

Is Amazon using eBay to sell excess stock "out the back door," without having to publicly list the lower price?? Someone suggested that a worker in the Amazon warehouse was stealing merch, but there were too many eBay sellers listing the item for it to have been a theft ring -- too likely to attract attention.
